Louvre Museum

Search Sauniere's body

Sauniere's body is on the ground in front of you. Hit "Action" (you'll get an on-screen prompt telling you what button to press) to "examine" the body. This will take you into a first person view. Follow the on-screen instructions to move the camera across Sauniere's body.

Focus on the Pentacle written in blood on Sauniere's belly. It will light up when you've panned in position. Hit "Examine" again. Next, examine Sauniere's folded clothes (marked "9"), his feet ("3"), then his left hand ("7").

Use the business card and phone

Sophie will enter and provide you with a business card. Follow the on-screen instructions to open up your inventory (hit the "Inventory" button, "R2" on the PS2). Scroll through your inventory and select the Business Card. Opt to "Examine" it. You may need to Examine it one more time to view the phone number on its backside: 555.121.0195, Access Code: 454. Next, return to your inventory and select the Cell Phone. "Use" it, then enter the Access Code.

The bathroom

After a cutscene you'll find yourself in the bathroom. Approach the bar of soap next to the middle sink and pick it up with "Action". Next, move to the window and follow the on-screen prompts to pick it up (on the PS2 you must tap "X" then push the left and right control sticks up). Open up your inventory and select the bar of soap. Opt to "Combine" it, then select the Tracker. Next, "Use" the Soap and Tracker.

Anagram: OH LAME SAINT

Here you have your first anagram, "OH LAME SAINT". Select a letter from the top and move it into position in the bottom so the bottom reads "THE MONA LISA". Checkpoint.

Find and use UV Light

As Sophie you must find a UV Light. Run to the far end of the Grand Gallery and hit the gate control button on the left side of the gate. This will raise the gate. Hit the "Stealth" button and move along the left side of the room, behind the two guards. Continue through the next room and you'll spot another guard with his back to you. Stealthily walk straight for him. Along the way you'll pass over a fallen post. Grab it with "X", then continue your stealth walk to the officer. As you approach him you'll be given instructions on how to knock him out. Follow them (on the PS2 simply tap "Square" with the post in your hands). If you are successful you will knock him out with one hit. If not, you'll have to fight him. Follow the on screen instructions if this is the case.

If the officer's body is in the way of the DCPJ Evidence Cart, stand at his head and hit the "Drag" button. Examine the cart and move the chemical bottle on the top shelf to reveal the UV Light. Collect it. Checkpoint.

Hit "Examine" to automatically shine the UV light on the glass in front of the Mona Lisa. As you pan over the symbols each one will light up. Pan over each and every symbol, so the entire symbolic message is highlighted. Once you've successfully completed this, you will have an encrypted substitution cypher to solve. This means each symbol stands for a letter in the alphabet. Highlight the symbol you want to select with "Action" (which will also highlight each appearance of the symbol in the puzzle, but focus on the symbol highlighted in white). Next, select the letter you believe the the symbol represents. If you mess up, highlight the symbol again and hit "Exit" ("Triangle on the PS2).

A successful puzzle deciphering will read "DA VINCI PAINTED THOSE THAT KNEW BETWEEN BACCHUS AND URIEL LIES THE CLUE".

Search paintings for a clue

Once you solve the puzzle you'll find yourself in a bit of a scuffle with a guard. Hit the "Attack" button to hit him, then follow the on-screen instructions go into attack mode. Hit the buttons in the order they appear at the bottom of the screen. Next, you'll most likely have to defend yourself. This time, hit the buttons as they appear on the button of your screen. When the guard is knocked out, "Drag" him into the shadows behind the Mona Lisa (remember, pick him up from his top side).

With the Mona Lisa at your back, run forward, then pass through the door on the left side of the large painting to return to the Grand Gallery. Take a few steps right, then examine the painting of John the Baptist. Pan straight up. Atop the painting above John the Baptist you'll spot a small object. Pan toward it so you highlight it, then "Examine" the object. Follow the on-screen prompt to boost Sophie up to the object, the Priory Ring.

Listen to the phone message

Facing the painting of John the Baptist, move right. As you're moving back toward Sauniere's body, keep an eye along the right side of the gallery. Along the way you'll spot an open doorway. Pass through it and you'll spot two guards inside Sauniere's Office. After the cutscene, return to the Gallery and move left. Hide behind the first set of pillars. If you want, you can simply let the guards move out, then sneak back into the office, as their backs will be toward you. However, I like taking out guards when I encounter them so I won't have to worry about them later. To take these two out I moved around behind the pillars until I got the "Wall Ambush" prompt. Once in wall ambush position, I "Tapped" to draw a guard close to me, then I attacked. I took out the next guard by sneaking up behind him as he was checking out a painting. Again, do as you wish, but get yourself into Sauniere's office.

In Sauniere's Office, locate the answering machine on the back corner of the desk and "Examine" it. Once you listen to the phone message, move to the front side of Sauniere's desk and "Examine" it. Pan to the top right drawer so the handle is highlighted. Examine it and collect the Small Bandage (use it, if necessary, by selecting it from your inventory). Atop Sauniere's desk, examine the Laptop, the crumpled piece of paper and the small knight statue. Once the statue is examined, move over to the map above the file cabinet on the left side of the door and examine it. It smells of alcohol. Pull out the UV Light then pan it across the map. Look for a circled small room on the bottom of the map. Examine it, then move beneath the Air Vent to the left. Follow the on-screen directions to push Sophie through it.

Search the Restoration Room

Inside the Restoration Room you'll find an Enzyme Table and a dirt covered painting. You must combine the Enzymes to create a chemical to remove the dirt from the painting. However, to do this, you must figure out which chemicals to mix. Explore the room. Collect the Towel from atop the crate in the middle of the room (across from the Enzyme Table, next to the yellow box). Next, examine the books, the box and the piece of paper on the desk in the back corner of the room, and the Enzyme Note in the lower left desk drawer. The paper on the desk and the Enzyme Note tell you all you need to know, as the Enzyme note tells you that you need an enzyme to break down the fungus, a counter enzyme for the superoxide, then a final enzyme to break down the hydrogen peroxide. The piece of paper on the desk tells you these enzymes are Chitinase, Dismutase, and Catalase. Please note, the Enzyme Note will be stored in your Visual Database ("L2" on the PS2) for future reference. To check it select "Clues" > "Enzyme Note". Go to the Enzyme table and mix the chemicals in this order to create the Enzyme Beaker.

Stand in front of the Dirty Painting and combine the Enzyme Beaker with the Towel, then use the Enzyme Towel on the painting. Checkpoint.

Search the Nike Room

Exit the Restoration Room and return to the Mona Lisa Room. Immediately go into your sneaking position and move through the shadows on the left side as the guard moves along the right side. Don't let him see you as you move through the open doorway behind the Mona Lisa.

Next, move right and note the guards in the next room. Stand on the left side of the open doorway, pick up the pole and wait for the two guards to run past you. Sneak through the long hall and you'll find yourself in a large staircase area. This is the Nike Room. Move toward the Nike Statue across the way. Wait for the circling guard to put his back to you, then sneak up behind him and knock him out with the pole.

Stand in front of the statue and examine it. Next, move up the stairs to the left and note the encased Hand of Nike. Examine it and note something circular is missing from the front panel. Pan so you highlight the Copper Engraving, then go into your inventory and "Use" the Priory Ring. This will reveal the Fleur-de-Lys Disc. Checkpoint.

Exit the Louvre

Move back down to the statue, then to the main landing. Note the two guards at the bottom of the stairs working their way up. Move left and collect the pole. Stand on the left side of the staircase and wait for the guards to reach the top. One will move to the right, the other will move down the stairs. Sneak up behind the guard to the right and stealth attack him with the pole. Repeat with the guard at the bottom of the stairs. Pass through the open door.

Stay in sneaking mode and move along the left wall. Pick up the pole in the alcove, then wait behind the block between the statues for the guards to finish their conversation. When the guards break up, one will walk over toward you and position himself on the other side of the block. Sneak around the right side and knock him out. Sneak up behind the second guard and repeat. Exit via the doors at the far end of the room.
