Sick of straight up shooters? Geist will cure your angst.

Nintendo has called Geist the "thinking man's first person shooter". That's not a bad way to think of this game. Yes, the game is action-packed, has great weapons, and will fulfill any urge you have to blow away legions of enemies, however, along the way you'll definitely get stuck. And this is not the type of stuck where you're getting killed because your shooting skills aren't up to par. This is the kind of stuck that you encounter in puzzle-heavy games. You'll be in a room, thinking you've looked everywhere, and you simply can't get out. What's that? You didn't look at the dog's dish. Oh! That's it. Time to possess the dish and scare the dog.

If you have done no reading on Geist then you won't mind me telling you that in the game you play as a ghost who can possess objects, animals, and humans. In fact, many of the puzzles in the game are solved by you possessing the right person in the right area and initiating the right sequence of events. In this way, I think of the game as a cross between Myst, Resident Evil 4, and any good first person shooter.

The pace of the game is excellent; never dull nor too action packed for too long. There are excellent bosses to battle and a nice series of bosses at the end. A good story line ties the game together.

This is a great game. If you own a GameCube you should play this game.
