Memory Block 4 - Abu'l Nuqoud - Damascus

Enter the Animus.

Combat Training

For doing in the last bad guy you'll be rewarded with two new abilities: Catch Ledge and Grab Break.

When you exit you'll be taken to the training ring to practice the Grab Break, which allows you to counter attack a grab. While holding down the "Deflect" button, press the "Grab Break" button when you see an enemy attempt to grab you. You can actually perform this once you are grabbed, but it's best to do it as the enemy reaches out for you.

Grab Ledge allows you to grab onto a ledge if you are falling. The practical application for this is when you are being chased and trying to climb something the soldiers will throw rocks at you to make you fall off whatever it is you're climbing. As you fall, tap the "Catch Ledge" button (same as "Gentle Push" button) to grab onto a ledge.

Getting to Damascus

As you ride your horse through the archways to the Kingdom, you'll be asked where you want to go. In other words, you can now simply warp to the three main cities without having to ride all the way there. Select Damascus.

Abu'l Nuqoud - Investigation

Damascus - Poor District

Note - Because of your recent activity, the guards in the city will be more sensitive to your actions and will be more alert.

Locate the Scholars on your GPS and "Blend" with them to enter the city. Head to the Bureau and talk to the man behind the counter. `Go to the Rich District by heading west.

Damascus - Rich District

You'll probably notice right away that there are no markers for either View Points or Investigations. I suggest climbing to the any roof and looking for a View Point tower. Climb it and activate it to get the locations of all other View Points and Save Citizen locations marked on the map.

Per usual, I recommend that you activate all View Points (to get all the investigation markers) and Save Citizens to maximize your escape chances.

Note, for the central-east View Point tower you may have trouble climbing the upper part of it. When you get to the point where you can't climb any higher, use the railing and jump to the ledge of the window.

Pick Pocket - Southwest - Letter stating the Merchant King is holding a festival within his palace.

Lock on to the man in the orange robe, talking to another man, on the corner. Once he starts moving, pick pocket him. There is a "View Attachment" with this memory, so you may want to look at it.

Interrogation - Northwest - The Merchant King will come out and speak to his people during his feast.

Lock on to the man preaching about Abu'l Nuqoud. Wait for him to finish. He'll leave and will walk past the four guards. You'll have to sneak by. To do so, climb the scaffold on the right of the guards and then jump to the beams above them. Cross the beams above the guards to sneak by them. Use your GPS to track down the interrogation victim in the back alley. Beat him up.

Informer - Northwest - A fountain in the middle of the courtyard can be scaled.

One way to get into this fortress area is to go to the south of the marker. Locate the hanging platform which is near a break in the defensive outer wall. There is an archer guarding this break in the wall. Lock on to him and use a Throwing Knife to kill him. Wait a minute or so for the guards on the other side of the wall to get done investigating the archer you just killed. Climb up the nearby building, jump to the hanging platform, and then jump through the break in the wall.

Go up to the informer and talk to him. More flag collecting.

Start with the flag in the middle, over the well. Head north and climb the wall to the next flag. From here, head from flag to flag making a circuit back to the informer.

Eavesdropping - North - There is a passage leading up to the Merchant King's quarters.

Sit down on the bench. Lock on to the man in the orange robes talking to the woman. Eavesdrop on him. There is a "View Attachment" with this memory, so you may want to look at it.

Eavesdrop - East - The Merchant King is preparing for a feast.

This is town square area with a fountain in the middle and a man preaching. Sit down on the bench near the fountain and target the two men talking at the side of the square.

Informer - Southeast - Map detailing the position of Merchant King's guards.

You must kill two targets and return within 3:00 and not be spotted. They are marked on the map with an "X". Just make sure that there are no guards around when you sneak up behind them and assassinate them. There is a "View Attachment" with this memory, so you may want to look at it.

Abu'l Nuqoud - Assassination

Head to the Bureau to get the assassination marker.

Before you start this assassination, take a look at the two attachments from your Investigation which show the path to Nuqoud's quarters and the guards' positions.

When you arrive at the northeast of the palace you'll see that it is surrounded by a wrought-iron fence. There are four guards manning the entrance to the outer area of the palace. If you Saved the Citizen nearby you'll see that there is a group of Scholars not far away. Blend in with them and they'll lead you past the four guards.

Head up the stairs and enter the party. Walk up to the fountain and you'll get a cutscene of Nuqoud speaking to his people from the balcony. Once the chaos ensues, climb the statue of the fountain and then make your way to the balcony.

Make sure that your Hidden Blade is equipped and then begin the chase. When you are close to him, lock on to him, and hit the "Assassinate" button to jump forward and kill him.

As for escaping, I suggest that you just stay on the run until you are near the Bureau. At that point, lose your enemies. I say this because if you hide right away chances are that you'll be seen again on your way to the Bureau, so you may as well just run for it and then hide once near the Bureau. When everything is quiet, enter the Bureau and talk to the Bureau Leader.

Choose to fast forward to Masyaf.

Memory Block 4, cont. - William de Montferrat - Acre

Combat Training

You'll be rewarded with Regain Balance and Dodge and Sword Expertise (more damage).

Exit out to practice your new skill, Dodge. While holding the "Deflect" button, press the "Dodge" button to dodge an attack. You can follow up with a normal attack if you wish.

Getting to Acre

Like before, just ride your horse to the Kingdom and select to be warped to Acre.

William de Montferrat - Investigation

Acre - Poor District

Calmly ride into town or you'll alert all of the soldier. Dismount near the Scholars and Blend with them to enter the city.

Make your way to the Bureau and chat with the Bureau Leader.

Acre - Rich District

Per usual, look for a View Point tower, climb it and activate it to reveal all of the other View Points. Go around and activate each View Point and Save as many Citizens as you can/want.

Note, to climb the church tower View Point (south central), climb the front doors near the man preaching and the two guards (east end of church). Shimmy right and then jump to the ledge above and to the right. Jump back to the arched part of the window and then climb up to the large circular stained-glass window. Climb it and you'll make it up the rest of the way without any problem.

Another difficult one is the far southwest citadel tower. You'll have to do some jumping here as well. Remember to use railings (side walls) to your advantage to gain height to jump. Remember, also, that when standing on a ledge (like on the upper circular tower), you can jump straight up.

Pick Pocket - Southeast - A forgotten structure can pose a potential entrance.

To get inside the structure climb any of the scaffold on the outer wall. Drop in and target the two men talking. When they break up, Pick Pocket the man with the pouch. There is a "View Attachment" with this memory, so you may want to look at it.

Interrogation - South - William will be distracted today by Richard's visit.

Lock on to the man preaching. When he moves follow him quite some time until you get into the foggy street with few people. Beat him up there.

Informer - Southwest - William will retreat to the back of his citadel when challenged by King Richard.

Talk to the informer. More flags. Facing him, go down the road along the right side collecting flags. Continue the circuit and go back to him. If you do alert any guards, you'll need to regain Anonymity before you return to the informer.

Pick Pocket - Southwest - Map which holds the positions of William's archers.

Lock on to the man with the white beard talking to the younger man. Pick pocket him after the conversation. There is a "View Attachment" with this memory, so you may want to look at it.

Pick Pocket - West - Another man in the harbor seems connected to William.

Target the man in the robe with hood talking near the wall. There is a "View Attachment" with this memory, so you may want to look at it.

Informer - Central - If the citadel's gates close, climbing the walls will be the only escape.

You must kill two targets. There is no time limit on this one so take your time. Don't assassinate them in front of any soldiers, of which there are many. Be patient and strike when only civilians are around.

William de Montferrat - Assassination

Memory Block 4, cont. - Majd Addin - Jerusalem

Combat Training

Nothing really new here except that you have gained Extra Throwing Knives. You can now carry 10. Very nice.

Getting to Jerusalem

Ride a horse to the Kingdom and choose to warp to Jerusalem.

Majd Addin - Investigation

Jerusalem - Rich District

Blend with the scholars to enter the city. Head to the Bureau.

Jerusalem - Poor District

Head south to the Poor District. When you arrive, climb any building and look for a View Point tower. When you find one, climb it to reveal the other five View Points. Activate each one and while you're at it, take out any roof archers who are bothering you. Also, Save some Citizens.

High Alert Guards - The guards/soldiers from here on out are on high alert (my words, not the game's). That means that any odd action may set them off. This also means that you'll be doing a lot of running and hiding. If you're really sick of that whole routine, then go ahead and kill your pursuers. It may actually save you some time.

Pick Pocket - East - Map detailing the position of Majd Addin's guards.

Target the man in the white/ivory shirt. Wait for him to finish talking and then pick pocket him. There is a "View Attachment" with this memory, so you may want to look at it.

Pick Pocket - Central - Map showing the position of execution plaza.

Target the man in the white/ivory shirt. Wait for him to finish talking. He'll walk past three guards whom you don't want to disturb. Don't worry, though, because he just makes a circle. Head to the left of these guards and wait for the target to come past you. Pick pocket him. There is a "View Attachment" with this memory, so you may want to look at it.

Informer - West - A few Scholars will try to enter the execution area.

Stealth Kill the two targets and return to the informer.

Interrogation - Southwest - Majd Addin has decided to rule Jerusalem through fear.

Lock on to the man preaching. When he gets to the alley, beat him up. If any thugs join in on the fisticuffs just ignore them and continue punching the target.

Informer - Southwest - Majd Addin turns his back to the crowd during his speeches.

Stealth Kill the three targets. Kill the one on the roof with a Throwing Knife. If need be, hold the "Blend" button the entire time after the three kills on the way back to the informer.

Eavesdropping - South - Majd Addin is performing an execution today.

Target the two men wearing full head scarves while you're sitting on the bench.

Majd Addin - Assassination

Visit the Bureau for the assassination marker.

There's a wrinkle in this assassination. One of the men to be executed is a brother assassin. You must kill Majd Addin before he executes this man.

Method 1

Head to the area near the marker, you'll note that the execution site is being guarded at all entrances. Locate the Save Citizen marker to the southwest of the marker (not far from the marker). Save this Citizen to create a group of Scholars.

"Blend" with the Scholars and they'll lead you past the guards. Let them take you all the way to the execution plaza.

Listen to Addin's speech. When it's finished, don't do anything sudden or obvious as the guards are on super-alert. The best method that I found is to get above the stage, on the right.

Here's how to do this. Facing the stage, from the back of the crowd, head right (south) down the road. Take your first left. You'll reach a dead end with a water well and hay on the ground.

Climb up the building separating you from the stage. Don't worry if there is an archer up here. Move forward a touch and drop down to the left side of the lower balcony/roof. Equip the Hidden Blade. Lock on to Addin as he's talking to the woman to be executed. Run and jump off the roof. While in the air, hit the "Assassinate" button to kill him in one action.

Note that if you jump from too far to the right you'll run into a tree and will botch the attempt. Make sure that you have a clear line between you and the target. Also, don't worry about the alert when you get up on the roof. If you do this quickly, it won't matter.

If you fail, just let yourself be killed and try again. If you're having trouble, try running and jumping from even farther to the left from the main roof (not the smaller lower roof).

To escape, climb the ladder to the right of the stage (if facing the stage) and then jump off the building into the hay below. If you got lucky, you'll be hiding. If the guards are still alerted, simply run/climb like crazy toward the Bureau. Attempt to run by some Vigilantes (hopefully you saved some Citizens) to give yourself an advantage.

When you are back to being Anonymous, enter the Bureau.

You'll be automatically brought back to the laboratory.

Method 2

Do the same as above to get into the execution area. After the speech, locate the group of Scholars. "Blend" in with them and they'll lead you right up to the stage. Attack Addin from here.

Laboratory

Enter your room so that Lucy can leave. Exit back out (if you haven't gotten the code from the closet yet, do so). Access the Animus terminal to see an "Outbox" email from Lucy. That's it. Lie down and go to sleep.
