Directly to the right of where you start is a chest with the Enhancing Divinity Travel Guide. Also, bloom the lily flower for a Traveler's Charm. Continue along the right path, defeat the cursed tree, and then go through the vertical sliding stone door.

Inside this cavern, defeat the cursed tree to your left and then go through the next stone door. Continue along the path (heading east), wall jump up the ledge, and continue into the cavern with the waterfall. Use a lily pad at the base of the ledge across the water so that you can wall jump up the various ledges. Go through the tunnel at the top.

You'll run into a stone ball. You can't do anything with it now, just head down the path.

Egad, man! It's a Bud Ogre, a new enemy. He will fire energy balls at you. Use Slash to deflect an energy ball back at him. This will stun him. At this point you'll see a red circle appear around him. This is to alert you to the fact that you need to use Bloom on him. Do so, thus opening his bud. With the bud exposed, lay into him with your weapon. As he's dying, use Bloom on him to earn a Devil Fang.

Once he's defeated, look to the top of the hill. The round stone is now blue, and therefore must be useful! Push it down the hill and onto the conveniently shaped button. The nearby door will open. Go through.

Here you'll encounter two Bud Ogres. Try to get them both stunned and then concentrate your attacks on one of them. Defeating one of them quickly (rather than working on both a little at a time) makes it much easier then, to deal with the other. Another good technique is to paint a Bomb just after you Bloom open the bud.

When they're defeated, head over to the log and examine it to discover small mushrooms. Paint a sun in the sky to make the mushrooms grow. Jump up the mushroom platforms to the next level.

2F

Blow open the crack in the wall and proceed along the path. Issun will sneeze, causing the path to break away. Simply run forward and you'll be fine. In the next cavern you'll encounter a door with a lock on it, a Lockjaw.

Since you can't proceed, jump off of the bridge/path and fall all the way down to the bottom of this cavern.

1F

Here you'll find a Blockhead blocking a doorway. Slam into him and two red spots will appear on him, thus revealing his weak spots. Paint a dot on each of the two dots in the order in which they appeared. Blockhead will shatter. Note on your map that the door which he was blocking is the way back out to where you entered the ruins to begin with. You don't need to go there now.

In the middle of the nearby circular platform, an Exorcising Arrow will appear. This is the key you need to get through the Lockjaw. Collect it (bite it), and carry it up the ledges and green logs. At the top, the key will automatically go into the Lockjaw. Proceed through the now open door.

2F

Head through this cavern which contains a lily bud and a demon scroll. On the other side, paint in the missing bridge. Cross it and save at the Origin Mirror.

Continue on through the stone door and you'll be in a cavern with three Devil Gates. Clear all three and a mushroom log will appear. Draw a sun to make the mushrooms grow. Hop up the mushroom platforms to the upper path. Follow it to the potato-head statues; the origin of the purple water. Slash, smash, or bomb the statues. The water will turn blue! Open the nearby chest for the Tsuta Ruins Map.

Hop into the waterfall and ride the river. Be sure to create lily pads, or stop off on the shore, every so often so that you don't drown. When you reach the end of the river, note that you are back where you entered the ruins to begin with.

1F

Note the glowing passageway in the middle of the pond (marked on your map with a red circle). Go through it. Inside you'll find three purple patches of grass. Restore each one and a constellation will appear. Fill in the two missing stars to reveal Tsutagami, another monkey god.

He'll bestow upon you a new brush stroke, the Vine Brush Stroke. To use it, draw a line from an opened Konohama Blossom to you. This is essentially a grapple hook and the Konohama Blossoms are grapple points.

Do note that when you are over a Blossom, magic green swirls will come out of it. The game calls this Holy Smoke and the brush will sort of "lock on" to the Blossom when near it. Seeing the Holy Smoke means it's active. When you draw the line to you, you'll see the same green Holy Smoke over you. This means that you have a solid connection.

Using this new skill, work your way from Konohama Blossom to Konohama Blossom, making your way up, up, up. If a particular blossom isn't working for you, look around to see if there is a closer one...or one from which you can get a better angle on the Blossom. At the top, you'll find a ledge. Go to it and then go through the door.

2F

In this large green cavern you'll see a Blossom in front of you. Ignore it and go up the path to the second Blossom. Vine to it and then continue from Blossom to Blossom (note, Blossoms are easiest to spot when you are not in paint mode). At the top, land on the stone structure (a hat of the statue) with the four yellow hooks. Draw a Vine from each of the four Blossoms to each of the four yellow hooks. This will lift the cap off of the stone structure. Jump down into it.

3F

Bomb the many statues and then save at the Origin Mirror.

Proceed along the narrow tunnel and, at the end, open the two treasure chests. Collect the Godhood Tips Travel Guide.

Before you start this battle, make sure that you have increased your Solar Energy (health) meter as much as you can, and if you haven't yet, and you have some, use Gold Dust to enhance you weapons. Head up the stairs and go through the door. You'll pass through a Golden Gate, an ingeniously disguised checkpoint (if you die, you'll restart from here).

Boss Fight - Spider Queen

To defeat the Spider Queen you need to use Vine to draw a vine from any two of the Blossoms to her rear end (which has hooks on it). Once two vines are attached, the rump of the Spider Queen will open you can attack the eyeballs that appear.

To actually do this, from the beginning, start running (either left or right...whichever you feel comfortable). When you are at her side, rather than at her front, you'll be able to see the blue hooks in her rear end. Attempt to draw a vine to one of them (don't forget to move the camera while in drawing mode, as doing so can give you a better view of the hooks). With one hook attached, continue running so that you can get a good angle on another Blossom in order to draw another vine to her. If it isn't working, just keep drawing lines until it attaches (don't draw too far...I found that stopping just before her rear worked well). Also, be sure to look for the green Holy Smoke that appear when you're over the Blossom and when you're over her rear hooks to assure that you have a good connection.

If you don't draw that second vine quickly enough, after about 10 seconds or so, she'll spin thus breaking that first vine you attached. Annoying, but not devasting.

When you do get that second vine attached, the Spider Queen will open up and reveal eight eyeballs. Jump onto one of the Queen's open petals, and attack the eyes with your weapon (Divine Beads...also, if you have it, use Steel Fist Sake to increase your attack power). Jump off the petal before the Queen closes back up.

Repeat this until all of the eyeballs are destroyed (should take you about three or four cycles).

As you're running around her, do keep an eye on her. Every so often a vase-shaped item will pop out of her head. If you slash this she'll become stunned and you can easily draw vines to her. Another good time to vine her is when she climbs up her own web, thus revealing her bum to you.

Her attacks are nothing to worry about, particularly if you stay on the run for the entire fight. If you need to, though, feel free to use any Holy Bones or other health regenerators that you have in your Tools menu.

You'll earn Snarling Beast and, of course, will have rescued Ume (Kokari's dog)

Agata Forest

Main Story Walkthrough

After the fight with the Spider Queen you'll automatically end up in Agata Forest. Kokari will get some gumption and will build that bridge over Taka Pass.

Head there via the path in the SW and you'll eventually meet up with Kokari and Ume...and Susano, who comes screaming down the river and ruins everything.

Once in the river rapids, you'll have 3:00 to attach vines to each of the six hooks on the log. You'll pass by Blossoms on the banks on either side of the river. Draw a vine from a Blossom to any one of the hooks. Repeat this a total of six times to stop the log.

If you're having trouble with this, it's one of two things: either the Blossoms are going by too quickly for you to see them, or, the vines aren't attaching. To solve the first problem, just enter and exit your brush screen (by quickly tapping and release the button that does that) so that you're essentially pausing and restarting the game in rapid succession. When you see a Blossom on the bank, use it.

To answer the second part, the vines not attaching, as noted twice earlier, be sure to look for the magic green Holy Smoke that come out of your brush when you're over a Blossom and then also, when you've correctly drawn the line over a hook. This means that you have a solid connection.

After all six hooks are hooked, the log will shoot through the air and form a bridge for you! (This is what Waka prophesized as "a log and big thrills.")

Jump up and cross over the bridge (log). On the other side, open the treasure chest for the Ink Bullet Tips Travel Guide.

Keep going and you'll soon be in Taka Pass.

Taka Pass

Main Story Walkthrough

Head forward and talk with the Merchant. Buy/Sell whatever you'd like. Save at the Origin Mirror.

Continue along the path and you'll soon see a cracked wall on the left. Blow it open and go through the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel you'll meet up with Waka again. Fantastic.

Boss Fight - Tao Master Waka

Waka really hasn't changed. Defeat him the same way, by Slashing back his projectiles back at him. This time, however, feel free to draw a Bomb on him when he's stunned. I recommend sticking with the Divine Beads as well here, as you main weapon.

After the battle, Waka asks if you know where to find the Serpent Crystal and shares with you another prophecy, "a DOG-gone difficult quest." Um, didn't we just do a dog-gone quest, what with finding Ume and all? Whatever.

Head up the wooden walkway and follow the path all the way to the broken bridge near the guardian sapling. Paint in the missing part of the bridge and then Bloom the sapling.

Head back down to the Origin Mirror. To the SW of it is a Devil Gate; clear it.

Head back to where you entered Taka Pass and talk to the Tea Master. He is missing a Teacup; seems the moles have taken it.

Head west, toward the top of the river, and you'll soon run into the Moles. The Molster Leader, Moley, will challenge you. Oh no you dinnit!

There are a number of mole holes in this area. Wait for Moley (the one with the blue hat and scarf) to pop out of one of the holes. When he does, Tackle him (charge attack). Repeat this a total of three times and you'll earn the Teacup. "Bite" it and carry it to the Tea Master and you'll be rewarded with the Golden Mushroom.

Head all the way to the west side of the map (take the path over the bridge and contine along it) and locate the Devil Gate. Clear it.

Once cleared, turn around and run east, keeping the path to your left. You'll pass some large rocks and eventually reach a dried up spring. Speak to the Spring Girl, who is upset that her Mermaid Spring is dry. Clear the nearby Devil Gate to revive it.

Talk with the Spring Girl again to learn that if you toss a Mermaid Coin into the spring you can use it to warp to another Mermaid Spring, that's right, these are warp points.

Before you head to Kusa Village (there's a certain windmill that needs investigating), I recommend going to the Merchant and stocking up. Also, save at the nearby Origin Mirror. When you're ready, head up the path to Kusa Village by taking the path leading south.

Kusa Village

Main Story Walkthrough

Enter Kusa village and you will find, surprise, a Merchant and an Origin Mirror. Use them if you need to.

Notice the red markings on your body are missing. You also can't use your brush. Something odd is afoot.

Head west along the winding path and make your way up to Princess Fuse. Talk to her and you'll be launched into battle against two green imps and a crazy kite guy. You still don't have your powers, so just use normal attacks, remembering that you can jump and attack to get the kite guy.

After the battle, you'll regain your powers and officially meet Pricess Fuse, princess of the Gale Shrine (the windmill). Repeatedly talk to her until she gives you the Canine Tracker which will aid you in finding the five Satomi Canine Warriors, protectors of the Gale Shrine.

The Canine Tracker is essentially a little radar. It'll float alongside of you and emit a chirping sound. When you are near a Canine Warrior, it'll beep more frequently. When it's found one, it'll leave you and float above the Canine Warrior.

Below are the locations of the five Canine Warriors. You'll need meat to feed them, but don't worry about buying it as there are jars near each of the Canines which often contain meat.

1) Ko: Head back down the path until you see a Blossom (it's to the left of a ladder). Vine up to it and head along this upper path until you see a small cave entrance on the right (if you reach the chest you've gone too far). Jump up to it and follow the cave to the Canine Warror. After talking with him, open your Fan Menu and choose "Meat" from your "Tools" menu. This will feed the Canine Warrior.

2) Rei: From Susano, who is on the left side of the inn (the large building at the base of the village), head through the tunnel. You'll soon see, on the left, a ladder leading up to an area with a clover. Wall jump up there. Here you will find Komuso (that is, if you beat the first time trial in Kimiki Village). You'll also see a nearby cracked wall. Bomb it and you'll find Rei inside.

Komuso Time Trial #2
Please note that as before, talking to Komuso will launch you into battle, after which he'll rate you. I was able to finish the fight in 20 seconds, which earned me the "Well done" from him and 15 Praise.

3) Chi: Leave the ledge where you found Rei and continue down the path, past Mr. Bamboo. To the left of his house is a large piece of Bamboo. Slash it and you'll find Chi sleeping inside of it.

4) Shin: Just to the west of the Merchant you'll spy a purple patch of grass. Restore it to reveal Shin.

Issun will chime in and tell you to head back to Princess Fuse. Hmm, that's only four dogs, though?

5) Tei: When you arrive back at Princess Fuse's house, you'll find Tei, the fifth Canine Warrior. He'll challenge you to a fight. Go ahead and accept.

Canine Warrior Fight - Tei

Tei is pretty harmless, particularly if you purchased the Fleetfoot skill back at the Dojo. You'll know Tei is about to attack when he howls and you see a light emitting from his neck. Get ready to use Fleetfoot to dodge his attacks (or just stay away from him, or use your shield). After his little series of attacks, he'll be momentarily tired. Use that time to attack him, either with your weapon or by drawing a bomb.

After the fight, Princess Fuse will inform you that there are another three Canine Warriors to find. Oy! She marks each one on the map for you. They are all outside the village.

Before you leave the village, enter the inn and go upstairs. Tackle (knock down) the screens of the right side room. Inside you'll find Haruka who will give you Haruka's Revenge Contract (Taka Pass Wanted List). You can find this in your Fan Menu under Log Book >> Wanted List. Scroll to the right to see it. (Note, if Haruka isn't there, knock on the back door, then exit and return.)

You may also want to visit the Merchant. Definitely buy the Pinwheel (to give to the Tea Master's Customer), and, if you can afford it, buy the Infinity Judge. When you're all set, head back to Taka Pass.

Taka Pass

Open your map and note the red circle just north of the Sasa Sanctuary gate. Head there, and despite it looking like a huge wall that's blocking you from entering, you can go through the wall. To do this, you must literally run through the archway/gate near the wall. If you fail to do so, the cliff wall won't disappear for you. Do so to enter Sasa Sanctuary.

Sasa Sanctuary

Head forward and you'll be schooled on the Sparrow Clan. The leader Great Jamba won't let you through until you find his daughter. Head back to Taka Pass.

Taka Pass

Main Story Walkthrough

Back in Taka Pass, follow your map to the red circle and talk to Sasa Traveler, the man pushing up against the invisible wall leading to Sasa Sanctuary (note, if he disappears as you approach him, try doing so from the right side). Sasa Traveler will tell you about one of the young Sparrow girls who may have gone near that nasty old couple (Mr. and Mrs. Cutter).

It should be night out for you at this point. If it's not, for some reason, wait for night.

Head down to the Cutter's house, to the east of the Sasa Sanctuary gate. Head to the back of the house and walk up the beam/log to the exposed second floor. Bomb the floor where you see the planks and drop down. Head over to Mrs. Cutter. Press and hold the "Bite" button to drag her over to the moonlight (again, it must be night for you to do this).

Egad, man! The Cutters are actually evil bird people! You'll be taken to a battle arena with them. The easiest way to defeat them is to slash them while in midair, thus causing them to fall to the ground. While on the ground, slash them. If they stand up and block you with their swords, slash them again and they'll reveal their chests, giving you an opportunity for more solid slashing.

Note, you may also wish to use Snarling Beast as a shield (sub weapon) the moment they slam down from the air. This will also do some damage.

After they're defeated, Chun, the missing Sparrow Girl, will be freed. She'll now tag along with you. Make your way toward Sasa Sactuary. Pass through the invisible wall and continue forward...

Sasa Sanctuary (Sparrow Inn)

Main Story Walkthrough

Now that Chun is returned to her dad, the gate will open and you'll be allowed access to the Sanctuary, which is really an Inn. Go inside.

Go up the first set of stairs and enter the alcove, which is actually an elevator. It'll take you up to see Jamba. In this room will be a multitude of treasure chests; your reward for rescuing Chun. Open them all. Jamba will mention the hot springs. Head back downstairs, to the first floor.

Head down the right hallway and you'll end up in the Sanctuary Baths, or Hot Springs, as it were. Talk to the Bath Attendant several times until Mr. Bamboo shows up. He will claim to be able to help locate the hot spring.

To do this, you need to help him in a Dig-Dug inspired game. Read the directions to get an idea of what to do and then follow the below steps.

1) Bloom the Bud to the right for extra time and paint a Bomb on top of the zig-zag rock to the left of the Bud. Mr. Bamboo will drop down.

2) Slash the dark brown rock below so that Mr. Bamboo falls down into the pool of water.

3) While he's climbing out of the water, Slash the dark brown rock to the right. Bloom the Bud that falls for more time.

4) Paint a bomb where that bud just was. You'll fall down and see a pot-of-gold rock to the right. Ignore it, and Tackle (smash) the rock on the left.

5) This gives you access to a dark brown rock. Slash it.

6) Tackle the next rock to the left (it will require two tackles).

7) Slash the dark brown rock under the rock you just tackled. Drop down.

8) Paint a bomb where you are. It'll allow you to drop down to another pool of water.

9) Tackle the rock to the right until it breaks. Bloom the Bud to the right for more time.

10) Slash the dark brown rock under that Bud. Mr. Bamboo will walk over and drop down to what is the lowest level.

11) Dig where Mr. Bamboo has stopped and where you see the little sparklies appear.

The spring, it's revived! Yay!

A constellation will appear. Fill in the missing stars to awaken Nuregami, the snake god, er, god of water. He'll bestow upon you the Waterspout Brush Stroke. Of course, you'll immediately get a chance to try it out.

Waterspout Brush Stroke

Draw a line from the pool of water to the sparrow who is on fire. The water will leap from the pool and hit the sparrow.

Note the blue swirls, blue Holy Smoke, that emenate from your brush letting you know that your brush is properly positioned, just as with the green Holy Smoke and the Vine Brush Stroke.

Waterspout also allows you to create vertical streams of water, which can serve as platforms. You can draw these at any Power Spring, which you'll notice because of the little waves of water emanating up, out of the water. Upon so doing all you need to do is swim into it and it'll raise you up.

Finally, Waterspout can also be used to put out flaming treasure chests so long as there is a nearby water source.

Do so and you'll be carried up to a clover. Neato. Hop back down and talk with Mr. Bamboo, who needs to get through the gate that is controlled by the large bamboo tube. Draw a line from the pool of water to the opening of the large bamboo tube above (look for the blue Holy Smoke on your brush tip to let you know you are over the end of the bamboo tube). It'll tilt down and open the gate. Go through.

Head through the tunnel and up the stairs. Continue up the path until you reach a crying sparrow on the right. Talk to her repeatedly until she tells you her name, Crybaby Tai. It appears that Take, a dog of hers, is missing. I wonder if this has anything to do with a certain missing canine warrior? Hmm? The suspense is killing me!

After talking with her, you'll see the Canine Tracker reappear. Head up to the bamboo forest. Before you do anything, head to the back of the forest and on the left, near the hares, you can dig up a hidden chest containing a Golden Peach which instantly fills your Astral Pouch.

Go back and face the large bamboo trees, the tracker will leave you and hover near one of the trees. For me, it was the middle tree. Slash down whatever tree is indicated for you (wait for the light to slash) to reveal Take, who is really known as Canine Warrior Gi.

Canine Warrior Fight - Gi

Gi will challenge you to a fight. Much like Tei, the only other Canine Warrior you fought, Gi will howl and glow before he attacks. Jump around or use Fleetfoot to avoid the attacks.

Just after he does a charge attack, he'll pause is momentarily vulnerable. I recommend drawing a bomb on him just as he pauses. You can also attack him normally, and I recommend the Divine Beads due to the range of their attack (you can hit him from pretty far away).

If you need and/or want to, feel free to use an Exorcism Slip on him (via your Tools menu). This will stun him and make him easy to attack.

After he's defeated you'll gain the Duty Orb from him, which allows him to stay behind and not have to go to Princess Fuse. Open your Fan Menu and feed him.

Head back down to the bath house and Mr. Bamboo will talk to you. He'll give you a Mermaid Coin. This is what you need to activate Mermaid Springs (warp points).

Mermaid Springs

Selecting a Mermaid Coin from your Tools Menu when you are near a spring will activate that spring as a warp point. You'll know it's a warp-able spring because you'll see magical rings and sparklies coming up from the water, indicating its use. You can warp between springs to get to various places very quickly.

That's all there is to do here.

Open the Map in the Fan Menu and "Zoom Out" to see that the next red circle is in Agata Forest. If you like, you may go ahead and warp there using a Mermaid Spring. However, there are a few things you'll miss if you don't take the long route. Head back to Taka Pass.
