"Call of Juarez" Game Guide and Walkthrough

Episode IX

Calm Water (the indian) has saved your life. And you've been going around killing Apaches. Geez. Way to respect to the native americans!

For repayment, Calm Water asks that you get him three rabbits. You'll automatically receive a bow and arrows. The rabbits are marked as red dots on your compass. Hop onto your horse and ride in the direction of the rabbits.

Hunting rabbits can be a real pain but there are few tips to make things easier.
  • Turn up the volume on your TV. Once in the area of a rabbit listen for a rustling sound. This means a rabbit is near.
  • Rabbits like the flowering bushes. You'll see them running from one to another.
  • You've used the bow many times before, so you shouldn't need reminding to pull and hold LT to go into a slo-mo mode.
  • If you have a rabbit in your sights, be sure to lead it a little. These suckers are fast and if you aim directly at it, you'll miss.
  • If you do miss, try to keep an eye on where you arrow landed. You should recover arrows so that you don't run out of ammo.
  • You must actually pick up the dead rabbit by standing over it, looking at it, and hitting X when prompted.
  • If one hunting ground isn't treating you right, move on to another.
  • If you lose your horse, look for the green dot on the compass. This is your horse.


After you have three rabbits, head back to Calm Water, who is not so calm anymore due to the fact that his camp is on fire. Grab the bucket near the tent and bring it down to the nearby water. As soon as you set into the water, the bucket will fill. Go up to the fire and hit RT to throw water on it. When you run out of water, grab more and repeat.

Calm Water asks that you complete yet another test for him. You have to climb Eagle Mountain and grab a feather. Great. Hop on your horse and head in the direction of the red dot and after a long trip, you'll eventually see Eagle Mountain sticking out of the water. Enter the water and head to it.

You'll need to find the place where you can start your climb. Continue along the side of the mountain until you see a patch of land in the water and a tree sticking out the side of the mountain. You'll also see a handy ledge just about your height.

Go up to that ledge and climb up. From here it's just a matter of ledge climbing and whip action (note, you will have to run and jump to some ledges to clear a gap). You've done all of this type of thing before, with the exception of getting bitten by a rattlesnake. Yes, when you get to the first rattlesnake, turn around and look up. There is a branch you can use to get to a higher platform.

The next challenging part comes after you get the save point. You'll have to run quickly and jump along the path because it'll be crumbling and falling behind you. When you get to the safe ledge in front of the branch, watch for the eagle that swoops down to attack you. Stand on the left of the platform and just before he gets to you, move to the right to dodge him (you can also sustain a hit by the eagle, but you may get knocked off).

The next area where you may become stuck is right after you use the branch above you to climb up. From the branch, you can swing to the left or basically get on the ledge directly below the branch you're hanging from. If you swing to the left ledge, you'll be on a false path. Instead, climb up the whip and get off on the ledge below the branch you're hanging from. Take a few steps forward and you'll soon see a ledge below with a tree on it. Drop down to it.

Work your way up a few ledges (you'll know you're on the correct path because and eagle will swoop down as you climb a ledge) and you'll see that you can continue forward (jumping gaps) or turn around and continue up (jumping and grabbing onto ledges). Turn around and continue your climb up. You'll have to use one more branch and then will enter and go through a tunnel/cave where you'll get a save point.

Keep on climbing up and you'll eventaully reach the nest. Grab a feather from the nest by looking at a feather and hitting X when prompted. You'll then be told to return to Calm Water.

Head past the nest to the end of the path. Look down to see a ledge below with a bottle of whiskey on it (how'd that get there?). It's too far down to drop down to, so head just a tad to the right and look down. You'll see a nice ledge that isn't too far down. Drop down to it and then continue making your way down...essentially crossing gaps when necessary but otherwise looking for ledges to drop down onto (you will have to use your whip on a tree branch and then simply drop down to a ledge below). You'll soon get to a nice long path going down.

Once back in the water, make the long trip back to Calm Water. The level will end when you get back.
