Great, you've been demoted. You have lost all of your skills and weapons. How many games these days are starting you with full power and then taking it away in the second episode? Geez.
Exit the fortress and follow the path out. You'll run into a fellow assassin who tells you to begin your research in the village market. Use your GPS to lead you there.
When you arrive you'll see the men whom you need to eavesdrop on, near the well. Head past him and sit down on the bench. Move the Control Stick so that either of the men near the well becomes highlighted. Lock on to either one and then hit the "
Eavesdrop" button.
Find the basket weaver
Head to the marker on the map and then Lock on to the basket weaver. You'll learn how to
Pickpocket. First, of course, you must lock on. Once you do that, simply walk up to the person and hold the "Pick Pocket" button (same as the "Gentle Push" button).
Find Masun near the cypress tree
Head to the marker and you'll learn how to
Interrogate, no water boarding allowed. Essentially you'll want to Lock on to the target (the man preaching loudly) and follow him to a secluded place. Once you are out of sight, beat him until he tells you what you want to hear.
Masyaf - Knowledge
This is simply a cutscene which gives you the task of killing nine men. This is what you'll be doing for the rest of the game. You also gain the Sword and Hidden Blade.
Combat Training
As you exit the fortress interior you'll be stopped and will be placed into the training ring. You've used the Sword before, however, you'll learn a few more techniques here:
Lock on to fight - Lock on to a target to engage that target.
Deflect - Press and hold the "Deflect" button to block attacks.
Combo Kill - Press "Attack" and then "Attack" again just as you clank swords to do a combo kill.
Grab - You can grab an enemy while fighting using the "Grab" button.
Of course, keep in mind that you have both a quick attack and slow powerful attack (hold "Attack"). When you're done messing around, exit out of training and head to the marker.
Getting to Damascus
After you go through the gates you'll learn about
Horse Mount. Hop onto a horse and ride it along the path until you get to the next marker, "to Kingdom." Upon arriving, head through the archways.
After the load screen, and despite the game telling you to clear out the archers and soldiers in the area, just slowly ride forward until you see the lookout tower on the left.
This is a
View Point.
View Points - There are many View Points scattered throughout the game. They are marked by a circling eagle and on the Map as an eagle icon. You are rewarded for climbing to the top and hitting the "Synchronization" button with a Map Synchronization of the area surrounding that View Point. This will reveal Objectives, Investigation markers, hide spots, and other View Points.
Each area has "x" View Points. Activating them all helps to extend your Sync Meter (increase your health meter).

In this case, climb to the top, and you'll see that all of the Kingdom View Points, Objectives, and Hide Spots are marked on the Map for you in addition to the marker for Damascus (a crescent moon).
Head to the Damascus marker being sure to activate the two
View Points that you pass on your way there. When you arrive, go through the archways.
Tamir - Investigation
Damascus - Poor District
Ride down the path toward the city. You'll get the opportunity to
Save a Citizen. Do so by killing the men attacking him. Soon thereafter you'll be shown a group of Scholars. You can blend in with Scholars to get past guards. Scholars have their own icon which will appear on the GPS (you can view the Legend of icons in the Map).
Go up to the Scholars and hit the "Blend" button (you don't have to hold it down). You'll walk with the Scholars through the gates and past the guards. Once safely inside the city you can "Exit Blend".
Investigations - In order to locate the assassination target you must first do some research in the form of interrogation, pick pocketing, and eavesdropping. For this assassination you need 2 of 6 investigations. The best way to discover the locations of the investigations is to climb all of the View Points in an area so that all of the various investigation opportunities are marked on the Map.
Also note that after completing each investigation it is logged in the Memory Log in the Pause Menu. If you need to review the information of the investigation you can go here and look at it. Some investigations come with handy attachments as well which can aid you even further.

There is a tall tower extending up from the rooftops not far from where you entered. It may be labeled on the Map for you. Climb to the top of it and go out onto the wooden beam. Press the "Eagle Vision" button to activate the View Point. Doing so will mark the
Bureau Objective on the Map as well as reveal all of the View Points.
Head to the Bureau. The entrance is on the roof. Drop through the opening on the roof and walk into the Assassin's Bureau.
Assassin's Bureau - The Assassin's Bureau is like your home base in each city. They are accessed via the roof and cannot be entered if you have any sort of alert level.
If you visit the Bureau Leader, the man behind the counter, before your investigation he'll give you some advice on where to investigate. After you've completed your investigations you must visit the Bureau Leader to get your feather (marker), which grants you permission to carry out the assassination.
After you complete an assassination you must visit the Bureau again.

Before going around and investigating randomly I recommend that you find and climb all nine View Points. If you've already activated one View Point, the other eight should be marked on the Map for you. If they are not marked on the map for you yet, simply walk around the district and they'll show themselves. You can also visually locate them by going up onto the roofs and looking for the tall towers.
Once all nine View Points are activated, all six investigations will be marked. Again, you only need two investigations to begin the assassination (visit the Bureau after you have two), however, for completion's sake, below you'll find all six detailed.
Saving Citizens - It's also a good idea to Save Citizens when you have the opportunity. Not only will it help to extend your Sync Meter (health meter) but each time you Save a Citizen, his/her brothers and/or sons will hear about your bravery. This results in a group of men, Vigilantes or Scholars, in the location where you Saved the Citizen.
Vigilantes will interfere with pursuing soldiers in case you're trying to escape. Scholars will allow you to blend in with them. Therefore, the more Citizens that you Save, the more allies you'll have on the streets to help you escape.

Interrogation - West - Tamir is preoccupied with overseeing the production of weapons.
Climb and activate the View Point north of the Bureau (the closest one north of the Bureau). This will mark an Interrogation and an Eavesdropping marker on the map. Drop down to the street and locate the man preaching about Tamir and the Saracens. Lock on to him to initiate the Interrogation. Wait for him to start walking. Follow him to the back alley and wait for it to be clear. Beat up the man until he talks.
Eavesdropping - West - Using Vigilantes for distractions.
Head to the Eavesdropping marker, a public fountain. Locate the two men talking near the fountain. Sit down on a nearby bench, highlight one of the two men, and then lock on to him. You'll get the "Listen" button prompt. Do so.
You'll learn about Vigilantes, who are marked on the map with their own icon. These groups of men, dressed in black robes, are allies and will block pursuing soldiers.
Pick Pocket - North Central - Letter stating Tamir is receiving a large shipment.
Approach the target, a merchant behind booth, and lock on to him. Wait for him to start walking and then press and hold the "Pickpocket" button when you are near him. You'll get the letter.
Eavesdropping - South Central - The beams which cross the central courtyard can be accessed.
Eavesdrop on the two men taking to each other in a stall of the market.
Eavesdropping - Southeast - Tamir is within the souk.
Eavesdrop on the three men in brown robes on the side of the road.
Pick Pocket - East - Acquire map of the souk showing the northeastern roofs easily connecting to the central courtyards
Lock on to the bald man talking to another man near the fountain. Wait for the conversation to end and then follow him as he starts walking. Pick Pocket him for the map. To view it, go to Pause Menu >> Memory Log. Highlight this investigation and "View Attachment".
Tamir - Assassination
The first thing that you should know is that the
souk is the market (
learn more). It is the large stone structure on the east side of the map. There is an outer part to it and also an inner courtyard. Tamir is in the inner courtyard.
Get up onto the roof of the souk and start stealth killing any archers who are positioned there. Use the scaffolds to get up and over the arched roof of the outer souk so that you are looking down on the inner courtyard.
Jump to any of the hanging platforms near where Tamir is doing business (in the vine-covered middle structure). When you get onto a platform you'll get notification that your memory is synchronized and you'll lose most of your movement abilities. Don't worry, just move to the edge of the platform, push forward and hit the "Drop" button to drop down into the crowd near Tamir. A cutscene will ensue.
After the cutscene Tamir will walk around to the various vendors in the courtyard. Make sure that you have the Hidden Blade equipped (Up on the D-Pad) and slowly approach Tamir when his back is turned (when he's talking to a vendor, for example). When you are close enough you'll see the "Assassinate" button appear (same as the "Attack" button). Hit it to kill Tamir.
Oh crikeys! A city-wide alert has been issued. You are being hunted. Sprint out of the souk and climb any wall to get to the roofs. Find a roof garden to hide in until your alert level goes down.
Even though things are now quiet, the city-wide alert is still in effect. Any suspicious action you take will be noticed. Stick to the roofs as you make your way back to the Bureau. If you have any sort of alert level you won't be able to enter the bureau, so make sure that you are anonymous before you enter. When you enter, talk to the man there to end the mission.
Laboratory
Go to your bed and lay down. When you get up, head back to the Animus for some plot exposition.
