Introduction and Gameplay Info

Welcome to the Lunabean.com LEGO Star Wars Walkthrough and Strategy Guide. This guide will get you through all 17 levels and includes all 170 LEGO Canister locations. The guide will work for the PS2, Xbox, and PC version of the game.

Dexter's Diner

Dexter's Diner is your hub. It is where you choose which levels to play, where you can buy Extras, Characters, Hints, and enter codes. There is also a Garage outside of the Diner where you can view the various LEGO ships you made via collecting LEGO Canisters (aka "Mini Kit"). When you first start you'll only be able to go through one door: "I" (Episode I). After you go through "I", go through the door marked "1". This means Episode I, Chapter 1. After you complete the first chapter you'll have unlocked Episode II and III. I recommend playing the chapters in order, however, you can skip around if you like. There is also a fourth door marked "?". This door is unlocked by getting all 17 of the Super-Kit pieces by filling up your True Jedi Status meter in each level. You fill up this meter by getting Studs.

Collecting Studs

Studs are the money in this game. Silver are worth 10, Gold 100, and Blue 1,000. Studs help your Jedi Status meter and allow you to purchase things in Dexter's Diner. If you get killed you'll lose some of your Studs. You do have a quick chance to run around and pick them back up, but you'll almost always lose a few.

A few tips on collecting studs, especially when going for the Jedi Status meter (Super-Kit):
Do your best not to die. It is sometimes better to play in "Free Play" mode so that you have access to areas you wouldn't otherwise. Every once in a while you'll see a black plant or a black door. This means that only a Dark Jedi can affect them (Darth Maul, Count Dooku, etc.). Many plants can be destroyed using the double jump Lightsaber attack. Even if you already used your Force Power on a plant, you still might be able to destroy it afterwards. If you see an object glow, use Force Power on it. More likely than not it will give you some Studs. It might be to your advantage to play with a partner. Your totals are cumulative, so don't worry about who has how much, instead, the two of you are more efficient at collecting the Studs together.

Finally, be sure to explore everywhere. I don't tell you each and every place to find studs in this guide. I assume a certain ability on your end to explore each nook and cranny, looking for things that glow (Force Power) or objects that you can destroy.

Story Mode vs. Free Play Mode

In order to unlock Free Play Mode for any particular level you first have to complete the Story Mode. In Story Mode you are stuck with the characters that the game gives you. In Free Play Mode you can switch between any of six characters that will help you get to places that you'd otherwise not be able to reach. When you enter Free Play Mode, player 2 (green circle) will automatically be whoever your partner is at the time you start playing any particular Free Play (whoever you're running around with). Then, you can choose who you want to be. Since you should always have a Dark Jedi with you, you should purchase (back out in Dexter's Diner) then choose a Dark Jedi as your character. The other four characters are selected by the computer but will always include one Grappler, one small character, and one high-jumper. The flying chapters don't have a Free Play mode for obvious reasons.

Mini-Kit - LEGO Canisters

Each chapter has 10 hidden LEGO Canisters. Collecting all ten Canisters completes the Mini-Kit for the chapter, which is usually a ship from that level. There is nothing gained by getting all of the Canisters other than you get to view the completed ships in Dexter's Garage and you earn a 50,000 Stud bonus. Even though you aren't rewarded for getting the Canisters, the Canisters often show you new paths to Studs that you wouldn't have otherwise found. You also get the satisfaction of completing the game in full by finding all of the Canisters.

It is best to go after the Canisters in Free Play mode or you simply won't be able to reach some of them. Always take a Dark Jedi with you (purchase one in the Diner) because there are some doors/plants that are black which will only respond to a Dark Jedi. This means that it's best to play through the entire game in Story Mode before you go on your Canister hunt. That way you'll have access to Darth Maul, Count Dooku, and Darth Sidious. I chose to buy Darth Maul as he is the cheapest and does the job.

Super-Kit - Jedi Status Meter

There are 17 Super-Kit pieces (one per chapter). Earning all 17 Super-Kit pieces unlocks the fourth "?" door in Dexter's Diner. The "?" door is Episode IV, Chapter 1. This is a quick playable level of the beginning of "A New Hope". There is no Jedi Meter and no LEGO Canisters, so it's just basically a fun playable level. You also unlock Leia and Darth Vader by completing the level.

Naming Conventions

Throughout the "LEGO Canister" sections of the guide I often refer to R2-D2 and C-3P0. R2-D2 is an Astromech Droid. This is a class of droids that looks like R2-D2 but also includes R4-P17. If I say, "use R2-D2" and you only have R4-P17, then use R4-P17. They are all Astromech droids that all function the same way. C-3P0 is a Protocol Droid which also includes TC-14. If I say, "use C-3P0," that means to use whatever Protocol Droid you currently have.

If it Glows...

You'll know you can use your Force Power when you see an object glow. You use your Force Power to either move an object, make it release Studs, or to deflect objects being thrown at you by other Jedis (usually in final battles). When on Stud hunts or if you're stuck (and you shouldn't be if you have this guide), make sure that you look for anything that glows.

To use your Force Power, press and hold the "Force Power" button.

Tagging

You can use the "Tag Character" button to switch between the two characters on the screen. Simply get near the other character and hit the button and you'll become that other character. This is useful for some puzzles and when you need a certain skill that you don't have (like making Young Anakin go through a vent).

Purchasing at Dexter's Diner

Once you have some Studs, you can go up to the bar in Dexter's Diner and purchase: Hints, Characters, and Extras. You can also enter codes here, but you don't buy them, and we don't cover cheats in our guides. Purchasing hints is really useless as you'll probably already know the tip in the hint. Buying characters is fun and you should definitely buy a Dark Jedi so that you can use him in Free Play mode when doing Canister hunts. Extras include such silly things as making your players have moustaches, making all characters be silhouettes, and making your characters have large blasters. There is also a Minikit Detector, which would be useful if you didn't already have this guide.
