|
Move forward and start shooting the Germans in the area. Enter the trench, kill the Germans there, and then watch for two more Germans to run along the ground from right to left. Shoot them and you'll have neutralized the first hard point.
Follow the trench to the big Artillery Gun, go past it and into the next trench. You'll see a bunker on your left. Enter and clear it out. Exit and continue along the trench (there's only one path you can take). Clear the two men manning the MG42s. This will neutralize the second hard point.
Continue in the trench. You'll reach a bunker on your right. Enter and clear it out. Approach the ladder inside the bunker. A few Grenades will probably be thrown down at you. Back up and wait for them to explode. Then, go up the ladder and kill the two MG42 gunners. This will neutralize the third hardpoint.
Go back down the ladder, exit the bunker, and locate your men nearby. Backtrack along the trench slightly and veer left. You'll know you're in the right place when you encounter more Germans in the trench. Go past the above-ground MG42 bunker (pillbox) and into the open depot area. Kill any resistance and then go to your icon to meet up with Capt. Price.
The three ammo stockpiles are wooden crates in each of the three semi-underground bunkers in the area. Each set of crates has a glowing area where you need to place an explosive charge (you automatically have the explosives). The fuel barrels are red. Shoot them to make them explode. There is not a better or worse path to take here. Just kill any enemies and destroy what you're asked to destroy.
I do recommend going for the barrels first, which will help to kill some enemies, and then clearing the rest of the enemies. The last step should be to go to each of the bunkers to destroy the crates. Otherwise, when you run away from the crates to avoid the explosions you may run directly into enemy fire.
Follow your fellow troops to the bunker door. One of them will blow it open for you. Enter. Work your way through the bunker, clearing it as you go. In the last room, on a picnic table, you'll see a glowing document. Grab it.
Backtrack out of the bunker and rendezvous with Capt. Price at the icon on your compass.
In this mission you'll have to defend various sides of the town, so pay attention to your compass.
After the truck you're in crashes, head North to the trench and look to your right to find an MG42. Man it. You'll be facing South. Start shooting anything that moves. You'll soon see a dozens of enemies in the distance. Just keep firing until you're told to move to the next part of town.
Un-man the MG42 and run past the spotlight to the West side of town, killing as you go. There is no MG42 here, so you'll have to do it the old fashioned way. Go into the trench and kill any Germans that come your way. Keep an eye out for red dots on your radar to see if any have slipped by. As tempting as it is to man the Flak 88 gun, it isn't worth your while. Keep killing until your told to defend the next part of town.
Follow your men to the SW side of town and take a defensive position near the Flak 88 gun (I recommend not going into the trench). From here, you have a better line of fire. Keep an eye on the red dots on your radar and pick off the enemies as they near the trench in front of you. Do this until you're told to move.
Follow your men to the North side of town. You'll see an MG42 mounted on some crates. Man it and start shooting into the desert. Be careful not to hit your own men. Keep firing until you get confirmation that you've succeeded in defending this part of town.
Run to the icon on your compass; a building. Go up the stairs and use the ladder to get to the roof of the building. From here you'll be using your binoculars to call in artillery on the enemy tanks. The objective will tell you what direction to face.
Repeat this for the other tank and then look to your objectives to see what direction you need to face for the remaining tanks. When the last tank is destroyed the chapter will end.
Follow the tank and enter the tunnel in front of you. Go through the tunnel, killing as you go. You'll come out on the other side where you can continue to follow your tanks.
Follow the tanks until you're told to take out the Flak 88 guns (the large artillery/anti-tank guns). Your first one is marked on your compass although the path there is a tad roundabout. Enter the trench and go through the tunnel. After you exit the tunnel, look for a path to your right which leads to a bunker. Enter the bunker. Climb down the ladder and then enter the tunnel. On the other side of the tunnel you'll find the first Flak 88 gun. Kill the Germans around it (1 of 5).
Continue along the trench and enter the next bunker. Go up the stairs and exit the bunker. Continue along the trench and you'll get to a Flak 88 gun inside a bunker. If you got here quietly, the crew won't know you're there and you can toss a Grenade in to kill them all at once. Otherwise, take them out however you want (2 of 5).
On the left side of this bunker is a tunnel. Go through the tunnel. On the other side you'll be asked to follow the tanks again. Do so.
You'll soon reach another trench. Before you enter the tunnel watch as a tank destroys the Flak 88 gun to the right, saving you some work (3 of 5).
Follow the tunnel/trench to the next Flak 88 gun and destroy the crew (4 of 5).
Keep following the trench to the next Flak 88 gun and kill everybody around it (5 of 5).
Backtrack to where you men are standing and wait for them to blow the door off one of the barracks. Enter the barracks and kill everybody inside.
Continue through the barracks to the tunnel. Follow the tunnel. On the other side you'll see a three-building outpost below. Kill any Germans you can. When it's relatively safe, enter the building with the red Nazi banners on it. Fight your way up the stairs. At the top, locate the radio room. Once you do, the radio will start to glow. Use the radio to end the mission.
You're in for a tough battle. Hop out of the back of your truck and head East in order to flank the enemy position from the right. First, you'll have to fight through some enemies behind some sandbags. Then, concentrate on the MG42 in the second story window.
Once the area is clear, go through the door of the building where your men are waiting. Go along the hallway. On the other side, you'll be in an alley. Kill the MG42 gunner laying down and the other two enemies. Continue along the path. You'll soon see the first of four naval artillery crews; on the right. Toss a Grenade at them (1 of 4).
The other three artillery guns are all in a row. Make your way down the docks. Watch out for enemies on roof tops and keep a keen eye out for any red barrels that you can use to your advantage. When all four crews are eliminated you'll get your next objective.
Fight your way forward and you'll soon see a heavily guarded building with red Nazi banner on it. This is the com station. Fight your way into it and head up the stairs. You'll see a glowing radio on the balcony. Use it to signal the fleet.
Exit the com station and head towards the icon on your compass. You'll get to a well-defended street. Notice the pathway to your left, beginning at the steel cage door. Take this path. At the end of it, a door will blow open and several Germans will emerge firing at you. Kill them and enter the building. Continue to follow the path which leads to a second floor vantage point where you can easily fire down on the two MG42s defending the road.
From this same vantage point, look across the area to find the building with the red Nazi banners. This is the HQ. Kill the enemies on the roof and balcony. Then, clear out any additional roof/balcony enemies in the area. Hop down and enter the HQ. Fight your way upstairs and locate the glowing dispatches on the table.
Fight your way back to the docks (the icon on your compass) to end the mission.
The next two missions require that you drive a tank. I'm not going to detail each and every part of these missions as they are too open ended and enemy tanks will move around differently. Below you'll find all the advice you'll need to get familiar with and become adept at driving a tank. If you're new to video games this can be challenging. Heck, even if you're an experienced pro driving a tank can be a pain in the rear. Fortunately this game has good controls.

Here is how to read the tank icon to the right of your compass, in conjunction with the compass: There is a small arrow (triangle) at the front of the tank. This lets you know where your tank is pointing in relation to the turret. The compass will rotate in relation to the direction of the turret (the way you're facing), not in relation to the direction of the tank. To test this, drive North. Turn your turret to face South. Note that the tank icon will turn with the compass showing you that the tank is still headed North, even if you're facing South. In this position, if you push forward on the control stick your tank will continue to the North.
Having said all of that, it's actually quite easy to maneuver the tank. I won't be able to tell you exactly where and how each enemy tank or position will react to you. It's up to you to follow the icon on your compass to the tanks/positions you need to destroy.
When it comes to destroying enemy tanks try to hit them in the rear or on the side where they are weaker. You can aim long distance by using your binoculars (click down and hold the Left Control Stick). Also, if you find that you're lost or stuck, locate your fellow tanks to see where they are heading.
Good luck and happy driving!
See the previous chapter for advice on driving the tank. If you get lost in this mission and your crew is telling you, "You're going the wrong way," then simply look for your fellow tanks on your compass (the white blocks) and head toward them.
Man the MG42 in front of you and mow down any enemies that you see. Note the red barrels on the left. Don't forget about enemies coming from the right or on the rooftop across from you. When you see the armored truck coming your way, un-man the MG42 (or stay there and get blasted). Either way, just wait until the back door opens. Germans will come through the door.
Head down the stairs and exit the building. You'll come out onto a road that is being guarded by a tank. You need to get to the armored car. Head West and then South to the area with the armored car. Clear the area. You can actually flank the armored car from the rear if you want. When it's clear, your fellow soldiers will drive the car. You need to hop into the back of it, thus manning the turret gun.
Note the vertical "heat" meter on the right of your screen. Your gun can overheat. Don't let that happen or you'll have to wait for it to cool down. If, for some reason, you want to switch to your regular weapon you can hit "X" to do so, but I don't recommend it.
Pulse your fire to avoid overheating. As you make your way through town be especially alert for enemies with anti-tank weapons (panzerschrecks). You'll recognize them because they're the ones with the big gun over their shoulder and you'll hear your fellow soldiers yell out, "Panzerschreck!" (translated: Tank Terror). Take them out first. They can often be on rooftops or on balconies. Also, keep your eye out for any red barrels that can help you. Finally, if you don't know from where you're being attacked, keep an eye on the compass for red dots. After a good deal of driving around you'll be thrown from the armored car.
Now on foot, continue to make your way towards the rally point (the icon on your compass). You'll have to climb a ladder up a wall to get to the next area. Do your best to try different paths in an attempt to find a good route to flank the enemy. If you get confused, locate your fellow soldiers and go to them. Soon enough you'll hear them say that the, "Rally point is just ahead." You'll also hear some music start playing. At this point, keep advancing toward the icon on your compass to end the mission.
You start out riding on a tank. Your tank caravan will be attacked. Kill the Germans in front of you. Continue on and locate the red barrels near the Flak 88 gun. Shoot the barrels to kill the nearby Germans. Continue on and you'll soon get to an area where there are several enemies on the roof tops shooting down on you (the observation point). Pick them off and then climb the ladder onto the roof top (a fellow soldier raises the ladder so it may take a second).
From the roof tops, drop down via the hole in the wall where your fellow soldier are located. You'll soon come to a well-guarded Flak 88 position (there is an upper road that goes up and around the position). Kill the Germans (watch out for enemies from behind). Soon thereafter an enemy transport truck will arrive with reinforcements. Kill them.
Work your way up and around the road, thus ending up above the Flak 88 position. Continue SW and you'll see an enemy tank in the next area. Work your way down the road until your own tank comes onto the scene.
Follow this tank until it explodes. From here on out it's a street battle. Locate the remaining three Flak 88s and kill any and all Germans in the area. There is no specific path to take. Be patient. Take cover when necessary and keep an eye on your compass so that you're not surprised by enemy movement. There is ample opportunity to flank enemy positions; explore the various side streets.
The last objective is to capture the Mosque. Head to the icon on your compass. Most of the resistance is up on the balcony. If you have any Grenades left, throw them up there. If not, pick off the enemy with your Rifle as you watch your fellow soldier charge the balcony.
When it's clear, go up to the Mosque balcony to end the mission.
Once again you're riding in a truck at the beginning of this mission. You'll get in a wreck and will be on foot. It's an ambush. You are cornered in an alley. The best place to take cover is between the transport truck and the crates/barrels. From here, pull out your Rifle and pick off any enemies that you can. Watch out for Grenades.
One of your fellow soldiers will soon announce that the side gate is open. The gate is along the North wall of the alley. Go through it.
Work your way forward, towards the building with the red Nazi banner. Take cover behind the crates. Head along the left path taking out the many Germans. From this side, you can flank the MG42 gunner.
You'll have to take a round about way to the objective. You'll see a huge explosion and smoke cloud to the South. Head that direction and watch out for the MG42 in the second story window. Take him out, a well-thrown Grenade works well, and continue forward. You'll have to deal with many more enemies and an armored car. If you're lucky, you may be able to pick off the gunner in the armored car.
After you pass through the archway you'll see the Anti-Aircraft (AA) gun in the middle of this area. Kill off the remaining Germans paying special attention to those on the rooftops.
Go up to the AA gun and man it. Look to the West. Shoot the dozen or so planes that fly over. The mission will end.
This set of British missions will be out of order if you are playing straight through the game. After the last mission, "Assault on Matmata," the game takes you to the American Campaign, D-Day, "The Battle of Pointe du Hoc." If that's the mission you're stuck on, go down to the American Campaign section where you'll find it.
If you are looking at the Mission Select screen you'll see that this set of missions is directly after "Rommel's Last Stand" set of missions, which is why it is organized as such in this guide.
Work your way North, killing as you go. After you clear the bombed out yard you'll be told to take out some mortars.
Fight your way through the house and out the other side. In this yard you'll find the first of two mortar teams. Kill everybody in the yard. Watch out for the MG42 in the second story window of the house to the SW. Before you continue, go through the house which leads to the second mortar team. Eliminate them.
Continue to head in the direction of the icon on your compass. Keep your eye out for open doors that you can enter to go through houses. Often, if you go upstairs in a house, you'll end up with a good vantage point from which to shoot down on enemies or take out MG42 positions.
When you get to the house to the right of the "Hotel du Cheval Noir" enter and clear it out. Then, follow your men to the back door. One of them will kick it open. On the outside are some Germans troops who beg you not to shoot. They'll be taken prisoner. You'll also find some fellow soldier who are wounded. You need to get a truck and to drive them away.
Time to do some backtracking. Follow McGregor all the way back to the truck near where you began this mission. Take out the few enemies that you encounter on the way back. Hop into the back of the truck. Note that there is a Panzerschreck in here. You'll need it later. For now, pick off any enemies you can while McGregor drives. Look for the red barrels. If you're taking damage, crouch. Soon, an enemy tank will chase you. Switch weapons to the Panzerschreck. Two hits will destroy the tank.
The truck will soon stop by the Hotel. The mission will end.
Follow your men along the road. Enter the house on the right with the open door. Clear the house. Exit the house and head SW to the opening in the wall. Take out the Germans in the destroyed house to the West. Work your way forward to the iron gate and you'll get a new objective.
Enter the house to the right of the iron gate, clear it, go up the stairs, and then locate the Panzerschreck amongst some crates by the window. You are directly above the Tiger tank. Grab the Panzerschreck. Aim down at it from the right-side window (otherwise you'll hit the window sill) and fire two rounds at it. It'll blow up.
Meet up with Cpt. Price and watch as he hops through an opening in a wall. Follow him.
After you hop through the wall, enter the house on your left. Clear it out and then take out the MG42 in the yard. Continue to clear out the various well-guarded houses as you make your way toward the icon on your compass. As you make your way down the road you'll hear and then see "enemy armor" headed your way. One of your fellow soldiers will take out the armor.
Enter the house at the end of the road, past the armor. From inside you can take out the Germans guarding the crossroads. Keep up your fire on them and they'll retreat.
Follow your fellow soldiers to an iron gate. It will get kicked open. Storm the farm house and clear it.
Go to the back side of the barn. You'll find an open door. Enter and clear it out. Go to the glowing radio and hold "X" to destroy it.
Climb up the ladder. Man the MG42. Shoot the oncoming waves of Germans. After you have killed about six waves, a tank will enter the area. Keep up your fire as the tank shoots at you. After the third or fourth shot you'll be heavily damaged. Just keep up the fire and watch as one of your guys destroys the enemy tanks, thus completing the objective.
Exit the barn and head to the icon on your compass to end the mission.
From the start of this mission you'll have five objectives (A - E) which you can do in any order. For the sake of organization, they will be done in the order in which they appear.
Along the way, I recommend you pick up an MP44 as your SMG and the Gewehr 44 as your Rifle. However, choose whatever you like best.
Follow the Sherman Tank until you see the fallen fence to your right which leads to a field. Enter the field. Clear the house. Continue North, sticking to the wall on your right as you work toward the next house, further down the alley. Clear this house and exit the other side. Note that you are now close to your (A) objective, the Town Hall.
The Town Hall is heavily guarded, with various MG42s in some windows. Concentrate on them first, attempting to take them from the side. Once inside, clear the first floor first, using your SMG to cut down the many group-together Germans. Then, make your way up the stairs and finish off any remaining resistance.
Work your way through the yards to the Post Office. Go around to the backside of the Post Office where you'll see many a German. Kill them and work your way through the first floor and then clear the top floor. Once it's clear, you'll have taken it.
Join your men on the East side of the Post Office. Work your way North, ignoring the enemies in the house to the left. Kill any Germans to the North. At the corner of the stone fence, peek around the corner. You'll see the Flak 88 gun and a bunch of Germans. Toss a few Grenades in the direction of the Flak gun and clear the area.
From the Flak gun, work your way West to the Church grounds. Before you get there, you'll encounter some fire from a house. Enter and clear the house. From the second floor of this house you can look down at the Church grounds. From the window, use your Rifle and Grenades to pick off the enemies at the Church. When it's relatively clear, go downstairs and then charge the Church to clear any remaining enemies on the inside.
Fight your way toward the HQ. I recommend making a run for it to the East side of the HQ. Here there is a wall in the neighbor's yard from which you can shoot the many Germans who exit the HQ. Once you have them cleared, head to the back side (South side) of the house and enter. Use your SMG to clear the many grouped Germans. Toss a few Grenades upstairs before you head up there. Clear the upstairs.
The mission will end.
Run zig-zag through the field to avoid the mortar fire. Meet up with Price in the barn.
The barn door will be kicked open. Fight your way to the Northern mortar team. Surrounding this team are some exploding barrels. Toss a Grenade or two in the general direction of those barrels which will kill many of the Germans around the mortar.
To get to the next mortar team you'll have to deal with some of the heaviest resistance you've faced yet. Take your time, crouch, use cover and watch your compass for red dots (don't let anybody surprise you). Keep an eye out for exploding barrels and use the various houses (after you've cleared them) for cover. After a long battle, you'll eventually make it to the mortar team. Clear any remaining Germans.
Meet up with your men by going through the house toward the icon on your compass. Fight your way to the HQ. From outside of it, toss any and all Grenades you have through various windows where you see enemy fire. Pick off any enemies you see, then storm the house.
Meet up with Price in the Kitchen.
The enemies will be coming from the South. Go out onto the porch and man the MG42. You'll have a countdown timer to show you how long until you get reinforcements. The Germans will use Smoke Grenades to mask their movement. Lay down a steady stream of fire back and forth, back and forth. Some will sneak by you on the left. When this happens, un-man the MG42 and use your SMG to kill any enemies coming onto the porch.
![]() |
Alternatively, you can take up position on the West side of the house, near the crates and blown out side-house/barn. From here, focus on the stairs leading up the porch. As the Germans attack they'll seek you out and will essentially line up for you to kill them.
When there is about 30 seconds remaining, you'll be told to destroy the Tiger tank.
Head through the house and out to the East side yard. Go as far East as possible. Look South to find a half-destroyed wooden gate. Hop the fence and work your way from fox hole to fox hole, picking off any enemies as you head toward the tank.
When you are close, but not too close, to the tank get a good look at exactly where it is. Then, use two or three Smoke Grenades in between you and the tank. Run directly at the tank and feel your way around it until you get the "Plant Explosives" prompt. Do so and run away, taking cover behind anything you can.
Once the tank is destroyed, meet up with Capt. Price in the back yard of the HQ.
That's it for the British Campaign.
