AMERICAN CAMPAIGN

D-Day - The Battle of Pointe du Hoc

Regroup with Sgt. Randall

Once you snap out of your shell shock, head toward the icon on your compass. Stick close to the cliff wall as you head there.

Grab onto the rope using "X" and climb up the cliff by pushing forward.

Destroy the 155mm coastal artillery guns.

At the top of the cliff, run straight forward and enter the trench. Follow the trench to the end. From here you'll see a bunker/pillbox to the SW. Use your Sniper Rifle to pick off the MG42 gunner and the next two who take up the position. Then, run to the bunker and take cover there momentarily.

Exit and head down the stairs to kill about four Germans. Wait until you see your fellow soldier catch up with and follow them to the West where you'll take cover behind a destroyed German truck. Kill any enemies you see and continue West to the tractor.

Head South through the archway and into town. Fight your way through the small town. Once it's clear, you need to get on the other side of the wall and into the field. Go to the house in the SW corner and go through the ground floor to exit out the back.

Hang a left and go through the archway leading to the field. Fight through the field and go through the opening in the hedgerow to the road. Here you'll see Sgt. Randall. He tells you to follow him. Do so. He leads you to the 155mm artillery guns.

Place a charge on each of the four artillery guns. If facing the same way as the gun's barrel, you'll see small glowing area on the left side of the barrel, near the two circular cranks or wheels. This is where you need to place your explosives. Do so for each of the four artillery guns.

Regroup with your squad at the roadblock.

Head to the icon on your compass.

Secure the bunkers on Pointe Du Hoc (3 remaining).

You are now backtracking. Head back through the field, back through the house, and back through the small town to the area with all of the bunkers. Follow the barbed wire trench to the right (you're not in the trench) as you shoot Germans who are in the trench. You'll soon get to a group of fellow soldiers who will blow open a gate for you.

Once through the gate, turn left and head for the blown up artillery gun outside near the bunker (the round concrete structure). To the left of the round concrete structure is the trench that you ran along earlier. Enter the trench and kill as you move along it. This will lead you directly to the first bunker. Clear the inside of the bunker and then go down the stairs to the tunnel.

Follow the tunnel to the stairs up to the next round concrete structure (don't worry about going down the stairs to the next tunnel). Head toward the next bunker marked on your compass, using the trench for cover. When you arrive, clear it out.

This bunker has a staircase going down to a tunnel as well. Follow the tunnel. Kill the men near the end of the tunnel. At this point you'll be near the third and final bunker. However, there is an enemy shooting you with an MG42 from small hole. Wait for the enemy to stop shoot and peer out so that you can get an idea of where you need to shoot. By this time, he'll be firing again. Wait for him to stop and now that you know where to shoot, do so.

Don't get too comfortable. As soon as you turn right and try to enter the next tunnel, another enemy will be firing at you. His hole is a little bigger so just pelt him with fire. Proceed into the bunker and kill the remaining enemies.

Regroup with Sgt. Randall at the rally point.

Head to the icon on your compass. The mission will end.

D-Day - Retreat? We're advancing in another direction.

Defend the South roadblock.

Man the 30 Cal. mounted machine gun (looks like the MG42s you've been using). Spray fire until you're told to defend the West roadblock.

Defend the West roadblock.

Head to the West and use your Rifle and Grenades to kill off the enemy until you're told to fall back.

Fall back and defend the orchard and Fall back to the machine gun on the second floor and provide covering fire.

Follow your men through the orchard (you may recognize this area from your last mission). Instead of hanging out in the orchard, go ahead and enter the house. Go up the stairs and man the 30 Cal. machine gun. Fire down on any enemies you see.

You'll then get the official objective to use the machine gun. Since you're already doing that, simply continue. As soon as you get the objective complete notification, un-man the gun and retreat.

Fall back and defend the Pointe.

You just took the Pointe and now the Germans are mounting a counter-attack. Fight your way to the icon on your compass (a trench). Kill the oncoming Germans until you see that your objective has been "updated". You'll see a new icon on your compass. Head there via the trench.

This new area is also a trench. Set up in the trench and shoot the oncoming Germans. Soon, you'll get a countdown timer. You need to survive for 5:00. Continue to pick off enemies in the distance keeping an eye on your compass for any enemies that may have already entered the trench.

At about the 3:00 mark, a German tank will enter the scene. Soon thereafter you'll get a new icon on your compass. Follow your men to the location. Continue to kill Germans.

Deploy green smoke to mark friendly location.

At about the :30 mark, you'll be told to use green smoke to let the pilots know where you are located. Go to the top of the nearby bunker that is marked on your compass. Here you'll see a glowing smoke grenade. Use "X" to deploy it. Watch as the planes fly in. The mission will end.

D-Day - The Silo

Support the squad's advance into the town.

You are armed with a Sniper Rifle and a Pistol. Follow your men to the area where you need to provide cover fire. There is a 30 Cal. machine gun here. Man it and shoot anything that moves. Pay particular attention to the enemy MG42s: one near the Flak 88 gun on the left, one just to the right of that one and one in the second story window. As your men advance, be careful not to hit them. After a few minutes of shooting, you'll get a whole slew of new objectives which you can do in any order. Below is the way that I recommend you doing them, however, do what you like.

(A) - Capture the stone farmhouse at the South end of town.

Un-man the machine gun. Move West (forward) through the field and trade in your Pistol for an SMG when you have the chance. When you get to the road near the house, shoot the exploding barrels to kill some Germans. Move on the stone farmhouse and clear it out to complete this objective.

(F) - Clear the German field HQ in the manor.

Head North out onto the street. To your left is the red banner-adorned HQ. Shoot some barrels and then storm inside. Shoot everybody to clear it out. From the second floor of the HQ you can man the MG42 and shoot any enemies you see, paying special attention to enemies in the windows of the building across from you (objective E).

(E) - Take control of the sign-covered house at the main intersection.

When you've killed a few enemies inside the building across from the HQ, exit the HQ and enter the sign-covered building. Clear it out.

(D) - Seize the house overlooking the fork in the road.

Exit (E) and head to the house next-door (D). Enter and clear it out. From the second floor. Man the machine gun and fire on the enemies crossing the fork in the road. Look to the right to see a bunch of exploding barrels on the porch of the post office (C). Continue to shoot anybody you see around the post office.

(C) - Secure the post office at the North end of town.

Exit (D) and head across the road to (C), the Post Office. Clear the lower floor of the Post Office. The upstairs is nasty. First shoot the enemy on the stairwell balcony. Then, run up the stairs and toss a grenade into the room on the left. Retreat back down the stairs. Wait for the enemies to either be blown up or come out. Shoot them. Then, go back upstairs and clear the right room.

(B) - Clear the barn of enemy infantry.

All that you have left now is the Barn. Head there and clear it out.

Regroup with the squad at the intersection.

Head to the icon on your compass.

Go to the top of the silo.

Time to use that Sniper Rifle you were given at the beginning of this mission. If you traded it in, there is another Sniper Rifle at the top of the silo. Climb the silo.

Sniper the enemy mortar teams until reinforcements arrive.

You have a countdown timer. Enemy mortar teams will be setting up in various locations around you. They'll be marked on your compass. You can tell who they are because there will be two enemies kneeling (sometimes just one), setting up a mortar. If they get it set up, you'll be able to see a trail of smoke leading from it, which also makes them easy to identify. Don't worry about the normal enemies. Just focus on the mortar teams. Remember to click down on the left thumbstick to steady your aim. When the timer reaches zero, you'll get a new objective.

Help the reinforcements clear the area of any remaining enemies.

Stay on the silo and pick off any enemies you see.

Debrief with Sgt. Randall.

Carefully head down the ladder and go to the icon on your compass to finish the mission.

Hill 400 - Bergstein

Eliminate enemy resistance in the houses and then meet up with Sgt. Randall.

Simply work your way from house to house, clearing them as you go. Each house is marked on your compass. After the final house you'll be told to meet up with Sgt. Randall on the road. Go to the icon on your compass.

Take over the German hard point to the East.

You'll be hit with some mortar fire. After you snap out of it, head East toward the icon on your compass. Clear the two houses and you'll have completed this objective.

Clear the house of enemy resistance.

Follow your men as they kick in the door of a house so that you can proceed. Fight your way forward until you get to an iron gate. There is a nearby house. Your men will kick open the door. It is this house that you have to clear in order to complete the objective.

Eliminate the enemy mortar crew.

Your men will kick open the other side of this house, giving you access to the Church yard where the mortar team is located. Clear the Church yard and the mortar crew.

Destroy the Panzerwerfer.

There is a nearby Panzerwerfer. It is unoccupied. Place an explosive on the front right of it, where you see the glowing section.

Take over the Church.

Your last objective is to clear out the Church. Enter the Church. Take out the two men on the balcony and then the remaining men on the first floor.

Meet back up with Sgt. Randall to end the mission.

Hill 400 - Rangers Lead the Way

Breach and clear the bunkers on Hill 400 (4 remaining).

Charge the first bunker. About halfway there, toss a Smoke Grenade between you and the bunker. Advance on the bunker through the smoke. Kill the men inside. Go to the backside of it and use an explosive on the door. When it blows open, toss a Grenade in. Then, clear the rest of the bunker. Exit the bunker and follow the trench to the nearby door which also requires an explosive. Blow it open. Kill anybody that may be in there. Grab the Scoped Gewehr 43 (Sniper Rifle) from the crate if you want it.

Head up the hill and kill any resistance you encounter. Follow the fence line to the East, clearing as you go. You'll soon see the next bunker up the hill from you. Toss a Smoke Grenade in that direction. Run to the back of the bunker, blow open the door and clear it out.

Fight your way to the next bunker, blow open the door, clear the bunker.

One more to go. As you approach this fourth bunker you'll get two new objectives. Ignore them for now. The fourth bunker is at the top of the hill. It has the large radar dish at the top of it. Fight your way to it. Go around the back of it and then find the door at the front of it. Blow it open. Kill the three or four Germans inside.

Note that there is another door you need to destroy to get to the inner bunker. Plant explosives on this door and clear it. This completes the bunker segment of this mission.

Before you exit the bunker, man the MG42 that is guarding the front door. The Germans will attempt a counterattack. You can help stop it and stay safe from this position.

Eliminate the Panzerwerfer armored vehicle.

When things have quieted down outside of the bunker, exit and head SW to find the unoccupied Panzerwerfer. Plant explosives on the hood where you see the glowing section and stand back.

Eliminate the mortar crews (2 remaining).

Next, simply locate and shoot the two mortar teams. They are not very far away from each other and by this time, a lot of the enemy resistance has been quelled.

Secure the top of Hill 400.

Kill any remaining enemies that you can find. If you're having trouble finding them, try going to the top of the bunker to get a good vantage point.

Hill 400 - The Battle for Hill 400

Hold Hill 400 until relieved by friendly forces.

This is your overall objective, with some sub-objectives.

Snipe the enemy mortar teams on the perimeter.

Exit the bunker. Note the anti-tank weapons (Panzerschrecks) on the crates. Leave them for now. Head to the right, along the fence line (barbed wire). Kill any resistance you see. In the meantime, as the game suggests, look down the hill for streaks of smoke coming from the ground to help you locate the mortar teams. They are also marked on your compass to give the general idea of where to look.

Continue to follow the barbed wire while watching for smoke streaks. Sometimes it's difficult to get a good line of fire. Just work your way back and forth along the barbed wire until you get a line of sight. Note that the little huts stationed along the barbed wire often give you the proper line of sight.

Hold Hill 400 until relieved by friendly forces.

That last objective pretty much took you in a loop of the main bunker. You are back out in front of the bunker. In this down time, collect weapons and ammo from the various crates outside of the bunker. I suggest you grab your favorite SMG (mine is the MP44) and the Panzerschreck (anti-tank weapon). You may as well get it now as you'll need it later.

Soon thereafter you'll see a bunch of icons appear on your compass: The artillery barrage.

Take shelter from the artillery barrage.

Run inside the bunker. Wait for the barrage to end.

Stop the Germans from breaching and storming the bunker aid station.

Listen as your men call out the direction of the attacks. However, don't trust them completely. Stay near the bunker and keep an eye on the compass for red dots. This battle will get hectic. Keep an eye out for two Panzerwerfers (armored trucks). Switch to your anti-tank weapon and quickly destroy them as soon as you see them.

After they are destroyed, the battle will get even tougher. Stay crouched and try to stay behind cover. Keep your head on the swivel as enemies will be coming from every direction.

After a few minutes, just when you think the battle should be over, you're told that you have 5:00 left until help arrives. Soon after than another artillery barrage will rain down on you.

Take shelter from the artillery barrage.

Run inside the bunker. Wait for the barrage to end.

Stop the Germans from breaching and storming the bunker aid station.

For this last segment of the battle you'll have to deal with the normal onslaught of enemies and two Tiger tanks. They come about a minute apart. If you don't have at least three rounds in your Panzerschrek, go back to the crate where you got it to get more ammo. You can either shoot them with your anti-tank weapon (preferred), or make a run for it to the side or back of the tank to plant an explosive charge (risky). Either way, the tanks are your top priority. If you don't destroy them quickly they'll quickly destroy you.

After the two tanks are destroyed it's a matter of surviving until time runs out. Clear out any remaining enemies to end the mission.

Crossing the Rhine - The Crossing Point

General tips for this mission.

This is a difficult mission. It will take a good chunk of time to finish it.

There are a lot of enemies in this level, so it doesn't serve you well to charge them with an SMG. Most of the time, you'll end up dead from the three or four guys you didn't see. Instead, crouch, progress carefully, take cover at all times, and pick off enemies using your Rifle. I recommend the Gewehr 43, but use whatever Rifle you want.

The path takes you to each of the 5 artillery guns (Flak 88s). If for some reason the game doesn't register that you're at, and have cleared, a particular Flak 88 gun try running around the area until it registers. Also, be sure that all enemies in the area are dead...there may be one lingering somewhere.

Eliminate the artillery crews (5 remaining).

The beginning of this mission can be a bit confusing as there is a mine field. First, use the 30 Cal. machine gun on the boat in an attempt to take out the two MG42 positions to the left (also where the first Flak 88 gun is located). Don't stay in the boat too long as it will soon blow up. Exit the boat and move away from it. After it blows, head to the left of it and go onto the beach where you'll see two downed trees.

Take cover behind the first tree and shoot the MG42 in the house window. Then, head to the left where you'll see all of the tree stumps. Use them for cover as you move forward. Head to the left side of this area and locate the road going along the left side of the Flak 88 gun. Use the wall for cover and kill the enemies in the area (1 of 5).

Go through the house. On the other side you'll see a fork in the road. You'll be going down the left in a minute. The second Flak 88 gun is to the right. You need to go there first. To get there, go into the house directly across the street from you so that you can flank this crew (2 of 5).

Next, take the left path. Fight your way down the road. At the end of it you'll see the third Flak 88 gun. You can't get to it from this side, though. The street goes off to the left. Continue to fight forward along the road. Near the top of the road, hang a right to get to the third Flak 88 gun. Clear the area (3 of 5).

Locate the hole in the wall of the house to the SE of the Flak 88 gun. Enter the house and go through to the next street. You'll see two Germans running from right to left. Fight your way forward along this road. Jump the fence into the Church yard. On the other side of the Church yard you'll see the fourth Flak 88 gun. Kill everybody in the area (4 of 5).

Go ahead and man this Flak 88 gun and use it to clear the enemies down the road from you. Go down the road. You'll get to a road block. Go through the gate on the left and out onto the next road. There is an open house on the left. Enter it and fight through it and through the wall to the adjacent house. Exit this house. Cross the street to another house. Go through it and you'll find yourself in the town circle. Crouch and work your way around the circular inner wall (along the outside of it). Take out the last Flak 88 crew and head toward it.

Hunt down and destroy the Tiger tanks (2 remaining).

As soon as the last Flak 88 crew is dead a Tiger tank will come crashing through the wall. It should be near you. Run up to it and plant an explosive on it. Remember, if you plant the explosive on the tank's tracks, you'll have to wait for your men to come in and finish the job. If you plant the explosives on the back of the tank, it'll be destroyed when the bomb blows up.

Next, head to the SE to find another Tiger tank that just came onto the scene. Plant an explosive on it.

Secure the town of Wallendar.

Kill any remaining enemies.

Congrats on finishing the game! Now try a harder difficulty level!
