Welcome to Lunabean's Unofficial "Lost Planet" Walkthrough and Strategy Guide. The first part of this guide covers the single player campaign and the second part covers online multiplayer.

The single player campaign is written based upon the "Normal" difficultly level.

You'll find Target Mark locations at the end of each mission. It's easiest to get through the mission once in order to finish it, and then play through again to find the Target Marks. Although the locations of the Target Marks change based upon the difficulty level, you only need to collect one set of Target Marks per level to earn the Achievement. That is why I only have the "Normal" difficulty Target Marks listed. Finding them based on a different difficulty is only gravy.

The online multiplayer section of this guide explains the variety of games you can play, how it is different from the single player campaign, and gives you tips and suggestions to be successful.

With that, it's time to set off and begin your adventure!

Mission 00 - Training


Run forward, following your fellow soldier and fire your Anchor (grapple) with the "X" button at the ledge where you see your fellow soldier fire it. You'll end up on the ledge. Follow the path and go up the stairs. Wait for the door to be opened and head through. Make sure your with a group of soldiers at this point as you want to make sure that you're keeping up with them. They'll stop and blow open a hatch in the floor. Drop through the hatch which will cause your Anchor to automatically grab the ledge. Use the "Left Analog Stick" to lower yourself. If you miss this step and simply fall to the ground, don't worry. It's actually a faster way down. Release at the bottom with "X" and then watch out for the rolling Akrid. It'll hit a wall. Help to to kill it by firing at the colored part of its tail. When it dies you'll be told about Thermal Energy and the Harmonizer Life Support System.

Thermal Energy is what powers your Exposure Suit and your Harmonizer Life Support System. Each time you kill an enemy he/she/it releases Thermal Energy (often destroying objects, like cars, will also release T-Eng). This Thermal Energy is then stored in your hip container to power your Exposure Suit. If your Thermal Energy runs down to 0, you're Exposure Suit will be ineffective, and you'll see your life gauge fall. If you don't get more Thermal Energy fast, you'll die. The Thermal Energy gauge is not just a one-bar gauge. You can repeatedly fill it up (you'll see various colors overlay one another). The number of bars you currently have filled is indicated by the number to the right of the gauge.

Thermal Energy also powers your Harmonizer Life Support system, aka, your Life Gauge. As long as you have Thermal Energy, it'll be used to refill your life gauge if you take damage.

Back to the game...go up to the red and glowing T-Eng and walk over it to pick it up. Continue to follow your teammates and you'll soon arrive in an open area where you'll see two Akrid Nests on the sides of the buildings. Shoot these nests to stop the Trilids (the flying Akrids) from emerging from them. Collect any T-Eng in the area and then approach the Data Post, which is the cylinder with the light emitting from the top of it. To activate it, rapidly tap "B". An antenna will emerge and you'll learn about Data Posts.

Data Posts and Radar

Each stage in the game has a multitude of Data Posts. In general, you'll want to go from Data Post to Data Post in order to get through the game. Upon activating a Data Post you'll notice that your Radar springs to life, as well as your Map (hit "Back" to see your map). It'll also give you a nice boost of T-Eng and point you in the direction of the next Data Post.

Now that your Radar is active, you should get familiar with it. Green Squares are fellow humans. Red Circles are Akrid. Blue Triangles are VS (Vital Suits, aka, Mechs). Yellow Posts are Data Posts. The Orange Arrow on the outer rim of the Radar is the direction of the next Data Post.

Run to the next Data Post (which is already activated) and you'll get a cutscene. Poor Dad...we have a plot!!! After the scene is over, head East, following your teammates. Turn the corner to the right and when you hear one of them say, "Wayne, over here," note that they enter a recessed staircase on the right side of the street. Follow them up the staircase and stay with them as you make your way forward (don't lag behind or else you'll die).

VS (Vital Suit)

You'll soon get to your first VS, or Vital Suit. There are a variety of VSs in the game, each with different abilities are armament. In this case, you're getting into a PTX-140, but that really doesn't matter. What you need to know about VSs is that each one has different abilities. Some allow you to hover, like this one, some can only jump, some can jump great distances. They also have different weapons, again, it's just a case by case basis, so don't worry about the specifics.

Your T-Eng powers the VS so make sure to keep an eye on your T-Eng gauge. If the T-Eng drops to less than 100, the VS will stop working. If the T-Eng gets down to 0, you'll need to eject by rapidly tapping "B".

Back to the game, use your VS to move forward and you'll soon encounter the Green Eye. Begin shooting at the green spots on the side of him. You can't defeat him at this point, so you're simply trying to survive long enough for a cutscene to start. When it does, watch it for some exposition.
