PMC - Universal Petroleum

Setting a Beacon

Hop into the pink car (Racing Inferno) and drive out of the villa compound. Upon exiting, Fiona will tell you to open your PDA and set a beacon on the "Steal Truck" yellow marker. Do so and you'll see a white moving dotted line on your radar (GPS) showing you where to go.

When you approach the truck (an old blue pickup), you'll find that it is guarded. Kill anybody you wish (I only killed the guy near the driver's side door) and hop into the truck. Open your map and set a beacon on "Return guns to UP HQ".

Return guns to UP HQ

The truck has a load of guns in its bed and the value of those guns is shown on the right of the screen. You need to deliver them. As I just stated, set a beacon and drive like a crazy person toward it. Avoid any enemies as best as you can, knowing that you only need to deliver one gun ($500 worth of cargo) in order to have the mission be successful.

When you get near the target look for the yellow icon and drive into the yellow ring. Get out of the vehicle to complete the mission.

Note that you'll probably be under attack, even after completing the delivery. To make everything nice and quiet, go to the right of the delivery area. Here you'll see the front gate of Universal Petroleum and a yellow light that you can step into and "talk" to the intercom. Doing so will allow you to begin the "UP - Devastator" mission if you please, but more importantly, if you decline, you'll rejoin the game without anybody attacking you.

UP - The Devastator

This mission becomes available after completing "PMC - Universal Petroleum". In downtown Maracaibo, go to the front gate of Universal Petroleum HQ and enter the yellow light. "Talk" to the intercom and you'll get the option to begin this mission.

Retrieve the Devastator

Head to the yellow marker, a UP Merc. Don't fear getting attacked. Just walk right up to him and "Talk" to him. He'll tell you that the Devastator is across the street. Although you may think that the Devastator is the tank, it isn't. Go behind the tank and you'll find the small pink moped that is the Devastator.

Drive it back to the yellow circle to the left of the gate of UP HQ (the same yellow circle you drove the pickup truck into for "PMC - Universal Petroleum". You'll be rewarded with some cash, but more importantly, can now enter UP HQ and talk to Dr. Reuben.

UP - Phone Tag

This mission is available after "UP - The Devastator". Enter UP HQ's main gate and go up to the skyscraper. "Enter" by stepping into the yellow light. You'll automatically talk to Dr. Reuben who will offer you this contract.

Deliver Listening Posts

Hop into one of UP's black pickup trucks (Raven) and hit the button shown to you ("B" on X360) to call allies into your truck...that is, some UP mercs will hop into your truck and man the gun on the back of it.

The basic gist here is to head to each of the three targets. Once there, locate the yellow circle and call in a Listening Post which makes a helicopter fly in and drop it off. However, if you see any red icon "SAM" (surface to air missile) sites near the drop zone, you need to eliminate them first, or they'll shoot down the helicopter.

Do note that UP has been kind enough to give you two Cluster Bomb air supports. You can call these in if you wish.

Here is how I did it.

West Listening Post

Drive to the west target first. Drive up the parking garage ramps to the top level of it where you'll see the yellow circle. Get out and shoot any nearby enemies. Locate the SAM site on the next building over. Shoot the enemy manning it (or toss grenades, RPGs, or call in a Cluster Bomb). When the SAM site is taken out, it's safe to call in the listening post. Step into the yellow circle and do so (hit UP on the D-Pad and then select "Listening Post Delivery").

Run back down the ramps of the parking garage (be sure you look for confirmation that the Listening Post was delivered) and steal one of the enemy's vehicles (these are VZA soldiers). Drive toward the south marker.

South Listening Post - Disguised as the Enemy

As you drive, you'll see a little meter appear on the bottom left of your screen. This is the disguise meter. As you get farther away from the chaos you created, you'll be less suspicious and if you stay out of trouble for a short period of time, you'll soon be disguised as a VZ soldier. You'll stay disguised as long as you don't do anything out of character, like attack a fellow soldier.

Because you are disguised, you'll have no problem driving directly into the south target area. There are no SAMs to worry about, so just go ahead and call in a Listening Post.

East Listening Post - Stealing a Tank

Leave the enemy vehicle behind and hop into a civilian vehicle of any kind. The UP trucks and tanks won't bother you as such.

If you set a beacon on the target, you'll end up south of the target, inside the rectangular compound of the UP Depot. You don't want to be here.

Instead, drive like a mad man just south of the target, between the north wall of the UP Depot and the south wall of the target compound. Here you'll see an enemy tank. If you don't see it, just drive around this grassy area until it finds you.

When it does, drive right up to it and hop out of your car. Quickly shoot the gunner and then hijack the tank (you need to shoot the gunner in order to make hijacking available).

Once you are in control of the tank, drive around until you get the enemy disguise meter full. Once you do, drive up to the nearby main gate. As you approach it, it'll open for you. Drive through it and in front of you (and slightly to the right), you'll see the yellow circle for the final Listening Post. Drive into the circle and face south. Your disguise should still be active at this point, meaning you are not being attacked.

Take a look at the two trucks and the barracks building behind the left side truck (again, you're in the tank, facing south at this point, inside the yellow circle). Get ready to blow your disguise. Shoot the right truck, then the left truck, and then lay into the barracks until it is destroyed. The barracks actually contains men with RPGs, so if you're not careful, they can shoot through little openings in the barracks at you. By laying into it with five or six shots, you should be able to destroy it fairly quickly.

With those major obstacles out of the way, scan for any other threats, and then go ahead and hop out of the tank. Call in the final Listening Post which will then triangulate the hostage.

Hijack kidnapper's vehicle

The kidnapper's vehicle itself is an armored car. Drive whatever vehicle you want to the target icon, which is the armored car. When you get near it, follow it and ram it from behind in order to shove it into a building or other cars. While it's partially stopped or slowed, hop out of your car and go to the back of the armored car. Here you'll see a "Hijack Armored Car" prompt. Much like hijacking a tank, watch for the button prompts to take control of the vehicle.

Drive the armored car to UP HQ and park it in the yellow circle.

Enter the Lucky Lady

One huge advantage to doing this mission is that you get a helicopter pilot. In this case, it's Ewan who flies the Lucky Lady. Head to the nearby marked helipad and get into the helicopter. The map will open allowing you to choose where to fly. Scroll south and choose PMC (your HQ).

Reward: 500K
PMC Landing Zone Unlocked.

PMC HQ

Now back at your home base, talk to Fiona to learn about the PLAV (People's Liberation Army of Venezuela) and then talk to Ewan upstairs (he's the helicopter icon) to learn about the mechanic Eva. Doing so will give you work. To see it, open your map and hit the "Factions" button ("Y" on X360). Select PMC to see "Doom Patrol" on Eva's icon. Select People's Liberation Army of Venezuela to see "Orinoco River Outpost". Select Universal Petroleum to see "Altagracia Outpost".

For consistency's sake, I'll stick with Universal Petroleum missions for now.

Talk to Ewan again and this time, choose "Transport". Select UP HQ to be dropped off and then head east to the UP Depot.

UP - Altagracia Outpost

This mission is unlocked after completing "UP - Phone Tag". Head to the UP Depot, east of UP HQ, and enter the barracks by stepping into the green light. You'll meet Drew Marlow, a new Contact. Choose "Altagracia Outpost" to start the mission.

This mission will require you to take out an outpost. UP has given you access to a strike team who you need to summon in order to secure the area.

The way to approach this mission is to simply drive there and clear out the enemies in and around the yellow marker. Once the outpost is clear, call in the strike team near the building with the yellow marker. They'll land and will one-by-one enter the building. As they do, you'll see the three red Outpost "X"s on the right of your screen turn blue. Once all three strike team members have entered the outpost, the mission will end.

If, for some reason, the strike team does not enter the building go around the perimeter of the outpost (and a few blocks in each direction) in an attempt to find any straggling enemy soldiers.

Altagracia Landing Zone Unlocked.

UP - Maracaibo Airport Outpost

This mission is unlocked after completing "UP - Altagracia Outpost". Head to the Altagracia Outpost and enter the barracks by stepping into the green light. You'll meet Jim Wahlquist, a new Contact. Choose "Maracaibo Airport Outpost" to start the mission.

Note that, for the first time, the game is recommending that you have a supply drop available to you. In this case, it's a C4 supply drop. Having done all of the UP missions up to this point, you should have this as an option. If not, be sure you completed all of the UP Missions above and/or shop for it before you leave.

Like the previous outpost mission, this one requires you to clear the area of most enemies and then call in the strike team. Before you enter the outpost, make sure that you call in that C4 drop (if you don't have any).

I simply went in there with my automatic rifle and cleared it out piece by piece. I used one RPG on the first turret gun bunker and shot the enemy manning the other turret gun in the other bunker. When it came to the two barracks that you encounter, one nearer and one farther away, with the guys firing RPGs at you, I avoided the shots, ran up to the door, and placed a C4 on it. I then ran away and detonated it, destroying each of the two barracks.

Once they were clear, I eliminated the guard tower soldiers in the north end of the area, and at that point, called in the strike team.

Be aware that there is a plethora of supplies in this area that you can have your helicopter pick up. These include fuel, airstrikes (bombing runs), and money.

Maracaibo Airport Landing Zone Unlocked.

UP - Cabimas Outpost

This mission is unlocked after completing "UP - Maracaibo Airport Outpost". Head to the Maracaibo Airport Outpost and enter the barracks by stepping into the green light. You'll meet Ali Zandi, a new Contact. Choose "Cabimas Outpost" to start the mission.

I recommend that you purchase and equip Mantis Light Tank and at least one C4 drop (if you don't already have it).

This outpost is rather difficult. I called in the Mantis Light Tank outside the perimeter of the outpost. I then drove it right up to the main entrance and started firing at the trucks and tank that attacked. Be aware that there is a barracks nearby which has a lot of enemies inside. Avoid the RPG fire as best as you can and hammer that barracks until it blows up (five or six shots).

If the tank is still in one piece at this point, keep driving around, causing damage until it blows up. Try to focus on the SAM site (you can't call in the Strike Team until it's gone) and/or the other barracks.

If the tank is toast at this point, then use your RPG (if you have it) to destroy the SAM site and C4 for the other barracks (it may take several C4s).

Of course, clear out other enemies with your normal assault rifle (or whatever you have) and take cover often to heal. Be on the lookout for health packs.

When things are quiet, call in the strike team to end the mission.

Be sure to grab the various fuel, money, and airstrikes around the area.

Cabimas Landing Zone Unlocked.

UP - Leave No Trace

This mission is unlocked after completing "UP - Cabimas Outpost". You initiate it at UP HQ.

Upon accepting the mission, you are given a list of recommendations: Grenade Launcher Drop, 2 UP Air Attacks, and a Raven. Don't worry about any of this. Just follow the course of action below and you'll be fine.

Find Executive

Hop into a civilian car and drive to the yellow marker, Maracaibo Refinery, just east of the Cabimas Outpost. Bust through the front gates and drive up to the eight enemies whom you have to kill. I got lucky and my car exploded in the middle of them, taking out four in one fell swoop. I then shot the other four (one may be on the pedestrian bridge above).

After all eight marked enemies are eliminated, scour the area for the Carbine (a great automatic rifle). Then, locate the new yellow marker, an executive inside a nearby warehouse. Go up to him and "Talk" to him.

Bring executive to first site

Your job is to escort the executive from site to site. And, you have to be quick. Each site is a UP stronghold, so you will have some UP support.

Note that you have a button prompt near the bottom of your screen to "Stay". Hit that button and the new prompt will be to "Follow". By toggling back and forth, you can make the executive stay where he is or follow you. Use this to your advantage to keep the executive safe, out of the line of fire until you clear things out, and then make him follow you.

The first site is south of you a bit. Hop into a car, preferably a Raven (black pickup) if one is nearby. Make sure the executive hops in with you. Open your map and set a beacon on the first site. Drive to it and hop out inside the yellow circle. Lead the exec into the yellow circle if he's not cooperating.

While the exec is inside the small warehouse doing his thang, you'll be told to run up the ramp of the ship behind you. Do so, and run to the north side of it. Here you will find a Recoiless Rifle (a mounted powerful gun) that you can man. Do so and shoot any oncoming enemies. After destroying about five jeeps-worth of enemies, Fiona will chime in and tell you that enemies are approaching from the south.

Unman the recoiless rifle and run to the south side of the ship where you'll conveniently find another recoiless rifle. Man it and shoot the oncoming enemies.

Next, you'll be told that more enemies are coming from the north. Run back there and man the Heavy MG (the recoiless rifle may have been blown up by now). Use it to clear out enemies until you are told that you reached a checkpoint and to get the exec to the second location.

Bring executive to second site

Drive the exec to the yellow circle of the second location. This time, you'll be attacked from the north, and then the east and west pretty much at the same time. There are a variety of Heavy MGs which you can use to counter the attacks. Be sure to take make your priority enemies with RPGs and enemies manning turret guns in their trucks.

Do make sure to keep an eye on the "Warehouse" health meter (right side of screen). If it's taking a lot of damage, it pretty much means somebody is shooting RPGs at it. Locate that enemy(s) and take him out post haste.

After holding back various waves of enemies from each of the three sides, you'll be told that some equipment will be dropped in for you. You'll automatically receive two Anti-Air Kits. Note that in conjunction with this, that two red blips will appear on your radar. These are enemy helicopters. Go ahead and feel free to use the Anti-Air Kits if you wish.

However, they're really not necessary as soon you'll be told to get the exec back to UP HQ.

Return executive to UP HQ

There's nothing fancy here. Hop into any nearby vehicle, make sure the exec is with you, and set a beacon for UP HQ. Drive there and into the yellow circle to end the mission.
