Multiplayer Modes
Multiplayer can be a bit confusing. Below I'll explain each of the Xbox Live Multiplayer modes:Deathmatch - An all out battle. Everybody is your enemy. The person with the most kills at the end of the session wins.
Skirmish - This is a team battle. You can choose to be either blue or red. Blue is the lawmen and red is the outlaws (although that really doesn't matter). The goal is to take out the other team. Your team will appear on your compass so that you know where they are. The other team will not appear on your compass. The team who takes out the other team wins.
Robbery - This is another team battle which can be won in two ways. First, the easy way, kill the other team. Second, if you're the Outlaws you can steal the gold (marked by yellow dot on the compass) and bring it back to the drop zone (marked by a red triangle on the compass). Steal all of the gold within the time limit and you win. If you're the lawmen, then you need to protect the gold until time runs out.
Gold Rush - This is like a sole version of robbery. You are on your own. You earn points by killing enemies or by collecting gold (marked on your compass). The player who gathers the most points before time runs out wins.
Wanted - Wanted is like playing tag, but with guns and killing. One player starts the game as the Wanted (you know you're the wanted if you see a flashing wanted poster in the bottom right of your screen). Every other player is trying to kill that person. If you kill the Wanted, you become the Wanted. As the Wanted, you can kill anybody else in an effort not to be killed. And so goes the circle of life.
Capture the Bag - Or, capture the flag, as you may know it. You need to seek out the enemy's bag (marked on the compass) and bring it back to your base. You can only score points if your team's bag is safely at your base when you bring in the enemy's bag.
Famous Events - Really just a mish-mash of modes, based on famous events.
Multiplayer Tips
- Hold LB to sprint. Anytime you are moving, you should be sprinting.
- Each class of character has their own attributes, like speed. Gunslinger is the fastest runner. Use whomever you like. If you want to switch up during play, hit Start and choose a new class of character. The next time you die, you'll restart as that which you selected.
- Personally, I had the best success with Sniper for team missions and Miner for deathmatches.
- At anytime you can press and hold Back to see the current status of both your team and the enemy's team, ie, how many are left alive.
- The fraction on the top of your screen represents how many enemies you've killed and the number in parenthesis, (-2), for example, is how many times you've been killed. I'm not sure what the final number in that lineup is.
- Obviously, get to know the maps well and find your favorite hiding spots and ambush points.
- If you have questions, ask. Communicate with your team to avoid confusion.
