There are a few things to do here if you like (see below). When you're ready head along the NW path and enter North Ryoshima Coast by talking to the soldier on the right side of the gate. You'll automatically show him your Border Key.

If you like, here are some things to do: You can go ahead and clear up Masu's Monster Manifest (Ryoshima Wanted List). Here are the locations of the Demon Scrolls (I'm not putting names down as they are random...the locations are all you need to know). Remember, this must be at night and I also recommend that you use Fireburst (draw the infinity sign) liberally:

1) West side of beach, near Animal Lover.

2) On beach, north of sunken ship.

3) Near Ankoku Bell (at bottom of stairs to Ankoku Temple).

4) On the east side, on north path toward the guardian sapling. Near the rock platform that you can dig to fight the spider.

5) Near the Origin Mirror on the east side.

To collect the reward of Gold Dust head back to the restaurant in Sei-an City during the day and talk to Masu.

You may also wish to race (and tackle) Hayate, just like you did Ida the Mailman back at Shinshu field.

Finally, you can get a Sun Fragment by fighting a huge spider (like the huge spider boss you fought oh so long ago). To get there, head to the east and then go north along the path up toward the guardian sapling. On the left you'll see a raised rock platform you can dig (if you bought the dig enhancement at the Dojo). Drop down into the spider's lair and fight him just as you did the boss who looks just like him. The only difference is that you need to attach three vines to his rear to make him open up.

N. Ryoshima Coast

Main Story Walkthrough

Head forward and Waka will talk to you. Continue a few more steps and you'll be attacked by a new enemy, the Earth Nose. Use whatever you like...Mist works well as does Fireburst and Bombs.

Head to the west shore of the east section of map and you'll find three bullies beating on a guy. This guy is Urashima the fisherman. Tackle (charge) him to wake him up. He tells you about the Orca emmissary for the Dragon Palace and points out a pier (behind the small hut). Good to know.

Before you go onto that pier, clear the Devil Gate in the east and stock up on Fish (have at least 9 in your possession).

Go out onto the pier and draw a sun in the sky. Orca will appear. Jump to him. He will tell you that you need to prove your worth, so it's off to Catcall Island. Meow!

You'll need to steer him there...it's the big island to the east with what looks like a scratching post coming out of it. Rapidly tap the "Faster" button to speed up. When you get near it, locate the grassy ramp leading down to the water and choose "Listen" to get off the whale.

Catcall Tower

Main Story Walkthrough

Head up the path, save at the Origin Mirror and then go through the cave entrance.

Fight the Poltergeist (use Mist, bombs, whatever) and then open the treasure chest for the Mark of Kabegami Travel Guide. Take a look at the tower and you'll see many paw print symbols. Attempt to wall jump up the tower and you'll stick to the wall. Using this method, work you way all the way up to the top of the tower.

At the top, jump up and you'll find a Mermaid Spring. Head up the spiral stairs and then go out the narrow extension ledge. You'll see a kitty. Feed it some Fish. Lo and behold, it's a constellation! Fill in the four missing stars to reveal the cat god, Kabegami, god of walls (um, okay). She'll grant you the Catwalk Brush Stroke.

Catwalk Brush Stroke

This brush stroke allows you to climb walls. You can only do so at cat statues, however. You probably remember that you've seen cat statues all over Nippon.

To perform the feat, draw a line straight up from a cat statue. You'll know you're over it when you see the pink smoke come out from your brush. Paw prints will appear on the wall. You can then climb that wall the same way you did the tower.

Go ahead and give this a try on the cat statute that is shown to you. When play resumes, draw it again and then climb up the wall. At the back of the huge cat statue, go out the narrow platform to open a chest with a Sun Fragment. That's all there is to do up here. Head back down the spiral stairs and leap off the tower.

Exit back out to Orca and hop on. There's some explorin' that you need to do!

N. Ryoshima Coast - Exploring the High Seas

Main Story Walkthrough

Yeargh! Shiver me timbers. Time to do some exploring! Before you attempt to locate the Dragon Palace, you may want to take some time to explore the various islands in the area.

Open your map and take note that you are on Catcall Tower island, in the east. We're going to swim in an arc around to each of the islands from east to west (right to left), with each island numbered in that order. Keep in mind that as you're swimming, you can pull up your map to see where you're going in real-time.

Island 1 - Not much here. A hidden chest, a Demon Scroll, and an iron boulder you can break yet.

Island 2 - This island appears in the shape of a gourd on your map. This island has a flaming chest, a Demon Scroll, and an underground cavern. Bomb the crack in the ground and then fall in. Bloom some trees and then approach the Divine Spring. You can make an offering if you like. Throwing in 40,000 Yen three times over will conjure up Bakugami, who will bestow upon you the Cherry Bomb 2 Brush Stroke. That's 120,000 Yen for an enhanced bomb. If you like and/or use the bomb frequently, then it's definitely worth it. If you're not a fan of the bomb, leave it be. If this purchase is going to leave you with less than 60,000 Yen, don't do it. I had over 300,000 Yen when I got here, so it was a no brainer for me.

You'll also be able to open a chest for the Cherry Bomb 2 Travel Guide. Cherry Bomb 2 allows you to paint two bombs at once. Very nice. Note, you have to draw one, leave the drawing screen, and then draw another. You can't draw two at the same time...the skill simply allows for you to paint a second one while the first one is yet to go off.

That it here.

Island 3 - Slash the boulder that is slashable and then drop down into the underground cavern it reveals. Again, bloom some trees and then approach the Divine Spring. This time, offer 20,000 Yen three times over (60,000 total) for the Slash 2 Brush Stroke. This gives you a more powerful slash and allows you to slash all of those iron boulders (un-slashable boulders) that you've see around Nippon (including one on this island and one back on island 1).

Open the chest for the Power Slash 2 Travel Guide. Exit back up to the island and use your new power on the iron boulder to reveal Clover that gives you 40 Praise...woohoo!

Island 4 - This island has a chest with a Golden Peach and a Spider Grotto (2/3) (dig the rock platform). If you want to fight the spider, drop down through the hole and do so. Remember that you need to hook three vines to his rear and that Slash works great once he's open. You'll earn a Sun Fragment for your troubles.

Island 5 - This is the little dot of an island to the north of island 4. There is only a clover here.

Island 6 - This is the large island all the way in the west. Head out onto the dock and talk to the Fisherman. You should have the Marlin Rod by now. If you don't go back to the mainland and buy it from the Merchant. If you do have the Marlin Rod, the Fisherman will steal it from you. Talk to him again and fish with him. The third fish you catch will be the Marlin. You need to reel it in three times to catch it. It's a pesky fish. My best advice is to keep your eye on the fish, not the meter. As soon as that fish changes direction, pull the opposite way on control stick.

After you reel in the Marlin, the Fisherman will be on his way to Umi, the chef. Hop back on Orca and sail back to the mainland of N. Ryoshima Coast. Head to Umi's Restaurant, the building in the north central part of the map. Enter the restaurant, head to the right and talk to Umi. When you have the opportunity to draw, do so by paininting three parallel horizontal lines (as shown on the back wall). This will earn you the Whirlwind Brush Stroke. Open the chest for the Galestorm Tech Travel Guide.

Okay, it's time to move on with the story.

N. Ryoshima Coast - Watcher's Cape - Unlocking the Dragon Palace

Main Story Walkthrough

Open your map. Locate the little cat paw icon in the west (it's near the inlet). Head to it and you'll see that it's a Cat Statue. Use Catwalk on it to climb the cliff wall.

Once on the plateau, fight the new enemy, Blue Cyclops by lighting his pipe with fire whenever you see it go out. After he's toast, head over to the Watcher. He tells you about the whirlpool galaxy. Talk to him again and he'll tell you that he wants to see a shooting star. Paint a single star in the sky, paint a dot, (it'll do the shooting part on its own). Hazaa! His wish comes true and the whirlpool galaxy appears in the sky.

Head out along the path and step onto the blue whirlpool symbol on the ground. You need to make the galaxy spin. Use Galestorm three times (in the same direction each time) to really get it spinning. It'll open up a whirlpool in the sea.

You're going to need Orca to swim there, so head back to the dock where you originally found him (he's an icon on the map as well) and swim with him into the whirlpool.

Dragon Palace

Main Story Walkthrough

Head forward, save if you wish, and then talk to the guards. They'll eventually let you in. Enter and you'll probably notice that this place has a very similar layout to Sasa Sanctuary. Head up the stairs and enter the elevator. Go up and talk with Otohime, leader of the Dragonians. She tasks you with finding the Dragon Orb, which is inside the belly of the Water Dragon. Keep talking to her and tell her you'll help. She gives you the Shell Amulet.

Exit out and go down the elevator. Head back down the stairs and go down the right (east) hallway. Go through the door and you'll find yourself amongst some dancing ladies. Dig the rock platform in the middle and tell the Dancer that you'll help her.

This is yet another digging game. And, although it's not that difficult, it is long. The difference here is that you start on the bottom, have to work your way up to the Dancer, and then dig down again with her. I'm not going to be as specific in this description as I have been in the past digging games as it's really not that tough.

Do note that one skill you're going to have to learn well is the rebound wall jump (my name for it). This is where you jump at a wall and then push off that wall to jump up and in the other direction. This is as opposed to doing a noraml wall jump that takes you straight up. To do it, simply push the control stick in the direction you want to go after you jump but BEFORE you wall jump. That is, jump at a wall, while in the air push the control stick to where you want to go next, and then hold it there as you hit the wall and do the wall jump. You'll jump from the wall in the direction you're pushing.

Here's the break down to complete this digging puzzle:

1) Head all the way to the right and Slash the slash rock. Jump up and, while in the air, tackle (dash), to break the rock to the right. Continue up in this manner.

2) When you get to the point where you see the second block with the different color circle in the middle of it (this is the tan block with the darker brown middle and you passed one already on the way up), DO NOT break this block or you won't be able to get up any higher.

3) Jump up onto that tan/brown block and continue up using that rebound wall jump described above.

4) Just keep heading up to the top. When you get there, head left and you'll find the Dancer. If you get here and have about 3:00 left, you'll be fine.

5) There's no trick to going down except, well, going down. You will twice have to use Galestorm to get her over pink spike blocks, but otherwise, just go down.

Also, Bloom and Buds that you see along the way. Two should be plenty.

6) When you're down at the bottom, dig where she stops.

Talk to her back up at the top and she and the dancers will run around the spring, attempting to get the swirly back. When you have the opportunity to draw, do so and paint a swirl in the direction they're running. Nuregami will show up and grant you the Waterspout (Fountain) Skill. Open the chest for the Waterspout Tech 1 Travel Guide. Essentially, you can now draw a swirl in any Mermaid Spring instead of using Mermaid Coin. You can travel for free. Whatever.

Now that that little side quest is done, head along the west hallway and go through the door. Here you'll see an opening in the floor with the Water Dragon's mouth sticking up. Jump into the mouth of the Water Dragon.

Inside the Dragon

Main Story Walkthrough

Head forward opening clam shells as you go. Feel free to fight the Demon Scrolls as they are a pain in the rear to avoid. At the end of the path, jump down and into the water. Head north and you'll find an Exorcising Arrow on a platform. Use the power spring along the east side of the water (draw a line up from it) to shoot you up to the east path.

Continue north, save at the Origin Mirror, and then approach the Lockjaw which will open because you have the Exorcising Arrow. Go through the now-open gate.

You'll see a "glass ball" (the Dragon Orb) suspended in some muscles. You can't do anything with it yet, so head along the east path.

You'll soon arrive in a room with red liquid dripping down from the fleshy mass in the ceiling. Draw a line from any of the three red liquid platforms to the fleshy mass in the ceiling. Do this a total of three times and it'll bust open, thus flooding the cavern.

Head back to the Dragon Orb room by drawing a Lily Pad and using Galestorm to push you along (if you're in the red liquid you'll take damage). When you get there, step onto the island and draw a line from the red liquid to the web that is holding the Dragon Orb. Do this a total of three times and you'll receive the Dragon Orb.

Boss Fight - Tube Fox

There are nine of these foxes in total, and three will be attacking at any given moment. The biggest threat is an attack where they drain ink from you. You'll know this is happening when you see a line of black ink running from you to a fox.

To prevent this from happening, and to make quick work of these pests in general, I recommend that you use an Inkfinity Stone. With it activated, repeatedly use Mist to slow time. In this state, the foxes are open to attack and will easily be defeated. It took me two Inkfinity Stones to accompslish this (I had eight total, so it wasn't a big deal to use them).

Also note that this fight is a great way to earn Devil Fangs. As each one dies and rises into the air, slash it to produce two Devil Fangs. Since there are nine foxes in total, that means you can earn 18 Devil Fangs in one fight. BooYa!

You'll earn the Fox Rods.

After the battle, you have 3:00 to get out. You should have no problem with this, particularly with the handy arrow that points the way. Simply backtrack and if you fall into the water, don't panic. Just look for a power spring and draw it up to shoot yourself up.

Back on the shore, you'll meet King Wada, who was really the Dragon. Wowza. He'll tell you a little bit about the Fox Rods and asks that your return the Dragon Orb to the Queen Otohim. Rao will show up and you'll give her the Foxrods.

When play resumes, enter the Dragon Palace and go up to the Queen. During the cutscene you'll learn that Rao is in trouble. She's at Ankoku Temple in Ryoshima Coast. Head there.

Ryoshima Coast - Ankoku Temple

Main Story Walkthrough

Ankoku Temple is conveniently marked with a red circle on your map. When you arrive there, you'll see a ghost of Rao going up the stairs. Follow her up and then behind the temple building. She'll go through a cliff wall; follow her through. Jump into the well. This is a secret passage to Sei-An City.

Sei-An City - Rao and Himiko Palace

Main Story Walkthrough

The well passage leads to Hamiki Palace. Enter the palace, ride the elevator up, and head through the lava to where you met Queen Himiko.

Boss Fight - Evil Rao

Rao was not much of a challenge. I recommend that you use Mist to slow time and attack her. You may also want to try to bomb her while time is slowed. You shouldn't need to use an inkfinity stone here, just rely upon your normal supply.

As far as attacks go, well, if you use Mist repeatedly you don't really have to worry about them. However, her attacks can be avoided by simply running around or jumping.

When the fight is done, the Dark Lord reveals his true form. You'll also be told that Oni Island can be found off the NW coast of N. Ryoshima Coast (Watcher's Cape where you made the galaxy spin). You need to head there by sun down. If you don't make it, you'll get another shot at it, but do be hasty.

N. Ryoshima Coast - Getting to Oni Island

Climb up to Watcher's Cape using the cat statue. Follow the path out to where you made the galaxy spin earlier and you'll find Queen Otohime who will proceed to morph into a Water Dragon. She'll serve as a bridge for you to cross to Oni Island.

Oni Island

Main Story Walkthrough

Head forward and you'll see a lava spring. Because you have the Fire Tablet equipped (you've had it equiped since you first visited Queen Himiko) lava acts just like water. So, this is like a power spring in that you can draw a line straight up and ride it up. Do so and go forward, passing through the Golden Gate.

Jump down into the lava pool and swim from rock to rock. When you reach the dead end, swim west, making your way to the fire power spring (there is also a Blossom here that you can use to get a Pearl if you wish). From the power spring, jump to solid ground and head east. You'll encounter two new enmemies, a Red Ogre and Blue Ogre. Simply use Mist to slow time and attack them from behind.

Go through the large wooden gates.

1F Next to the Origin Mirror is an Imp Merchant. He has the Infinity Judge and the Seven Strike for sale. Since I had already purchased the Infinity Judge a while back, I went ahead and bought the Seven Strike. I'm not a big fan of it as a Primary Weapon, but I do like it as a Sub-Weapon. If you don't have a lot of Yen, don't bother. If you have money to burn, go for it (I had 316,000 Yen).

The only way you can go right now is west, so head down that hallway and go through the door on the right (there is a lightning door you can't get through yet farther down the hall). Fight the two wheels (slow time and attack or do whatever you want). After they're toast, grab the Exorcsim Key, ignore the sparkly bridge, and head back out to the main room.

Head into the east hallway and the Lockjaw will be broken. Head along the hall and down the stairs.

B2F - The Labyrinth of Torment

Go up to the floating scroll, Tobi. You need to race him to the gate. Step into him to start the race, use Mist to slow time, and then tackle (dash) your way forward to beat him.

You'll now be in the needle room. You need to jump from platform to platform to get to the other side of the room (diagonal from Tobi). Note that the platforms collapse if you're on them for more than a few seconds. Again, slow time, and double jump your way to the gate.

Head up the stairs.

1F

Use Catwalk on the cat statue to get up to the ledge and then jump across the platforms, moving down the hallway. You'll see Tobi again.

This time you have to make your way down the hallway, from platform to platform. If you fall, you'll need to use the cat statue to get back up, but the key is to stay on the platforms so you don't have to use the cat statue at all. As before, use Mist and dash to be as fast as you can.

Tobi's next challenge is through the Passage of Saws. This is quite difficult. The key is to be efficient and only jump as high as necessary, that it, only single jump over the low saws (don't waste time double jumping them). Also, there are two sets of saws that you should be able to double jump and dash over, so that you clear them in one go of it. When you get to the long hallway, dash like crazy to the end. Take a quick breather after you've made it and open the chest for some Laquerware.

The next challenge is the Passage of Demonic Wheels. Using Mist to slow time makes passing between the wheels much easier. There is no need to dash for this one, just run. As long as you don't hit any wheels, you'll be in high gear by the end. Jump up the steps and go through the gate. Open the chest for the Exorcism Slip M.

Up next, the Chamber of Delay. Enter and you'll have to fight three enemies. Use Slash on them repeatedly as well as beating on them normally (I'm using the Exorcism Beads as my primary weapon). If you defeat them quickly enough, you'll be able to get through the gate.

Hop up the stairs (you'll now be on the third floor) and you'll come to the Heat Rays of Hell room. This isn't that difficult if you utilize the side areas on the right. Note that you have to double jump in and out of these areas as bamboo spears pop up to act as fences. So, from the start...

1) Double jump forward and to the right so that you end up next to a Statue. Move past it and double jump back to the main area, landing on one of the safe platforms.

2) You'll see a green button on a platform ahead, and to the left a tad. Slash the Statue at the end, and then go to that green button. Stand on it and it'll create additional platforms for you. Ignore those for now.

3) Slash the same statue at the end, and then move forward a bit. Double jump over the bamboo fence, to the right, landing near a treasure chest.

4) Double jump back over to the left, landing on a safe platform. There is a statue just forward from you. Ignore it, and simply double jump to the next forward area on the right. Again, you'll be next to a Staute. Pass by it.

5) From here, you can see the end of the path/walkway. Jump to the walkway and go through the opening in the fence. That's it.

Go through the open gate and you'll have to fight a Blue Cyclops. Remember to continually light his pipe to make him vulnerable. After he's toast, head through the screen doors, save at the Origin Mirror and head through the next screen door.

You'll pass a Lockjaw on the right and will meet up with Tobi. He introduces you to the Passage of Needles. There is nothing tricky here, just beat him and then bomb the cracked wall.

You'll end up outside, on the roof. Above you is an Exorcism Arrow. To get it, head right and use Catwalk from the cat statue to get up there. With Arrow in mouth, head back down and go back to the Lockjaw you passed a moment ago. Go through the now-open door.

Head all the way down the hall, opening the chest if you want, and go through the door at the end.

You'll be outside. To your left is a lightning door and in front of you is a large tiger statue with a bow on its back. It's missing an arrow. Paint in an arrow for it. A constellation will appear. Paint in the four missing stars. You'll meet Gekigami, the god of lightning, who bestows upon you the Thunderstorm Brush Stroke. Much like the Waterspout and Vine strokes, this one has you draw a line from lightning in the sky to the place you want to use it. In this case, draw a line from the lightning to the lightning door and it'll open.

Go through the door and you'll encounter a raised bridge. Use Thunderstorm to draw a line from the clouds to the lightning rod (my name for the green pole). The bridge will actually rotate. Run up it and jump to the next part of the path, using a little dash action if necessary.

Go to the end of the path and through the door on the left. Pass through the Golden Gate and you'll see a lightning chest. Look above it to find a lightning point. Draw a line from the lightning point to the lightning chest. It'll open and give you an Exorcism Slip L.

Bomb the crack in the floor and jump down.

1F

Head west and "Bite" the lightning key. With it in your possession, all of the gold capacitors will be activated, creating a pathway for you. Head east using the capacitor platforms to get up. You'll reach a lightning door. Draw a line from the lightning key to the lightning rod to open it.

Go through and fight the enemy by drawing a line from the lighting key to him. Do this three times and he'll be defeated.

It's now time for some more Labyrinth fun. This time it's the Sliding Doors of Hell. This is a maze. It's not that hard and you are free to explore it for a variety of treasures. The key is to simply keep checking your map and head south. When you get to a cracked wall, bomb it to proceed.

Cross over the capacitor bridge and, lo and behold, look where you are! You're back near where you began. Head through the west lightning door if you want a Pearl, but otherwise, head to the central room and approach the keyhole pedestal. The lightning key will automatically go in and the gate in front of you will open. Before you go through, save at the Origin Mirror. Then, go through.

Open the two lightning chests if you like and proceed along the hall. You'll see a huge statue with a large, 9-pronged, lightning sword. Look above and to the right of the statue to see a lightning point. Draw a line from it to the sword. The statue will disappear, revealing a staircase for you to go down. Do so.

B1F

Go into the hallway and an alarm will sound. There are five eyeball sentries. You can slash four of them at once, and then turn to slash the fifth. This will shut down the alarm and allow you to proceed.

1F to 4F - Working your way up

You'll end up in a side-view area. Go to the left and activate the lightning rod. The rotating platform will rotate allowing you to use it to get up to the upper ledge. Use the next rotating platform to get up again.

In this passageway you'll pass a keyhole pedestal and then come upon two rotating platforms (one with spikes) and a cat statue. Draw a line straight up from the statue and use it to climb past the spike platform. Jump to the normal rotating platform and on up.

Navigate the next area with the three rotating platforms by quickly jumping from one to the other. Jump up to the ledge from which you can see the lightning key. There is a gate blocking you. Simply Slash it and then jump up and grab the key.

Note, there are two treasure chests you can get to from here. One, jump up and go through the hidden passageway on the left wall. Work your way to the chest (you'll need to jump over a trap door). When you see it, dash over the trap door in front of it to get to it. The other chest, from the key, jump up and use the Blossoms above to get up to a passage on the right.

Whenever you're ready, grab the lightning key and head back down. Go to the right and the key will go into the keyhole pedestal, thus opening the passageway above the pedestal. Work your way to the vertical shaft of rotating wheels and jump up through the opening in each one. At the top, head right and go through the door.

After the load you'll find yourself in a room with laser statues. On your right is an Origin Mirror; save. On your left, you'll see a small red ledge and a wooden staircase going up. Jump up onto the red ledge/platform and grab the lightning key that is sitting there. Hop back down and unlock the lightning chest under the stairs for the Oni Island Map.

Hop back up and go up the stairs. Use the capacitor platforms/walkway to get to the the upper platform (deadend) past the blocking spider. Standing on this upper platform note that there is a shaft beneath you. Release the lightning key and you'll drop down the shaft. On a ledge you''ll find an Exorcism Arrow. Drop the lightning key and grab the Arrow.

Before you leave this room, I highly recommend that you light the unlit torch on the left of the iron bar gate so that the gate opens.

Go to the east side of the room and bomb the wall with the hanging scroll. It'll create a hole for you. Go through it and out to the hallway.

Hang a left and go up to the Lockjaw to open it. Go up the stairs.

5F

Hey, it's Tobi. You have yet another challenge. Before you start this one, slow time with Mist, then begin. You can double jump dash (double jump then dash while in the air) to get over the first pit. Then, before each set of stairs, double jump so that you don't get hit with the bamboo spikes. Otherwise, just dash up each of the staircases and you'll beat Tobi.

6F

Walk through the Golden Gate and then go through any of the sliding doors on the left. Fight the Ogres (slow time, attack from behind...also note the thunder clouds above) and then go through the left sliding door so that you can jump over the purple water ditch. In this new hallway, note the cat statue on the ledge. Use Catwalk to draw down from it, squiggling to avoid the spike wall plates. Climb up the wall so that you're next to the cat statue and then fall down into the next room. Use Mist on the Blocking Spider to pass by it.

You'll end up in a large room with thunder clouds above. Fight the enemies that appear. Head outside to the balcony and follow it around and up to the Blockhead. You know what to do...tackle him and then paint in the weak spots he shows you, in the order in he shows you. Hop up past him and you'll find Tobi.

7F

Tobi tells you that this is the final race. Thank goodness! Before you step on the switch, look up and to the right to see a ledge spanning the room. You'll be jumping to this to start the race. So, go ahead and step on the switch to get it going, double jump up to the ledge on the right. As you're running, paint a bomb on the cracked wall in front of and below you so that by the time you reach it, it's exploded. Go through the hole in the wall and Vine to the Blossom. Upon landing, quickly dash through the door and you'll beat Tobi. Note that if you fall in the Blossom area, you'll fall all the way back down and will have to make your way back up. If you lowered the iron bars gate as I mentioned earlier, this will save you some time in getting back up here.

Cross the bridge and head outside to the balcony. Save at the Origin Mirror and make your way up the stairs to the battle platform.

Boss Fight - Ninetails

A constellation appears. Paint in the four missing stars to unleash Ninetails!

Part 1 - Destroying the nine tails

The basic gist here is to use Thunderstorm any time that you see him raise his sword. This will scatter the nine tails and you can attack them.

The more detailed version goes something like this...Run around, jumping, doging, etc., until you see Ninetails raise his sword to the sky. When he does this, draw a line from any of the thunderclouds to his sword. He'll be electrocuted and the nine tails will scatter around the area.

Approach any of the nine tails and start attacking them. I was equipped with the Exorcism Beads and used a lot of Mist and Bombs to really do a great deal of damage. Keep in mind that if you do paint any attacks that you need to be quick about it as one of his attaks is to draw something on you as you're trying to draw.

In the first go of it, I was able to take out 5 of the nine tails. Just repeat this process until all nine are wiped out.

Part 2 - The fox himself

For this part of the battle, you don't need to rely on the thunderclouds, although they are handy. Wait for him to charge/dash at you. When he does, double jump out of the way and then use Mist to slow time. He'll pause momentarily after the charge/dash attack, and with time slowed, you can get in a good many attacks on his rear. Keep this up keeping an eye out for any time that he raises his sword. When you see this, go ahead and draw lightning to it to inflict a good chunk of damage. Keep these attacks going until he perishes.

You'll earn the Blade of Kusanagi.

After the battle you'll end up back in N. Ryoshima Coast and Waka appears. He's such a loser but does have valuable information. He'll mention that perhaps you should go to the north side of Shinshu Field. Boy it's been a long time since you've been there. Get there however you please, I recommend a Mermaid Spring.

Extras

Shinshu Field - Heading North

Main Story Walkthrough

Ah, Shinshu field, how I've missed you. If you have any interest in visiting the Dojo, feel free. I went ahead and spend 100,000 Yen on Golden Fury (you pee on opponents to earn demon fangs) and another 7,000 Yen on Spirit Storm.

Whenever you're ready, open your map and locate the cat paw icon, to the west of the red circle. Head there to find a cat statue. Use Catwalk to get up the wall. Head north and clear a Devil Gate. Head back SE and follow the path. You'll pass another Devil Gate, on the left. Clear it.

Continue along the path to the stone building with lighting above it. Draw a line from the lighting to the sword atop the building. Enter the building via the now-open door on the left of it. Head through the tunnel.

Kamui

Main Story Walkthrough

After coming through the tunnel from Shinshu Field, you end up in Kamui, the snowy part of Nippon. Save at the Origin Mirror off to the left and then head up the path. Beat up the two new enemies: Namahage and Blade Namahage using whatever technique you like (I used a lot of Slashing).

Enter the hut in front of you for a cutscene with a swordsman who appears out of the fire. After that, leave the hut and you'll have to fight him.

Boss Fight - Oki

Part 1

Stay at a good distance from him and wait to see a blue shield go up around him. Just after that you'll see blue swords hovering over him and they'll soon be flying at you. Like so many enemies before, simply Slash the sword(s) back at him. He'll be stunned and you can attack. If you get hit and turn into a block of ice, use Inferno to draw a line from a torch to you, which will break the ice. Repeat this until he turns into wolf form.

Part 2

Jump and/or dodge his charge/dash attack. As soon as he passes you, slow time with Mist and attack him. Reapeat this until he becomes stunned (yellow stars around him). While he's stunned, attack him with fire by drawing a line from a torch to him. This will do huge damage. Keep up this process until he's toast.

Don't worry if he splits into the pink ghostly wolfs. Just concentrate on him and you'll be fine.

After the fight, Oki tells you about a lot of stuff. Most importantly about a prophecy of salvation regarding a wall of ice and it shattering when his sword glows silver. Blah, blah.

When play resumes, follow the path and you'll meet up with Yoichi again. He's the master archer. Wait for him to fire an arrow and, while it's in the air, use Thunderstorm to electrify it (draw line from lighting to it). The arrow will hit a stone hill and explode, thus revealing the Guardian Sapling!

Bloom the Guardian Sapling.

If you want to go fishing or visit the Dojo, head east. You'll find Kokari and Ume at the fishing hole. The only thing you should definitely get at the Dojo is Hardhead, which allows you to break objects with tackle that you couldn't previously, like iron boulders. Otherwise, feel free to learn what you want. When you're done messing arouund, head back to the guardian sapling area and take the north path.

You'll run into a new enemy, the Igloo Turtle. Attack it until its tail catches fire and then draw a line from the flaming tail to the twigs inside the igloo. It'll bust open. Attack it with Slash to do a ton of damage.

If you want the ability to draw three bombs at once, Cherry Bomb 3, then look up to the guardian sapling and locate the Blossom. Vine up there and lay a bomb on the cracked wall. You'll then see a ground plate with two cracks in it. This means that you must have Cherry Bomb 2 in order to blast it. If you've been following this walkthrough, you have it. Lay two bombs on the ground plate and enter the underground area to find a Divine Spring. Donate 100,000 three times to earn Cherry Bomb 3 and the Cherry Bomb 3 Travel Guide. The only real reason to get it is because you'll need the skill to get a stray bead later on. If you have money to burn, go for it. If not, you can always come back.

Continue north, buy/sell at the merchant, and then head left and onto the frozen lake. Clear the Devil Gate which will melt that part of the lake and create for you a Mermaid Spring.

Just south of there is an island in the lake with a stone dig spot. Dig it and drop down to the underground cavern. Go up the the Blockhead Grande (isn't that a medium Starbucks drink?). This blockhead requires you to remember 8 weakspots. Pure rotten. I used my digital camera that has a movie function on it to record the shots. If you have that, or a cell phone with that capability, I highly recommend utilizing it. You'll have to multitask to record the sequence and then hold down the paint button so that you have time to watch your recording.

After Blockhead Grande is defeated three chests will appear. One has Gold Dust, one a stray bead, and the other a Silver Pocket Watch. Exit out of the cavern.

Head a little more north, still on the frozen lake, and you'll find Wali's house. He'll give you Wali's Record of Penance aka the Kamui Wanted List. You know what to do...take on Demon Scrolls at night. You can find the locations near the end of this section of walkthrough.

Continue north, keeping your eye on the west cliff wall. You'll soon see a cave entrance. Enter and double jump dash over to the treasure chest on the pillar. Inside is the Tribe of the Moon Travel Guide.

Head back to the main path and clear the Devil Gate.

Head up the path to Wep'keer and, just before entering Wep'keer, drop off the path to the right. Drop down to the next lowest ledge to find a cracked wall. Bomb it to find a Spider Grotto (2/3). Deal with this if you wish to earn a Sun Fragment.

Otherwise, just head up the path to Wep'keer.

Wali's Record of Penance - Kamui Wanted List

1) Near end of NE path, path toward Yoshpet. Note, this enemy was holding an Exorcism Arrow that I received after defeating him.

2) North central, on frozen part of pond.

3) Near Wali's house.

4) Just north of the Merhant, on the path.

5) Next to the island on south end of lake.

Visit Wali for your Gold Dust reward.
