RUSSIAN CAMPAIGN

The Winter War - Red Army Training

This is a very basic training level. I'm not going to list every objective as that would be silly. Just follow the directions to learn the basics of shooting, aiming, throwing grenades etc.

Simply follow the Yellow Star on the compass to each of your objectives. The objectives will be glowing yellow in order to make it nice and easy for you.

From the start, you'll be too slow and all the other soldier will have picked up the weapons on the table. You'll have to go into the house and then the side room of the house to find two weapons. I could see how getting into the second room in the house could be confusing to the beginner, so just go into the house and hang a left into the next room.

When it comes to shooting, there is a row of plates, a row of wine bottles, and a row of helmets in the distance. Listen to the Commissar or check your objectives to find out what he wants you to do.

When you get to the potato throwing Grenade simulation, look for the glowing targets. Throw a Grenade into/through the targets. Adjust your aim up or down if you're coming up short or too long.

After the potatoes, follow the Commissar into the house where you picked up your weapons. The prisoner who is there tells you of an attack.

Make Your Way to the Armory

Finally, some real action. Follow your fellow troops outside, hop over the low wall when prompted, and continue forward. You'll learn how to crouch to duck under a wall.

Follow the trench (you'll learn how to lay down, go prone). It leads to a basement. On a table in the basement are various weapons and Grenades. Switch weapons so that you have your Pistol equipped. Go to the table and switch out the Pistol for a Sub-Machine Gun (SMG). It will be the PPSh. Reload your SMG with your "X" button and prepare for battle.

Climb up the ladder. Once at the top, you'll see a building across from you. There is a road that you have to cross. Throw a Smoke Grenade into the road to cover your movement. Make sure to wait a few seconds for the smoke to fill up the area before you move. Cross the road.

Plant your explosives on the Panzerwerfer

Exit the other side of the building and you'll see several Germans exit the back of an armored truck. Shoot them. Continue up the street fighting as you go. Watch out for the MG42 (stationary machine gun) gunner in the second story brick building on the right side of the street. Toss a Grenade up there. When you clear out the first area, a comrade will tell you, "There's the Panzerwerfer", find a way around the gate.

The Panzerwerfer is the armored truck on the other side of the gate. Follow your men into the rubble of the houses and fight your way through. When you get to the Germans behind the sandbags, note the red barrels to the right of them. Shoot the barrels to make them explode. Continue to the area with the Panzerwerfer.

Clear the area and then locate the glowing part of the Panzerwerfer (armored truck) at the front right of it. Approach it and wait for the prompt, "Hold X to place the explosives". Hold "X" to do so. You'll see a timer appear above your compass.

Get away from it so it doesn't hurt you when it explodes.

The Winter War - Demolition

Rendezvous with the defensive line at Solechnaya St.

Clear out the store and then look across the street to the large brick building. This is major German stronghold. Crouch, equip your Rifle, and shoot through any of the various windows picking off the Germans outside of and in the large brick building. As Germans die and things start to settle down, slowly advance on the brick building.

Enter the brick building and clear out the enemies with your SMG. Make your way through the building (you'll learn how to use your binoculars, click down on and hold the Left Trigger) and go down the stairs to the basement.

Crouch and make your way along the trench. You'll enter the basement of another building. Go up the stairs where you'll be joined by other friendly troops. You have to hold off the Germans.

Repulse the German Attack

In a room on the left is a Sniper Rifle (Scoped Mosin-Nagant). Trade it for your regular Rifle. Start picking off enemies. Be aware, though, that some may have slipped by and will charge you. Several may stack up outside the window. Switch to your SMG and mow them down. After a short while you'll have repulsed the attack.

Clear out the German hardpoint on the far side of the intersection.

Charge!!! Well, charge with caution. Use the Sniper Rifle from a safe distance to help your comrades clear the area between you and the German hardpoint. As you advance, I recommend staying on the right side of the area. From here, you an flank the Germans behind the sandbags near the building (toss a few grenades their way) and then you can slowly pick off the ones manning the MG42s (stationary machine guns) in the windows of the building. When things are relatively quiet, enter the building.

Inside this building there is a path to the left, a path to the right, and a staircase up the middle. Watch for enemies coming from both the right and left. Choose either path and clear the back room.

Report to Lt. Leonov

Follow your Compass to Leonov at the top of the staircase (wait a second if he isn't there yet). He tells you to find some explosives. Follow your compass to the engineer, who has explosives. Pick them up.

Plant explosives throughout the building.

There are three places where you have to plant explosives; each marked on your Compass. Watch out for any remaining enemies who may pop out. Otherwise, simply plant the explosives and then get the heck out of there. Watch as the building explodes and collapses.

Victory!

"Not One Step Backwards!" - Repairing the Wire

You'll be following the phone wire throughout this mission. There are six places where the wire need repairing. Each broken part of the wire will glow. Simply hold down "X" when prompted to repair the wire.

Repair the field phone wire. (6 remaining)

Follow the wire on the ground to the first glowing segment. You'll take some fire crossing the road but it won't kill you. Repair the wire (1 of 6).

You are now inside a blown out office with many desks. Work your way West, through the building, keeping an eye out for Grenades. On the other side you'll be able to pick up the trail of the wire. You'll see the next broken segment leading into the ground floor of a brick building. Repair the wire (2 of 6).

Clear the building and follow the wire to the second floor. From the hole in the wall, pick off the Germans below. Drop down to the road and follow the wire around the corner. Get ready for a big fight. Keep your eye on the MG42 (stationary machine gun behind the sandbags). Kill anybody who mans it. After you have the road clear try to find a Gewehr 43 Rifle. It's the rifle I prefer. Just past the MG42, you'll find the next segment of broken wire. Repair it (3 of 6).

Follow the wire into the building on the right. Make your way through the building, clearing out the various floors of enemies. When it's clear, go up the stairs to find the next repair (4 of 6).

Watch out for more enemies coming at you from the top of the stairs. Continue to follow the wire to the next repair area, it's quite close and repair it (5 of 6). To the left of the repair area you'll see a MG42 and a Sniper Rifle. Man the MG42 and spray the area below (where there's an obelisk). You'll see your crosshairs turn red when you're aiming at an enemy. When you hear and see your fellow soldiers start to charge the area, don't fire any more. You don't want to hit them. Alternatively, you could use the Sniper Rifle to pick off enemies.

Continue to follow the wire, cross the wooden planks, and start picking off enemies on the other side of the low wall. When it's safe, jump over the low wall (you have to be standing, not crouching) and clear the floor. Note that the wire heads down the stairs. Follow it, clearing enemies as you go. Keep follow the wire down and repair the final segment (6 of 6).

Use the field phone and pick up the sticky bombs.

Follow the wire to the glowing field phone. Activate it with "X". Then pick up the Explosives (Sticky Bombs) to the left of the phone.

Hunt down and disable the Panzer II tanks (3 remaining).

Time to use those sticky bombs! Head up the stairs and follow your men into the next room. Clear it out. You'll see a MG42 mounted near a window. Man it and kill any Germans below. When you see the Tank come around the corner, unman the MG42 or you'll get blasted. Once the tank comes to a stop, re-man the MG42 and kill the many Germans below. When only the Tank remains (a few more enemies may come, don't worry about them) head to the left side of the building and hop down to the road. Run directly to the Tank and plant a sticky bomb on any glowing area. Run back in the direction you came from. The sticky bomb will have disabled the tank. Wait for your men to go to the tank and blow it up (1 of 3) by dropping grenades in the hatch.

Fight your way to the next objective icon. When you arrive in the right area, you'll notice that both Tanks will appear on your radar (although only one is in the area). It is making its rounds, driving around the block. In the middle of the block is a blown out building with several of Germans. Head into the building and clear it out. From this middle building, you can wait for the Tank to pass, hop out onto the road, chase it down and plant a sticky bomb. Then, re-enter the building for cover and wait for it to blow up (2 of 3).

Follow your icon to the next Tank, fighting along the road as you go. You'll soon end up in the Obelisk square that you shot down on earlier. Clear the square and then sticky bomb the tank (3 of 3).

Follow your men until the chapter ends.

"Not One Step Backwards!" - The Pipeline

Regroup with second squad at trainyard.

Crouch and enter the pipe. Follow the pipe, shooting down on any enemies that you can see from the holes in the pipe. Eventually you'll exit the pipe at the train station. Watch out for Grenades along the way in the pipe.

Once you are in the train station, head down the stairs and follow your comrades outside. Make your way to the trench.

Capture the enemy HQ in the Station House

In the trench you'll find a Sniper Rifle (Scoped Gewehr 43). Use it to pick off the enemies in the station house (the tall building) and then follow your comrades and start taking out enemies in the building to the right of the station house. Remember that when zoomed-in with the Sniper Rifle you can click down on the Left Control Stick to steady your aim.

When you've cleared most of the enemies on the outside, charge the building from the left side, kill the enemies inside and fight your way up the stairs to the top of the Station House.

Defend the Station House

Instead of trying to pick off the enemies from the windows, just wait for the enemies to try to come up the stairs. As they come up, fire on them or toss a Grenade or two at them. Watch out for Grenades. Keep this up until you get your next objective.

Use sticky bombs to destroy the enemy tank.

You know the routine here. Fight your way to the Tank by using your Sniper Rifle on each of the MG42s. Then, place a sticky bomb on the Tank and run away.

(A) Clear the suspected enemy supply dumps. (B) Eliminate the enemy forward position. (C) Eliminate the enemy machine gun position.

Fight your way through the next building and towards your objective. Keep heading East and you'll soon see that there are 3 objectives that you can do. It doesn't matter in which order you do them.

SIGN UP FOR THE LUNAPASS!
I recommend taking on (C) first. Continue East. Take cover behind the Panzerwerfer (you may remember this truck from your first mission). Using your Sniper Rifle, take out the enemy MG42 and all of the men behind the sandbags. Be aware that there may be some enemies to your left (North). If you see red dots, pick them off, then reconcentrate on the objective.

Next, head to (A) by flanking it from the right. Along the way, watch out for enemies shooting down at your from the second floor of the building on the left. Pick them off. From the right, flank (A) and kill the enemies to complete the objective.

Head toward (B) and enter the building via the entry way on the first floor. Head up the stairs and clear the building.

Meet up with your comrades by following the compass to the icon (they're in a fox hole outside).

Fortress Stalingrad - Downtown Assault

Recapture the apartment buildings (3 remaining).

You start out with an SMG and a Pistol. As as soon as you find one, trade in the Pistol for a Rifle. From the start, move toward the icon on your compass. There is an exploding barrel on the right; shoot it. Head into the apt. building on the right and go up the stairs. Clear it out (1 of 3).

Go to the top floor where you'll find a Kar98k Rifle. You'll see that the next apt. building is across from you. Shoot down on the Germans below (note the red barrel). Three waves will come and then a Tank. Once the tank arrives you'll get a new objective.

Find the Sticky Bombs and Destroy the Tank

Go back down to the ground level and cross the street to the building across from you. In the bathroom you'll find some sticky bombs. I recommend quickly jumping out the window, planting the sticky bomb on the tread of the Tank, and then running back from where you came. Your men will finish off the Tank if it didn't blow up.

Recapture the apartment buildings (2 remaining).

If you haven't already, re-enter the same building where you got the sticky bombs to find a door has opened. Kill the Germans who come out. Clear out the rest of the Germans to recapture this apt. building (2 of 3).

Follow your men to the windows and you'll see the third apt. building you need to recapture. Pick off the enemies in the windows and the MG42 to the right of the building. Then, charge the building and clear it of all enemies (3 of 3) by first clearing the ground floor and then the second floor.

Help your comrades destroy the ammo depot.

From the second floor, head through the partially covered doorway. Here you'll see two MG42s mounted near some windows. Take control of one of them and starting raining down fire on any enemies that you see: left, middle, and right. Be careful not to hit your own men. As you watch your men charge the ammo depot, look for enemies on the second floor of the left building. Soon, you'll be told that the objective is complete.

Destroy the second tank with a sticky bomb.

The tank has blown a hole in the wall. Go through the hole and drop down to the ground. Work your way North killing the many enemies and avoiding the Tank. When the area is relatively clear, focus on getting to the Tank.

Advance upon City Hall

Follow your men into the next building and go up the stairs. Continue to follow and the chapter will end.

Fortress Stalingrad - City Hall

Reach City Hall.

Fight your way to City Hall. There are various street battles, one after the other. No advice. Just get good at killing the enemy. The objective icon leads you to a door where you need to place some explosives. You already have the explosive. Hold "X" to place the bomb. Chapter complete.

Fortress Stalingrad - Comrade Sniper

Work your way through the building, head up the stairs, and then drop down through the hole in the ceiling where your comrades are waiting. In this next room you'll see a comrade get shot by a sniper. On the floor is a Sniper Rifle. Pick it up.

Kill the enemy sniper.

The hard part here is locating the sniper. Wait for one of your men to lure out the sniper. He'll tell you where the sniper is located. The sniper's position is different each time you play through. Listen to what your comrade says. If he says 4th floor, left building. He means to look at the 4th floor of the building on the left, the red one. If he says 4th floor, gray building, he means look to the 4th floor of the building on the right.

Using your comrade's general directions, zoom in on the area where you think the sniper will be. He'll probably get a shot in on you. Take cover to recover. Then, peek out again and try to shoot him. Repeat this until he is dead. Remember to click down on your Left Control Stick while zooming in order to steady your aim.

Secure the west wing of city hall.

I recommend keeping the Sniper Rifle. Make sure your other weapon is an SMG of some kind (I'm using the MP40). Follow your men up the ladder. Hop over the wall and enter the next room. Clear out this second floor and then head down the stairs and clear out the lower floor.

Repulse the enemy attack waves (4 Remaining).

This is basically a game of survival at this point. As good as you are with sniping enemies from the 2nd floor windows, inevitably, some will make it into the building and up either staircase. My best advice is to hang out at the bottom of the West stairwell. Watch your radar for enemies. Pick off any that you can from the first floor windows, but otherwise, wait for them to come to you. The first two waves will be easily repulsed by your comrades. The last two waves you will see several enemies clustered together, attacking you. Use your SMG from the stairwell to kill them when they're all grouped together. Don't worry about your comrades yelling about MG42s on the move and anti-tank weapons. Just hold your ground and soon all the waves will be repulsed.

That's it. The Russian campaign is complete.
