Basically, you're just gonna learn how to fight here. "X" is your Swift Attack. "Triangle" is your Fierce Attack (breaks shields). "Circle" is a Kick. "Square" is a Defend. "R2" is your Kill move. "L2" allows you to Jump Backwards quickly. That's about it for this mission. Just keep hacking with "X" and the "Triangle". You'll get through pretty easily.
Use your TORCH to attack the Ringwraiths. If your torch goes out, go over to the fire and swing your TORCH through it. To swing your TORCH, use the "Triangle" button or push "Up" on the Right Analog Stick. Just keep swinging at them and relighting your torch when it goes out.
OK, this is your first chance to play as one of the three: Aragorn, Gimli, or Legolas. Now is a good time to get Gimli or Legolas some action to help them level up. Or, if you want, you can keep leveling up Aragorn.
No matter who you are, your job it to work your way ahead of the Fellowship and explore a possible route. You're going to have lots of Orcs to deal with, so just keep slashing away and following the path. There only one way to go. Keep your eye out for Wooden Crates/Boxes. They have items in them.
Eventually, you'll get to the mean Water Monster. Get right into the water with him, as close as you can. Then, use the "Square" button to block the arms flailing around. When the arms wriggle around, slash at them. This will cause the Monster to rise up from the water. Hit him with an Arrow. Repeat.
Here's a surprise. Just kill lots of Orcs and follow the path. Pay attention to Frodo's Health meter in the upper right. Not that you can do anything about it, but keep your eye on it. Also, near that meter, you'll see the number of Orcs that you have to kill to advance.
Boromir is now dead and you must avenge his death by killing the Boss Orc. Shoot the Orc with arrows until he drops his Bow and picks up his big Sword. Avoid him and run around/near one of the many statues in the area. The Orc will eventually get his Sword stuck in one of the statues. Attack him with all you got (we used Aragorn and the "X, X, Triangle" combo that we bought to severly damage the Orc when he's stuck). You'll have to repeat this process several times.
Follow the path, slash the various logs that will be in your way. You'll run into a mean guy in a log that needs to be killed with arrows. Then, you'll run into another mean Troll. The Troll can be beatten by using your force attack on him, then jumping away as he swings his club. Force attack, jump away, force attack, jump away...and so on. Soon, the mean nasty troll will die.
Slash the gate once and it falls. Move on killing everything around. Move up the river. Fight some more orcs, run into your second troll of the level. Force attack, jump away, force attack, jump away. You remember.
Move ahead slashing logs and vines to move on. You'll run into another mean orc which can only be killed with arrows. Do so, move on fighting more orcs.
Eventually, you'll run into two trolls. Break through the logs and do your normal troll thing. There's a crate with health in it to the right of the trolls. Once you kill them, break through the vines in the cave and enter.
Fight through the village. When you've cleared it out, Gandalf will use his powers to smash open a door to one of the houses. Enter.
In the house, you'll see villagers trapped behind fire. Smash the barrel in front of you to put out the fire. Fight your way up and out of the building.
You'll run into another orc that can only be killed with arrows. Get him. Continue working your way up the path. Look out for fire. Where there's fire, there usually are water barrels. Some you'll need to hit with your arrows as you can't reach them any other way.
Keep fighting and running through the burning houses. Gandalf returns and you'll fight another battle with him. Once every bad guy in the area is dead, you'll be able to slash through the broken wheelbarrow on the ground. Continue up the path. There is a cut scene.
Clear out a few of the bad guys, then slash through the planks blocking the door trapping the people behind it. Continue fighting. There's another mean orc you can only kill with arrows. Once you clear the area, you've cleared the level.
Fight through the first area. Try not to hit the explosives with your sword (although it's fun to hit them with arrows, killing anyone standing by).
Soon you'll run into guys with explosives on their backs. Don't even think of slashing them. However, hitting them with your arrows is beautiful. Mmmmm...orc guts.
Continue on killing Orcs, blowing up Explosives, and keeping your eye out for the Orcs with explosives on their backs.
You'll start off with a couple of Wolves attacking you. You can fight them or not. Your friends pretty much take care of them. After they're dead, smash the planks of the burning house and walk through.
Shoot the Wolves of Isengaard with your Arrows. They're not too tough. Then, you're gonna have a Boss Wolf. He's not too hard, either...he just takes patience. All you have to do is wait for him to charge. When he charges, simply block him. He may knock you down, but no damage will be done. Stay close to him, so when he get's on his hind legs and exposes his belly, you're right there to slash him with a Force attack, or your favorite combo. During the battle, he'll call in other wolves. Just shoot them with arrows and gather whatever they drop. Continue blocking, then attacking the belly of the Boss Wolf until he goes down.
Big battle here. The scene prefacing it is awesome. Nice. Anyway, your main focus here is kicking down the many ladders. If bad guys get in your way, kill them. However, your main focus should purely be knocking down the ladders. Once you kick one down, it will come back up, so you're basically running in circles. Watch the meter above. If it's red, start slashing the bad guys around, then kick, kick, kick. Eventually, there will be a cut scene and you've completed the level.
You are protecting the door, so watch the door meter on your screen.
As the battle begins, shoot your arrows at the orcs with explosives. I chose to run at them and shoot them at their entrance, this way you can kill three at once. From here, you'll be attacked by many creatures. In this level, the Death Charge is your friend. Use it and your Force Attack like there's no tomorrow. Always keep an eye out for the explosive guys running toward you. They won't damage you much, but they will damage the door. Sometimes you can use them to your advantage by shooting them near a group of orcs at they door, as one explosive charge is better than having ten orcs banging down the door. You'll fight and you'll fight and you'll fight. Protect the door with everything you have. Soon the Troll will be set loose on you. Kill him as you did before: Force attack, then jump back, over and over again. However, this time, shoot an arrow right after you jump back. You may get lucky and hit some of the explosive running orcs that pass by as you fight the Troll, and damage the door. Also, if you hit them near the Troll, the Troll will lose some health. When the Troll is down, run forward. You'll get a cut scene. The baddies are bringing in the big guns...or the big catapult. You have to destroy the catapult. I opted to ignore the men that come out with the catapult, and just ran for the catapult itself. You must take down the three sides of the catapult. Use your force attack, your death charge, and any other strong combo you feel comfortable with. Just hit it constantly. When you knock off a side, start on the other side or the front. Eventually the catapult will collapse and you will have defeated the level...which is no small task.
Well here's another ugly level and another wall to protect. EEK! I've read to use your banes in this level...I really didn't and I made it, but using them seems to have helped a lot of people.
When you start out, simply block the door. Get yourself between anything attacking and the door. A lot of health is dropped when you kill off guys, so your own health is something you don't really need to worry about.
Like the last mission, I used the force attack and the death charge all over the place. Keep the baddies away from the door! After defeating a whole bunch of bad guys, you'll hear Legolas calling for help, and you'll see he
has a meter on top now. Forget the door and head to your right (if you're facing the door). Run up the stairs, pass the guys fighting, run up the next set of stairs, and kill the guys attacking your friend. Now, head back down, but make sure
Legolas is with you. Have him follow you to the second set of stairs. Once you get him there, he'll follow you all the way down back to the door.
You're fighting, you're fighting and you're fighting some more. You'll hear a call about arrows (or you'll see the fire arrows being shot at the door). At this point, go up the stairs again, and shoot the archers across the way. There aren't many of them, but they can do some damage. Head downstairs again, and make sure Legolas is following you again. More fighting.
Eventually, you'll get to a cut scene where two trolls come in. You need to focus on these trolls, as their clubs do major damage to the door. If your friends are fighting them, strike them from the back (they hate that). If you're one on one with them, do your force attack, jump back move. Once you've killed both the trolls, you have defeated the level and the game! Nice work! Man, those were a rough last few levels there. Phew!
There are 20 Floors to fight through. It's basically a battle arena.
