Insecticide Walkthrough and Strategy Guide.
While most guides need an introduction of sorts,
Insecticide is so straight-forward, and the guide is so detailed, no introduction is necessary. So, plug in your cartridge, turn on your DS, and enjoy!
Great Expectorations
Chase the Arms Buyer (Spit Bug)
From the get go you may notice the greatest flaw with this game, and that's that it is pretty dark. So, dim the lights and do what you can to get a clear view of your screens.
The top screen displays the action, the bottom displays a map and your weapons. Note the green icon on your map. This is where your goal is located. So, with that being said, use the control pad to run straight forward. After a few steps you'll be told how to look around. You can either use your stylus, or hold "X" and use your control pad. The latter option works best in your current situation.
Continue forward until you spot a large crate to your left. Jump "B" to reach the top of it (double jump, if necessary), then jump to the ledge above. Run up the ramp and jump to the green dome (the one farther left). Cross it and you'll spot an enemy.
Auto-aim by holding "A", then shoot the perp with your Pollinator by hitting "L". Two direct hits should do the job.
Continue up the next ramp, then the next. Continue until you're told about the double jump. Your target is straight ahead (pink circular platform). Run and double jump to the platform (be sure to press up on the Control Pad while double-jumping to move forward).
Jump to the next platform, then face left and double jump up to the high ledge. If you need health, grab the Nectorola Can (refills 25 health points automatically), then move down the path to the left of it. Shoot the enemy at the end, then jump to the pink platform.
Continue up the many platforms, then jump to the rooftop to the left. Grab the Nectorola, then jump to the next rooftop where a couple of bugs will be shooting at you. Take them out then take note of the
Golden Scarab on the platform across the way. Grab it, then return to the rooftop and head left. Approach the narrow wall that you saw the perp cross earlier. You can't cross it. Instead, make a running jump for the Nectorola Can to the right of it (low). You'll end up on a platform beneath the wall.
Run to the Can, then look down. You can't make the pink platform low and right, so jump to the rooftop low and left. From here you can reach that pink platform. However, if you're collecting Scarabs, jump down to the rooftop to the right of the platform and grab
Scarab #2.
Cross the platforms and jump to the narrow ledge with the bug on it. Shoot him, then jump to the next platform. Eliminate the next bug, then head left, toward the two shooting bugs and the large crate. Pop the bugs, then grab
Scarab #3 from behind the crate. Back up a few steps and pass through the open doorway.
Head left, eliminating bugs as you go. Exit on the opposite side. Stay right and move forward to spot the next pink platform. Jump to it, then work your way up the entire set. Run up the path and prepare for battle.
Take out the remaining Spit Bugs
What you have in front of you is a Spit Bug arena. Use your map to precisely locate your enemies, then take them out. Note, they are using a more powerful weapon against you. The best way to avoid being shot is to lock on with "A", then move side to side while shooting with "L".
Each toasted Bug will release a Nectorola Can upon elimination. Collect them so you don't run out of health. Take them all out to complete the level.
The Soda Bomber
Welcome to Detective Mode. In this mode your goal is to gather info. Here, you must gather info within Troi HQ.
Begin by looking around. Note the magnifying glass that appears over certain objects. When one appears on the top screen, you'll see one on the bottom screen. To examine the item being highlighted, either tap the magnifying glass on the bottom screen with your stylus, or hit "A". Doing so will allow you to look at an object closer. Use your stylus on the object to either pick up or receive info on what it is you are looking at. Exit the zoom by hitting "X".
Begin by looking at your desk, immediately to your left. Tap the
Files to pick them up, along with the
Tape Recorder.
Move on to Roachy's desk, just to the right of yours. There's nothing on the desk, but, tap the drawer to reveal a
Bottle. Tap it to pick it up. Examine it closer by tapping the Bottle in the item menu. You'll find it's non-dairy creamer. Who knew bugs couldn't digest dairy?
Next, approach Roachy and note the speech bubble that appears. Hit "A" to talk to him. Ask him the line of questions.
Continue to work your way around the room, examining what is highlighted with the magnifying glass, picking up whatever you can, and speaking to everyone you run into. Below is a break down of your objectives.
Bring the case board up to date
Follow the directions below to acquire each of the items, then examine the case board. Drag and drop each item into its appropriate slot (click empty slots to see what goes where).
Find the bomb site photos
Speak to Grubbs (to the right of the case board), and help him finish his rhyme. Once the rhyme is complete, ask him again about the
Bomb Photos and he'll give them to you. Post them on the case board.
Find the witness list
Grab the
Donuts from the coffee station in the back corner. Speak to Roachy, then pick up the Donuts with your stylus and drag them onto Roachy's face. Speak to him again and he'll ask for something to drink. Return to the coffee station and collect the
Coffee. Speak to Roachy yet again and drag the coffee onto his face. This time he'll ask for Creamer. Examine Roachy's desk and locate the
Creamer in his drawer. Again, drag it over his face and ask him about the witness list. He'll give it to you. Post it on the case board.
Find the bombing diagrams
Speak to Hex, who is sitting on the diagrams. He needs something to drink. Collect the coffee pot from the coffee station, then drag it over his empty mug. Grab the diagrams from the chair, then post them on the case board.
Record the hominid's statement
Collect the
Tape Recorder from your desk (beneath the Files), then speak to hominid in the central cell. Drag the Recorder over to hominid to automatically record the conversation. Post the resulting statement on the board.
Buzz Kill
Speak to Roachy, who is to your right. Ask him all three questions to get your objective.
Collect 4 pieces of evidence
Speak to everyone on the scene and ask all questions possible. Begin with Quinbee, then hit the insect in the suit in her office. Next, speak to the Bee blocking the stairs (programmed). Finally, examine the crime scene.
At the crime scene, be sure to check out the "X". Also, grab the
Sandbag (1/4) and the
Script from Buzzbee's hand. Double click the Script as it's in your inventory, and a
Paper Clip will be revealed. Double click the Paper Clip to make it change form. You'll be using this momentarily.
Return to the suited insect and ask him to "Command that Beebot...". Next, have him ask the Beebot to move left, then have him take a bow. While in the bowed position, examine Beebot and grab the
Turnkey. Before heading up the stairs, return to the crime scene and use the Turnkey on the hatch on the fallen Beebot, thus revealing a
Hista-Mine (2/4).
Return to the stairs and move up them. Examine the box at the top and note the lock. Use the Paper Clip (in its new form) to open it up. Oh no! It broke. Don't worry, as all is not lost. Drag the broken Paper Clip over either of the two chest hinges (be precise or it won't work). Doing so will open the chest and reveal a
Knife (3/4).
Walk around the catwalk and check out the hanging ball. Something is "glinting" on it. Since you can't reach it, use the Knife on the rope holding up the ball. Make your way downstairs to examine your handy work and collect the object next to the fallen ball. It's a
Wing Tip (4/4).
Talk to Roachy
Do just that.
