Find the Acid Shield Unit

You'll want to head to the "?", Find the Acid Shield Unit (aka, Craneyard). The quickest way there is via Transit Station 1-A. When you arrive at Craneyard, you'll remember that I earlier pointed out the tall vertical Magnetic Rail. Now that you have the Spider Ball you can use it. Ride the Magnetic Rail and you'll drop down into a sealed room from where you can see the Hazard Suit. Alas, you can't reach it yet.

Locate the nearby Morph Ball path (you dropped in from the one above) and jump up to enter it. You'll end up in the central structure and you'll have two Morph Ball Spinners and a Morph Ball path. The slot on the left rotates the bottom half of the central column. The slot on the right rotates the upper half.

First, you should get an upgrade, then you'll go after the Hazard Shield. Enter the slot on the right and rotate it (Boost) two pieces, or until the upper half lines up a navigable path for you to the right side of the red tube at the top. Set a Bomb to leave the Spinner and then take the path up to the MISSILE EXPANSION (26 of 50). Make your way back down.

Enter the left Ball Slot and rotate it one piece, or so that you have the Magnetic Rail path whose top exits you at the middle. Exit the Ball Slot and enter the right one. Rotate it two pieces to line up the Mag Rail whose top exits to the left of the piece. In other words, align both pieces so that you have a path to the left side of the red morph ball tube at the top.

Enter the Morph Ball path and use your Spider Ball to go up. Follow the red tube and you'll exit in a room with a hand terminal. Activate the terminal to bring the HAZARD SHIELD to you.

Hazard Shield: The Hazard Shield suit upgrade allows you to safely be exposed to Acid Rain and Fuel Gel.

Just after you grab the Hazard Shield two Assault Aerotroopers will fly in and smash the windows. Their armor can deflect Missiles so use beam fire to break their armor and then fire Missiles at them. After you have eliminated them, jump down and activate the hand terminal at the base of the central structure. This opens the blue energy field for you to exit, but also causes three Assault Troopers to attack. Use Hypermode to quickly dispense of them.

Use the platforms to jump up to the room with the Mag Rail where you originally started this little quest and then make your way to Metroid Processing. When you arrive, take out the two Metroid and then head across to the Ice Missile door that I mentioned oh so long ago. The reason you didn't take this path earlier is because there is Acid Rain down this path. Now, that's not an issue.

Go through the Ice Missile door and you'll enter Creche Transit. Blow up the cracked Morph Ball cover and enter. Roll until you get to the Morph Ball Spinner and Boost to rotate the path. Continue along the path grabbing the MISSILE EXPANSION (27 of 50). Exit back out and jump up to the Green Ledge. Turn the corner to the left and locate the Phazon Crystal wall. Enter Hypermode and fire a Missile at it to destroy it. Go through it and then go through the door to Metroid Creche.

In this room you'll find several locked holding cells (sunken) and a Wall Jump Surface that has security panels on it. Go to the holding cell with the Morph Ball Spinner and Boost until it rises up. It'll spit you to a slot up above where you need to set a Bomb to activate the second holding cell's Morph Ball slot. Repeat this process and you'll unlock the third holding cell and will release a Metroid Hatcher (like Teri Hatcher, but not so desperate).

Mini-Boss Fight - Metroid Hatcher

MH, as I like to call him, is actually quite easy to defeat. Shoot the bottom each tentacle until all four retract. He will spin and his mouth will open revealing a purple glow. Shoot his mouth and then immediately target his underside. You'll see four Grapple Points, one for each tentacle. Grapple one of the tentacles off. Repeat this process for the remaining tentacles.

After you destroy him activate the final containment tank. You'll be shot up into a rail system. At the end of it Bomb the Morph Ball slot to remove the security panels from the Wall Jump Surface. You'll drop down. Before you leave, activate the same containment tank. This time, as you roll, keep an eye out for a gap in the top of the rail system. When you see it, note the Mag Rail above you. Hold "Z" and Ball Jump up to the rail. Navigate the Mag Rails to the ENERGY TANK (11 of 14). You'll drop down.

Exit this room via the Wall Jump Surface. You'll end up in Transit Station 3-A. Enter the SAVE STATION and then activate the Transit System by scanning the terminal. Hit the hand terminal to bring the Transit to you. Board the Transit Vehicle and ride it to Transit Station 3-B.

Pirate Homeworld - Pirate Command - Transit Station 3-B

Get Past the Acid Rain

Make your way to Command Courtyard. Upon entering, take out the three Assault Pirate Troopers using Hypermode. Approach the terminal and use the Grapple Voltage to lower the large energy shield. Go through the door and make your way to Skyway Access, where the "?" is located.

Upon entering you'll set off alarms and the Skyway security doors will shut. They can only be opened once the Defense System has been disabled. Two Assault Pirate Troopers will attack and then after them, about six Crawltanks. Take them all out and then enter the Morph Ball path on the right that opened when one of the Crawltanks popped out.

After being blasted through this rail system you'll emerge in Defense Access. You've been here before, just on the other side of the blue energy shield in front of you. Ignore the Mag Rail for now and power down the shield using the Grapple Voltage. Go through and note the Phazite Security Gate blocking access to your objective. It says only High Frequency beams can penetrate it. Great. It looks like you're going to need a new weapon.

Head back into the small room with the Mag Rail and follow it to Transit Station 4-A. Activate the Transit system and then ride it.

Pirate Homeworld - Pirate Mines - Transit Station 4-B

Get the Nova Beam

Upon exiting the subway, enter the room in front of you for a SAVE STATION. Exit out and then proceed to Phazon Quarry.

When you enter you'll be attacked by four Assault Troopers; take them out using Hypermode. After they're eliminated head into the side hallway (the orange/red glass room) and activate the Mining Terminal. Touch panel anywhere. You'll get another menu showing two cracked walls. Touch the left wall icon. Then, activate the terminal again and touch the right wall icon.

The second wall that you mined will give you access to a MISSILE EXPANSION (28 of 50). Jump up the ledge and grab it.

Head over to the first wall that you mined, which revealed a Half-Pipe. Morph and use the Half-Pipe to get up the ledge on the left. Head through the door there.

You'll end up in Mine Lift. Rip off the gate with the Grapple and then enter the Lift which is not currently active. Locate the Mag Rail at the back of the lift and use it to drop down into both the left and right Morph Ball slots. In each one, use Boost to deactivate the clamps on the lift. The Lift, and you, will drop down the shaft.

Now at the bottom of the shaft, go through the door.

You'll be in Phazon Harvesting and you'll have to contend with the Phazon Harvester as you make your way up the ramps. You can stun the Harvester using your Plasma Beam by shooting at the blue orb at the bottom of it. With it stunned, run up the ramps. If any of the ramps are destroyed by the Harvester then simply use the Green Ledge on each platform to make your way up. Go through the door at the top.

In this next room, Drill Shaft 1, take out the Jolly Roger Drones while avoiding the green Mining Cannon blasts as you jump the gaps. Head through the door.

You'll enter Main Cavern and in front of you is what you're after, the Nova Beam, however you can't get it yet. Head to the other side of the room, activate the lift, and then ride it down.

Boss Fight - Mining Cannon et al

Okay, this isn't technically a Boss Fight, but it sure feels like one. You'll be in an arena with a central Mining Cannon. The cannon cycles between shooting down a green laser and sucking up the debris. Your goal is to kill an Assault just as the cannon starts to suck. This will cause the dead body to go flying up into the cannon. At this point, four targets will drop down. Shoot at the targets to destroy one of them. Repeat the process.

In practice, the best way to accomplish this is to kill two of the three Assault Troopers using Hypermode. Then, exit out of Hypermode and avoid the third Trooper using the pistons for cover. Wait for the pistons to lower, which means that the cannon is about to suck. At this point, enter Hypermode again and kill the third Trooper. If you kill him while the cannon is still sucking, the body will go flying up into the unit above causing four orange targets (look like trumpets) to lower. Shoot one of the targets and repeat this process for the other three.

Alternatively, you can try to avoid their fire as much as possible. When the laser starts to suck you'll see the Troopers grab onto handrails. Go up to the handrail and shoot the Trooper's hands until his armor breaks and he goes flying.

When all four targets are destroyed, the NOVA BEAM will drop. Grab it and all of the Energy Orbs and Missiles, too.

Nova Beam: The Nova Beam can pass through objects made of Phazite. You'll often use in conjunction with your X-Ray Visor in order to locate targets.

To exit back to the Lift, don your X-Ray Visor and shoot the two yellow dots on the wall through the Phazite. While still wearing the X-Ray Visor, approach the rotation switch and activate it to lower the door. Ride the Lift up.

Backtrack a tad and go through the green Nova Beam door to Phazon Mine Entry. Locate the Phazon door and X-Ray it to see a MISSILE EXPANSION (29 of 30). Shoot the four red dots (hexagons) in the door in the order in which they glow red to unlock the door. Enter, kill the Metroid, and then grab the Missile Expansion.

Head out to Landing Site Charlie, clear the landing pad of the rocks and then call your Ship to you. I'm suggesting this only in order to give you a Save and to resupply your Energy/Ammo. I don't want you to fly anywhere.

Now that you're all rejuvenated and Saved, head back to Main Cavern and unlock the Phazite door across from the Lift (use X-Ray Visor and shoot yellow dot). Continue on to Drill Shaft 2.

X-Ray the Drill Shaft and shoot the red orb between the two yellow sections. This will raise the drill allowing you to drop down into the lower hallway. Head to the green Nova Beam door, go through, and you'll be in Phazon Quarry. Grab the ENERGY CELL (Energy Cell 9) from the wall to open a door. Drop down into the main area, take out the Assault Troopers and then use then use Transit Station 4-B to get back to Command Center.

Pirate Homeworld - Pirate Command - Transit Station 4-A

Disable the Defense System

Finally, you can get through the green Nova Beam door of Defense Access. When you arrive at the Phazite protective shield X-Ray it and shoot each red hexagon until the door opens and then go through the green Nova Beam door.

You'll enter the "?" room. Take out the Shield Trooper and the Turret. Jump up the platforms starting at the Defense System Generator (the central tower). Make your way all the way up, taking out Turrets and another Shield Trooper along the way. At the top locate the control terminal and X-Ray it. Enter the symbols correctly to activate the panel. This will result in three Phazon panels becoming exposed on the generator.

It'll also result in you being attacked by a never-ending stream of Commando Pirates, two at a time. Do the best that you can to avoid them as you use your X-Ray Visor on each of the three Phazon panels. You'll see three balls bouncing around behind each plate. Shoot the three balls to destroy that section of generator.

When all three panels/sections have been destroyed, head all the way back up to the top and enter the Morph Ball slot at the top of the generator. Bomb it to lower the Defense System!

Admiral Dane will radio you and tell you where to meet him, in Skyway Access of course, where the Skyway doors shut on you earlier. It is now marked with a "?".

Meet Up with Admiral Dane

From the top of the generator, drop all the way back down. You can't do anything with the Organic Mass right now so head to the left of it and use the Grapple Voltage on the terminal. This will reveal a Morph Ball path for you. Enter it and roll around to the blue vertical shaft (don't go all the way to the orange shaft). Follow the blue path and you'll emerge in Flux Control.

Use the Grapple on the covered Morph Ball path and enter it. Ride it around and then up the Mag Rail to locate a MISSILE EXPANSION (30 of 50). Continue along the Mag Rail all the way to the end and then drop down. In this small little side room you'll be trapped by a red energy field. Add power to the terminal using the Grapple Voltage. This will cause the energy field to drop and a Lift to become active. It's really of no importance to you, so just ignore it and continue on to the morph ball path that will lead you to Command Courtyard.

Continue on to the "?" and Admiral Dane will talk to you. He'll tell you that you need to protect the Demolition Troopers and that at least four need to survive.

Protect Demolition Troopers

Enter into Transit Station 1104 and power up the terminal to open the door above you and the two side doors for the Demolition team. Enter into Transit Station 0203. Take out the eight or so Troopers and the two Aerotroopers. You'll probably lose about two Demolition Team Members here. That's acceptable. After the area is clear, head up the ramp and go through the door.

You'll end up in Transit Tunnel P68. Double jump up the ledge in front of you and continue along the hall taking out enemies.

Proceed to Transit Station 0204. This is a pretty hectic area. Take out the enemies using any combination of attacks you please. You'll probably lose several more Demolition Team Members here. I was down to 7 at this point.

Head on through to Transit Station 0205. This is where the rubber meets the road, the final room. You'll want to use Hypermode to quickly dispense with enemies until the Berserker comes out. As you know, use your Beam to fire the Berserker's black orbs back at him. As soon as you see the red part of his head exposed, lay into him with Hypermode. This Berserker is quite weak and it won't take more than five or six Hypermode shots to defeat him.

After the Berserker you'll have one more onslaught of Advanced Pirate Troopers. Again, don't be shy with your Hypermode as you need to make sure that at least 4 men survive. When the battle was over, I had 5 men, so it was all good. They'll blow up the locks on the door.

Note, if you save all 12 men you'll get a bonus.

Go up to the hand terminal to the right of the door and activate it. Go through. You'll be in Transit Tunnel P70. Drop down into the delicious blue Phazon and restore your full Energy. Hop back up and then locate and activate the active hand terminal to open the next door (it's a timed door so go quickly). Go through to Transit Station Leviathan. Use the platforms to get up to the Green Ledge and walk forward.

You'll be attacked by a Commander Squadron, consisting of a Pirate Commander and three Pirate Commandos. Use Hypermode and concentrate on the three Commandos first. Once they're dead, use Hypermode on the Commander. If you're having trouble following them, use the X-Ray Visor which also points out a weak spot. There is nothing really tricky here, just keep shooting them.

After they are defeated head back up to the platform with the Green Ledge and activate the control mechanism. This clears a landing Site for your ship. Head down to it and use your Command Visor to call in a Missile Strike to blow open the doors. Your Ship will land. Save and Enter Ship.

Choose to go to Pirate Homeworld Seed.

Pirate Homeworld - Pirate Seed - Landing Site Delta

Head up to the door using the platforms and the Screw Attack. When you get to the vines, use your X-Ray Visor to locate the weak point and shoot them there. Go through the door.

Boss Fight - Omega Ridley

Omega Ridley is actually quite easy. The basic gist is that you're going to shoot him in the mouth just before he breathes fire (or as he's blowing fire) which will stun him allowing access to his chest.

In the first part of the battle, when he's stunned, you'll want to Scan his chest to reveal a Grapple Point. Grapple his chest armor open and then lay into him with Hypermode shots or a Hypermode Missile.

When his health is down to about 1/2 or a little more, he will generate Phazon armor over his chest. You can't penetrate it, but you can shoot the two weak points on either side of it. Again, shoot his mouth to stun him then use your X-Ray Visor to locate each of the two weak points. Use regaler Beam fire to shoot these weak spots (it'll take several goes at it).

In the final stage of the battle his chest will be open for attack but he is more difficult to stun. He'll fly around, charge you, etc., so just wait for that perfect opportunity to shoot his mouth and then shoot him in Hypermode once you have his chest in your sights.

None of his attacks are hard to avoid or do much damage. You can shoot the two large orbs he generates and holds in his hands which will also stun him. You can shoot the fire balls he shoots at you (which will often contain Energy Orbs). Otherwise, you can pretty much jump over or double jump out of the way of the rest of his attacks. When he's flying around just wait for him to return to the ground rather than trying to attack him.

When Omega Ridley is defeated, grab the HYPER GRAPPLE.

Hyper Grapple: The Hyper Grapple allows you to suck or send Phazon energy into creatures. It works in the same way as the Grapple Voltage. In this case, however, you'll have to be in Hyper Mode. Grapple an object and push forward on the Control Stick to send Phazon Energy into the creature. It'll overload and blow up. You can also suck the Phazon energy out of creatures by pulling back on the Control Stick.

Go ahead and test out the Hyper Grapple on the two tentacles that drop down. Send energy into it until each one explodes. Then hit "A" to destroy the Seed.

You'll end up on your Ship and will be told about the Pirate Leviathan Battleship. You need to go there and locate the warp drive. Man, the Aurora Units sure do ask a lot of a girl.
