The Menu

Options - The options menu allows you to tweak various audio/video settings as well as Controller Settings. It is here that you can invert your Y-axis (vertical aiming) if it's bothering you. You can also see the controls for the game.

Main Menu - It is here that you select the kind of game you want to play. This walkthrough covers the Campaign mode. Coop mode simply allows other players to help you on the campaign.

In addition to Campaign, you can do Time Trials, which allow you to replay a boss that you've already taken out in the Campaign mode. You are timed and can try to beat your best score.

Downloads is self explanatory...and this is where you're going to want to go for the Halo 3 beta.

Extract allows you to commit suicide and regenerate at the Supply Point of your choosing. It also saves the game for you.

Quit will take you back to the start up menu.

Agency Info

This section includes the Map and the Gang Dossier, which includes detailed info on every boss in the game. You can also see your Achievements and Xbox Live Leaderboards.

Saving your Game

This game has an auto-save feature which works quite well. If you do want to save manually, go into your Pause screen and select "Extract" or "Quit".

Jumping, Crouching and Climbing

Jumping - Because you're a super modified, genetically altered clone, you have the ability to jump long distances. The more you increase your Agility Skill, the higher and farther you can jump. To do a small jump, tap "A". To do a long jump, press and hold "A".

Crouching

The game also allows you to crouch. This serves two purposes: to take cover and to steady your aim. This is particularly useful when using the Sniper Rifle. To toggle between crouching and standing, click down on the "Left Analog Stick".

Climbing

You have strong hands and biceps. Strong enough even to hold onto the slightest ledge or window of a building. Keep this in mind when trying to get to the top of a building. Once you are hanging from a ledge, you can press "A" (or the "Right Analog Stick) to propel yourself up to the next ledge and so on.

Precision Targeting

This game adds a fun little twist onto shooting people and vehicles. When you're locked onto a human target (press and hold "LT") you'll see a little human icon appear next to your reticule (the cross hairs). Still locked on, move your "Right Analog Stick" up/down/left/right to highlight the head, torso, arms, or legs of the human target. If you shoot the hand with the gun in it, the target will drop his gun. If you shoot the legs, the target will fall. If you go for head shots, the target will die more quickly.

The same thing goes for vehicles. When locked onto a vehicle, you'll get the option to precision target the tires or gas tank. Shooting out the tires does what you think it would...make the car go out of control without it exploding. Shooting the gas tank will make the car explode.

When it comes to simply locking on itself, note that the longer you are locked onto a particular target, the more accurate you get.

Hit Squads

As mentioned in the "HUD" section above, Hit Squads are deployed when you tick off a particular gang or the Agency. When this happens, the gang will send out a hit squad to take you down. You'll be aware of this by watching the upper right of your screen for a red flashing icon. The icon of the gang that is after you will be inside the circle. The Agency will get angry at you if you kill too many agents or civilians. In this case, they'll send out enforcers to track you down. You can simultaneously have several gangs and the agency after you.

To make things return to normal, get the heck out of there until things calm down, or, you can take out the entire hit squad. FYI, hit squads and enforcers are shown on your radar.

Agility Orbs, Hidden Orbs, Stunt Markers, Rooftop Races, and Road Races

During the game you'll be seeing many different beams of light. Here's the breakdown:

Weapon Tips

Many weapons have a zoom capability. To use it, press up or down on the D-Pad. When looking through the scope, use "RB" and "LB" to zoom in/out.

Picking up enemy weapons helps to build your arsenal. When you see an enemy weapon on the ground you can pick it up by holding "X". If the circle around the weapon is dark blue, it means that you can pick it up. If the circle around a weapon is a light blue, it means that you already have that weapon equipped.

Supply Points

Agency Supply Points are scattered throughout the city and are identified by an orange beam of light. Even if they are "undiscovered" you can still see their location on the map. The Supply Points serve two main purposes: storing weapons and allowing for transport between them. You can visit any unlocked (meaning you found it) Supply Point at any time to refill your ammo.

You can also choose from any available weapons. To store weapons that you've picked up during the course of gameplay, simply have them on you and then enter a Supply Point. That weapon(s) is now available at any of the other Supply Points.

Supply Points also allow you to travel between them, as a sort of warp point, so that you can easily travel around the city (isn't the near-future great!?!). To do so, simply enter a Supply Point and choose another Supply Point to travel to.

Skills

Throughout the game you'll want to increase each of your five skills. Each time you level up a skill you'll see a little star appear next to that skill on the screen. You can get a maximum of four stars per skill. You can do this in a variety of ways. Here's the breakdown of each skill and how to increase it:

Warning: include_once() [function.include-once]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /home/lunabeanftp/public_html/guides/crackdown_walkthrough_strategy_guide_faq_basics.php on line 239

Agility Skill - This pertains to running and jumping. The best way to increase this skill is to find Agility Orbs, the green orbs on top of buildings. The higher up the Agility Orb, the more skill it will impart on you. Another way to increase your Agility is to complete Rooftop Races, the green beam of light. Finally, you can earn Agility points by killing enemies from very high places.

As your skill increases, you'll be able to jump farther and higher, and run faster. It will only take about 10 Agility Orbs to get your first star. This, of course, depends on how valuable each orb was. It may take you as little as five orbs, or as many as 12 orbs. Throughout the game there are 500 Agility Orbs. You should only need about 250 to get to the fourth star. I got my upgrades at 7, 39, 139, and 248.

Driving Skill - Increasing your driving skill allows you to handle your car more precisely, make tighter turns, etc. It will also unlock special weapons and skill upgrades for the Agency Cars in the garage (when maxed out the SUV can jump, the Supercar will be equipped with two machine guns, and the Truck Cab can do a dash attack).

The best way to increase the driving skill is to run over enemies. After that, the next best way is to compete in Road Races (the purple beam of light), and then to jump through Stunt Markers (purple rings). Be careful not to run over civilians as it will decrease your skill if you do.

Explosives Skill - This is pretty straightforward: use your grenades, explosives, grenade launchers, and rocket launchers on enemies to increase the skill. As you do so, the blast radius and damage of your explosive weapons will increase.

Strength Skill - The most important aspect of the Strength Skill is that for each upgrade you get, you get an additional health meter: The more strength you have, the more potent your health. Secondarily, strength impacts how much damage your kick will inflict. The best way to increase your strength is to kick attack enemies until they're dead.

Another way to increase your strength is to throw objects at enemies to kill them. This is actually a rather futile endeavor as most enemies will simply dodge the object.

Weapons Skill - Again, fairly straightforward: shoot lots of enemies to increase your skill. As your skill increases, you'll become more accurate and will be able to lock onto targets more quickly.
