Phaaze - Landing Site

Upon exiting your ship some odd things will start to happen to you due to the high Phazon content on this planet. Your Energy Tanks will be replaced by a Phazon Meter and you are now permanently in Hypermode.

Phazon Meter: The Phazon Meter is the yellow bar at the top of the screen. Just being on this planet causes this meter to rise. If it fills up, you die.

To prevent it from filling up you need to collect Anti-Phazon Orbs, which are essentially Energy Orbs, but work backwards. You get these orbs by killing enemies.

You can also lower your Phazon Meter by using your Hyper Grapple to send Phazon into enemies or by standing near Phazon Puffers who suck Phazon from you (just don't get hit by their attack).

Head to Entry Canyon and use your Hyper Grapple on the organic mass blocking the door. Go forward and drop down the shaft. Go through the door to Cavern Alpha and Morph to roll under the Phazon tendrils. Use the platforms to get up to the large crystal mass and shoot it with a Missile to get through.

Jump the gaps and then go through to Cavern Beta Access. Morph and enter the Morph Ball path. Hold "A" to attack all of the little pod plants. When all are destroyed, the big pod blocking your path will blow up. Continue this process until you exit. Unmorph and proceed along, blowing up crystals where necessary to get through the next door.

You'll enter the top of Drop Shaft. Morph and use "A" to blow up the small pods feeding into the large plant pod. When it blows, enter the Morph Ball path and drop down to another set of pods. Destroy them and the next set of pods that you drop down to. After the third set you'll drop all the way to the bottom of the shaft and will be sucked up by a Maw. Hold "A" to destroy him.

Go through the door to Metroid Cavern. Drop down to the bottom of the cavern, kill the Metroids if you like, and then head over to the next door. It has impenetrable plating on it, however, you'll see little creatures pop out around the perimeter of the door. Shoot each little creature that pops out until all of them pop out at the same time and then fire a Missile at the door to bust it open.

Go through and take out Phazon Hoppers until the phazon covering the door explodes (about 12 of them). Go through the door to Hatcher Shaft and drop down. An unknown bioform will grab you and try to eat you. Shoot at its mouth until it drops you. At the bottom, destroy the Black Crystals for Anti-Phazon Orbs and then go through the door.

You'll be in Hatcher Tunnel. Blast the pink phazon with a Missile and drop down. Go through the door and you'll see the Leviathan Womb hanging down. Whatever you do, don't drop down into the area below the womb or you'll take a ton of damage. To destroy the Womb, locate the Grapple Points, one on each side of it, and Grapple them.

Then, equip your X-Ray Visor and locate the baby Leviathan inside. Shoot at it. You're going to have to go back and forth between the two sides of the womb in order to damage it. You'll know you're hitting it when it turns white/glows. If you're not seeing it get hit, go to the other side of the womb and fire at it from there. All the while, take out the Metroids that are bugging you.

When it blows up it'll leave behind a mass of Anti-Phazon Orbs. Draw them to you and then drop through the hole it created.

Final Boss Fight

Dark Samus

This stage of the fight is very easy. Simply shoot at Dark Samus. I exclusively used the regular Beam shot (no charged shots, no missiles). When she rises up to recharge her energy simply shoot her more until her orb breaks. When she splits up into two or three and does the same, simply shoot each orb until you find the real Dark Samus who will then return to normal. When the Dark Samuses (Sami?) fire Phazon orbs at you simply shoot them. Honestly, there is nothing difficult here and no trickery.

When you have exhausted her health she'll merge with the Aurora Unit.

Aurora Unit

Shoot the end of a tentacle and the place where the tentacle emerged will temporarily glow yellow. Fire at the yellow to damage the AU (this damage won't register on the meter). After you've done this a few times the AU will crash to the ground. Run up to it and Grapple the head plate off of it. As it rises back up you'll have time to shoot at least two Missiles at the exposed head (you can use the Beam as well, but I found Missiles to work well).

Repeat this until you enter the next stage of the battle.

As far as the attacks go it really only has two: purple phazon beam and Dark Samus. You can jump the beam easily. When the three Dark Samuses appear, shoot each of them. This will produce Anti-Phazon Orbs.

Also, after each successful round with shooting its head, be on the look out for a good deal of Anti-Phazon Orbs. Make sure to grab them.

Once the meter gets down you'll enter the next stage of this battle.

Aurora Unit - Head

The AU-Head has a weak spot on its back (the back of the head). You'll have three different opportunities to damage it.

1. When the head does its yellow beam attack stay away from the beams and shoot the weak spot when you can.

2. When the head is charging up the blue orb shot shoot its mouth where it's charging. You'll stun it. If you're far away from the head, Morph and boost behind it, unmorph and fire at it.

3. While it's doing its spinning on the ground attack shoot at it to stun it. This is the best of the three. Get behind it and lay into it with Missiles.

Keep attacking it using these opportunities as they present themselves to you.

It's attacks are fairly minor and all can be avoided, particularly if you disrupt the attacks to stun the head. Be sure to stay far away from the yellow beam attack as it can do a lot of damage. Also, when the projectiles fall from the sky you can shoot them.

When the Head is destroyed the game will end. Congrats!
