LB Review: 8.0

After the cutscene where Jericho and Tala get it on and Jericho bites Tala you'll begin this mission. The Citadel is under attack. Grab the Redeemer and the Shotgun. Go through the green eyed door and fight the five Vipers. Explore the lower area to find the Splitter Grenades near the window and continue to take out Vipers. Go back up and go through the partially opened door near the fire. Fight a few Vipers in the area where Jenkins (Weapons Master) used to be and head to the ghost door. When you get there you'll see a cutscene of Tala killing all of the Regulators, she has played you.
When you start back up, man the operational Turret Gun and shoot the oncoming Vipers. When they're gone, backtrack and a Regulator will tell you, "this way out!" Follow the path, kill the two Vipers, and then find the next Regulator through the open green eyed door on the right. In this next area, work your way through the hallways killing the Gunslingers and Riflemen. At the end of the first hallway, on the right is a Tainted Victim. Also, in the ammo/weapons stock room (a side room) there is a Tainted Victim. Be sure to restock on all of your ammo. When all of the enemies are dead. Go through the green eyed doors.
In this next area, use the stairs for cover and take out the Riflemen, Gunslingers and some Keggers. Watch out for the Riflemen in the towers beyond the train car...you may have to move forward to see them up in their perches. Kill them and go to the left side balcony. Go through the green eyed door.
Upon entering this area, a stone fortress, you'll find in front of you Shotguns, Rail Rockets, Range Rifles, Redeemers, and Blood Canteens. Kill the Oozer with Dynamite and then use your Range Rifle and/or Rail Rocket to kill the many Riflemen. Watch out for Keggers. Kill the second Oozer. Locate the central structure and the door leading to the inside. Kill the two Riflemen guarding the door and then go through.
Kill the two Gunslingers. You are now back inside the hallways. Fight your way along the hallway and you'll hear a Regulator tell you that he's working on the door. Hunker down near the Blood Canteens and various ammo while another wave of enemies attacks. This wave includes two Oozers and many other enemies. You may want to unleash a Vindicator Power or two (or a Soul Stealer) on the enemies when the first Oozer shows up. When they're all dead, go through the door.
In this reactor room there are many enemies: Banshees, Riflemen, Ghost Reapers, etc. You're goal is to go to each of the two Reactor Rooms (one on each side) and use the switch on the power box in each room to shut down the reactor. Ignore the enemies as best as you can and note the many Blood Canteens and weapons at your disposal. When both switches have been pulled another door will open for you. Ignore the enemies and get to the door.
After the cutscene where Lazarus takes the Deadlight Prism, you'll have to kill four Banditos. Do so with your Shotgun and Dynamite/Splitter Grenades. You are now in the Treasury Room. When they're dead, you'll have to battle various waves of enemies including many Banshees, Banditos, and Reapers. Use whatever Power you want...I used Vindicator (or Soul Stealer) twice in this battle. Go through the door that opens once everybody dies.

Use whatever gun you like to pump lead into Lazarus while avoiding his fireball attack. You can easily run back from the attack or jump over it. When you see him glow you know that he'll be sending out his homing fireball attack (much like a Banshee attack). You can simply shoot this attack to stop it. When his health is down about 1/6 he'll send out waves of Reapers. Kill the Reapers (I used lots of Dynamite) and make sure that your Power Meter is full. When the Reapers are all dead, use your Silver Bullet Power and lay into him with whatever weapon you choose, I like the Redeemer. He'll get down to about 3/5 of his life and you'll get another cutscene and a checkpoint, phew.
Now you have many Ghost Reapers coming your way. Kill them and you'll have enough Blood Clouds from them to refill your Power Meter. During this time, Lazarus will be hanging back, not attacking. When you get to the last group of Ghost Reapers, Lazarus will come your way and he'll have a new attack: Tornadoes. You can avoid the tornadoes by running between them, or I prefer, by running away from them. When there is a pause in the tornadoes, use your Silver Bullet and lay into him again with your Redeemer. His health will go down to about 1/4 and you'll see the gates to the bridge open.
You are now trapped on the bridge. There are various Blood Canteens around and, most importantly, a re-generating Shotgun in the back left corner. Go to it and grab the Shotgun. Run back and forth on the bridge, avoiding Lazarus' attacks and killing the Ghost Reapers. If you get a chance to take a shot at Lazarus, do so, but otherwise, focus on getting your Power Meter full and avoiding damage. After seven or eight Ghost Reapers are dead you're Power Meter will be full again. Activate your Silver Bullet and use the Shotgun (or whatever you want) to finish him off.
After Lazarus is dead you have a choice to make: Break the curse of the West or become the new Lord of Vampires. This choice determines who your final boss will be. The Bosses (Tala or Cassidy) fight almost identically, so it's not really a matter of choosing to get an easier boss, it's just a matter of who you want to fight or if you want to be Good or Evil. I chose Good. Tala takes Lazarus' power. If you chose Evil, Cassidy will say that she will break the curse of the West even if it means killing you.
You are on horseback. You need to clear the train of Riflemen before you can board it. Go to either the right or left side of the train and start shooting enemies. This is the first time that I found the "Lean" function to be of use. Lean to use your horse for protection, get your reticle aimed at an enemy and then un-Lean and fire away. While you're using Shadow to protect you, your Blood Shield will regenerate. When the roof is clear, go to the back right side of the train where you'll see the steps/ladder and push your "Interact" button to board the train.
You are now on the train. Head upstairs, kill the Rifleman, grab his Range Rifle, and then turn the wheel. This will open the door to the next car. Go downstairs and fight your way into the next car. Fight your way to the front of the train. In the stable car you'll find a Shotgun in one of the stalls. When at the front of the train you'll have to go up to the roof and then you'll automatically drop down into the next car.
Inside this car, kill the many Ghost Reapers (a Vindicator works well here), go outside, kill the Riflemen and man the Turret Gun. Take out all of the enemies. They'll first come from the front, then the back, then two Ryders on the side, then a brief cutscene and then all from the front including many Keggers.
You start out in a train car. Grab the Carbine. Stay in the train car. Kill the four or five Ghost Reapers who charge you. Then, use your Blood Vision to locate the various Riflemen on the bridge and use your Carbine to pick them off. Before you jump over the bridge to the other side, go into the train car on the right to find a Tainted Victim. Then, cross the bridge (or run under it) and look to the left to find a Turret. Man it. The first few times I manned the Turret I was getting toasted almost immediately. Make sure there is no enemy behind you when you man the Turret. There is a Blood Canteen in the open train car behind the Turret if you need it. Also, I figured out that it helps to release a Vindicator Power (or Soul Stealer) on the enemies just before manning the Turret. This way, a good number of them are destroyed and you can get a better grasp on what you have to shoot. While on the Turret, kill anything that is near you first and then shoot the house at the end of the area where there are Riflemen firing on you. If you spray the house you'll eventually hit an exploding barrel or two, thus killing those inside.
When the wave of attackers is done, all will be quiet until you turn the corner. Do so and lure the various Ghost Reapers around the corner while you run back to the Turret Gun to mow them down. When the Reapers are dead, use your Blood Vision to locate the Riflemen around the corner and use your Carbine to kill them. When they are dead, the door below them will blast open and Keggers will stream out. When they are dead, go through the door and down the dark staircase.
When you start back up, grab the nearby ammo, drop down, directly behind you is a Tainted Victim. Enter the burning town and kill the various enemies including the Banshees. Use your Blood Vision to easily locate the Riflemen on the various balconies. When this first area is cleared you'll get a cutscene showing a large projectile hitting the area. Jump up onto the roof on the right and a Mark of Evil will appear. There is Dynamite and a Blood Canteen on this roof. Chuck Dynamite at the Mark until it is destroyed. If you want a Rail Rocket there is one on the far balcony/roof.
Head into the blown out building on the left. When you start back up you'll still be in the burning town and you'll have a new set of enemies to face. Take out the Ghost Reapers and if you have a Vindicator Power (or Soul Stealer) at the ready, use it on the Banshee and various Riflemen. Move forward for more of the same. If you have your Power Meter refilled, go at it. Otherwise, just take out the enemies in the best way you know how. Move to the end of the area and go into the building on the right. Go up stairs and hop through the hole in the wall to the second floor.
Here there is a Rail Rocket and a Blood Canteen. Grab the Rail Rocket. Drop down (there is a Tainted Victim below you) and enter the next town area. You'll see a Mark of Evil appear. Fire three Rockets at the Mark and then finish it off with melee attacks or your Redeemer. There are various Blood Canteens in the area and if you have Mystic Armor available (or the Evil equivalent), use it. Enter the door on the right.
When you start up, kill the three Reapers and then another Mark will appear. Throw Dynamite at it and finish it off with whatever you like. I suggest grabbing the Shotguns left behind by the Banditos. Jump to the second floor balcony in front of you and go through the door. Make your way through the halls killing the Ghost Reapers and Banditos. After the small set of stairs, turn the corner and you'll find a Tainted Victim in a room on the right. Head up the next stairs and follow the hall.
After the save point you start in an upper level room. Kill the two Banshees and the Ghost Reapers. Look out over the area and kill the enemy on the second floor of the building across the street and to the left. When he's dead, jump there. Drop down being careful to not go into the lava for too long. Use the various balconies to make your way forward. Kill the Banshees and variety of other enemies. I used a Vindicator (Soul Stealer) on the first Banshee. As you make your way through the town, be on the lookout for a Tainted Victim on the left, beneath a balcony with a Rifleman on top. Continue through the town, keeping an eye out for various ammo and Blood Canteens. When you make a turn to the right a bit later, look along the right wall under a balcony for another Tainted Victim. I used a three Vindicators throughout the area. It helps to have your Power Meter ready to go for the end when you'll see a Mark of Evil appear. It's easy to simply activate a Mystic Armor, run up to the Mark and blast it while you're invincible. If you don't have your Blood Gauge full, then chuck Dynamite at it or charge it and shoot it with your Shotgun.
Depending on the decision you made in the Boss Fight against Lazarus, you'll either be fighting Tala (if you chose Good) or Cassidy (if you chose Evil). Their attacks are almost identical except for one attack later, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it (for the purposes of the Screenshot version, I played through as Evil, therefore any pics of the final boss will be of Cassidy). First, locate the Shotgun. Then, run around shooting the five statues/pillars surrounding the room. You'll have to shoot each one twice; shoot the head, then the base. This will create 5 regenerating Blood Clouds for your use. Also, on the ledge surrounding the entire area, there are various weapons. In the middle of the arena is a Blood Canteen, which I believe regenerates. For this battle, I found the Shotgun, Dual Pistols, Carbine and Redeemer to be of most use to me.
Start shooting the Boss with your Shotgun. Her attacks will be very familiar to you as, at first, they are the same that Lazarus used. There is the spread fireball attack and the homing fireball attack. Avoid them the best you can. My best results came if I constantly charged her and shot at her with the Shotgun from almost directly underneath her. This way, you will run under her attacks and do maximum close-range damage. When see her crush the first victim go to where the victim was crushed to find several Blood Clouds for you to gather. As soon as you have your Power Meter full, use a Silver Bullet and go after the Boss. If you don't have the time or patience to fill up your Power Meter, for this second part of the battle, take cover behind any one of the pillars. Her attacks won't get to you as easily this way. Then, peek out and fire on her with your Carbine. Or, if you like, you can continue the run up under her and fire on her with the Shotgun routine.
After the second victim is crushed, run over and grab the Blood Clouds. By now, you should have your Power Meter full if you have yet to use it. Use a Silver Bullet and go house on her with whatever weapon you have. She'll fly away and swoop back down. In this third segment of the battle, she'll have a new attack: lightning. I was able to avoid most of the lightning attacks by backtracking away from them or double jumping to either side...they seem to come in a fairly linear pattern. This is a good time to try and hit her with some Scatter Grenades. You probably won't hit her, but it's worth a shot while you're running around avoiding attacks.

After the fourth victim is crushed simply keep up the routine that is described above. Her attacks will vary and will consist of everything you've seen before. You will die many times. Be patient, do your best to avoid her attacks and try to get your Power Meter full so that you can use Silver Bullet on her.
In summary, I found it best to be as near to her as possible. Utilize your Shotgun, Dual Pistols, and Redeemer as much as you can at close range. Keep up a constant barrage of fire; don't do too much lolly gagging around. When your life is in jeopardy, run around and gather Blood Clouds and try to gather ammo while you do. Just get back to shooting her as quickly as possible.
Congrats! You have finished the game.
