"Prince of Persia" Game Guide

Introduction

Welcome to Lunabean's unofficial, "Prince of Persia" Walkthrough and Strategy Guide. This walkthrough contains step-by-step instructions for every aspect of the game, details the locations of all 1,001 Light Seeds (yes, it really does...I wrote them all out!), offers tried and true Boss Strategies, contains explanations for all Achievements (X360), and offers cheats as well.

How this Walkthrough is Organized

"Prince of Persia" is a fairly open game. That is, you can visit different areas at different times. Because of this, you may not be going through the game in the same way as this walkthrough. That's fine. If you are stuck in a particular area, simply locate that area in the walkthrough using the bookmarks or the search features.

Each area in this Walkthrough is divided into three main parts: Getting There, Corrupted, and Light Seeds. So, for example, one of the first places you go is King's Gate. First, the walkthrough explains how to get there. When you arrive, the area is corrupted and you have to heal it. The Walkthrough explains how to go about doing that. After each area is cleared, you'll have the opportunity to collect Light Seeds. This is the third part of each area...a complete list of all Light Seeds.

At the end of this walkthrough you'll find a list of Xbox 360 Achievements, all explained, and some cheats. Enjoy!

Gameplay Basics

There is not a whole lot to explain here as everything is explained in the walkthrough as it happens to you. With that being said, there are a few basic things that are good to know going in.

In the first part of the game you'll be clearing out the first four areas. After healing each of the first four areas, you'll be able to access its corresponding region of four areas. These areas are locked by Power Plates. As the game progresses, you'll earn each of the four powers to access each of the four power plates.

You earn Power Plate powers by collecting Light Seeds. So, as you can see, the basic gist of this game is: Go to area, heal area, collect light seeds, go to next open area, upon collecting enough light seeds go to Temple for another power to access even more areas, repeat.

If this is confusing, don't even worry about it. Just follow the Walkthrough and it'll all become very clear as you play.

Enemies

There are actually only six enemies in the game (well, seven if you count the human guards at the very beginning of the game). I'm not going to tell you about five of them as you'll encounter them as you go. What I do want to discuss are the Corrupted Soldiers. These are the "normal" enemies in the game. They are positioned in between areas (on the paths between them) and stay there until you heal the area.

They always appear on a platform and as you approach them you'll see them spawn from the ground as a black column of corruption. Often, you'll see the game tell you, "If you move quickly you can prevent the enemy from spawning."

What this means is that if you get to the Corrupted Soldier quickly enough, while he's still in his swirling column, you can attack him and do away with him in one hit. Otherwise, you'll have to fight him.

Once you realize this, you can avoid these annoying fights by simply getting to him quickly (no dilly-dallying!).

Elika Saving You During a Boss Fight

Believe it or not, you can't die in this game. No matter what, your magical friend, Elika, will save you. However, this has consequences during boss fights.

If you miss the button prompt when a Boss is trying to do a finishing move on you, Elika will save you. This allows the Boss a chance to heal (you'll watch as his health meter goes up).

This isn't really a big deal, but it's just something to be aware of.

Movement Tutorial Basics

After the cutscene which begins the game, you'll be told how to move the camera. If you want to invert the Y-axis (pull down to look up) or X-Axis, then go into your Pause Menu and choose "Settings".

Head forward and Jump over the gaps when the game tells you. Up next, you'll learn how to Wall Run. Push your control stick toward the wall and press the Jump button. You'll run along the wall. Note that you do not need to continue to hold down the Jump button, however, it does help to continue pushing forward with your control stick.

Please Note - There are two kinds of Wall Runs in the game. The Wall Run just described, where you run along a wall, will be referred to as a Wall Run. The other kind is when you run straight up a wall. I will differentiate these by referring to this type of Wall Run as a Vertical Wall Run.

After two Wall Runs you'll have to jump up a ledge. If you can't handle this, you really should just return your game now ;).

Continue to follow the mystery lady and you'll have to do a Wall Run Jump. This is where you jump while running along the wall, thus propelling you across to a safe platform. In this case, the game will pause for you and tell you to jump. Do so.

Continue along the path and you'll see the mystery lady being held by two guards.

Battle Tutorial Basics

It's time to learn a little battle technique. Press your Sword Attack button to, well, attack with your sword. Press the Gauntlet Attack button to attack with your metal glove. This is also known as a Lift Attack. While the enemy is in the air, the game will tell you to do another sword attack. This is a nice combo and you should get used to mixing up your attacks.

After those basic moves, the game will teach you how to block. Make sure that you press and hold the Block button. After blocking a bit, continue to attack the guard until you get a cutscene.

Wall-to-Wall Technique

When play resumes, follow the mystery lady up to the wall. Here, you'll learn how to do a Wall-to-Wall jump. You use this technique when you have two wall close to one another. The basic gist is that you'll be running up one wall and then jumping back and forth in order to make your way up.

In this case, face the right wall and push against it. Press the Jump button to start a Vertical Wall Run up the wall. As you run up the wall, press the Jump button again to leap across to the other side. Keep hitting the Jump button, back and forth, until you grab onto the wall's edge on the left (you'll get better at the timing of this as the game progresses). Pull yourself up and continue following the mystery lady.

As you move forward to the cliff's edge you'll yell out "Elika," yes, the mystery lady has a name.

Head left. Do a Wall Run along the right wall and then jump near the end of the run, still pushing forward, in order to continue your Wall Run along the left wall. After completing the Double Wall Run, you'll get a "magical" cutscene.

When play resumes, you'll be carrying Elika. Walk along the path until you get a cutscene. You'll have to fight another guard. This time, you learn about Acrobatic Attacks. Press the Acrobatic Attacks button to perform...you guessed it...acrobatic attacks. You can combo these attacks with your Sword and Gauntlet attacks. Fight the guard until he runs away.

Talking to Elika

After the fight, Elika will follow you. You'll also learn that you can talk to Elika at any time by stopping and pressing the Talk to Elika button. Talking to Elika gives you some background information and also some more game dialogue. You can talk to her repeatedly in the same place. You'll know she has nothing else to offer you, though, when you can no longer talk to her (usually after three or four times talking to her in the same place).

Continue forward and Elika will follow. Jump the gap and then Wall Run and Jump across to the left platform. Wall Run the left wall and then the right wall and then the left wall. At the end of last Wall Run, you'll want to Jump and push forward so that you land on firm ground. Note that you if you miss any jumps Elika will use her magic to save you from falling to your death...pretty handy.

Here, you'll encounter another guard. Dispose of him and another guard will drop in.

Counterattack

Follow the instructions on screen and you'll get an opportunity to Counterattack. To do this, you need to time your Block so that you block at the moment that the attack is coming at you. If you do that correctly, you'll have a small window of time to hit any of your three attack buttons to perform a Counterattack. Counterattacks do a great deal of damage.

Desert

Gripfall

After dealing with that guard, you and Elika need to drop down a cliff wall. To do this, approach the cliff edge carefully and fall off of it so that you automatically grab onto the ledge. While hanging, press the Gripfall button (same as the Block button). You'll safely slide down the wall. Note that you can move left or right when Gripfalling by moving your control stick.

After a quick cutscene, follow Elika to the tree temple. Head up the left staircase. You'll see Elika do some Vertical Wall Runs up the left wall. Follow her up. You'll automatically grab onto each successive wall fissure. When you get to the "L"-shaped fissure, shimmy to your right and climb up it. Yes, you can climb up vertical fissures. At the top of the fissure, do one final Vertical Wall Run and you'll reach the platform with Elika.

You'll be told to grab hold of the crank. Do so (use the on-screen button), aka, the Use button, and then push to the left until you see the large door open below. Press the Use button again to disengage the crank and then Gripfall down the wall you just climbed up.

Temple

Head through the door you just opened.

Head forward to the end of the hall where you'll find a door. Jump up to the ring on the right side of the door. You'll pull it and the door will open. Go through.

This is Ahriman's prison (apparently a bad guy with evil powers). The seal holding him in is a glowing tree in the middle of the area. There is a pathway to the right leading down. Go down the path and approach the glowing tree.

Boss Fight - Elika's Father

After the cutscene, Elika's father will fight you. Use a variety of combos to defeat him and be sure to Block when the game tells you to.

After the battle, Elika's father breaks the seal by slashing the glowing tree. All hell breaks loose, literally!

Elika's Magic Attacks

You'll now have to fight a demon Soldier. You'll be told that you can use Elika's Magic Attacks (use the button shown to you, which will be known as the Magic button). Do so and follow the on-screen prompts to unleash a powerful combo. This fourth attack of yours (the others are sword, gauntlet, and acrobatic) can be added to the mix of combos and can be used between combos to extend said combo.

After defeating the Soldier, head forward, jumping gaps. When you reach the Wall Run, jump at the end of it and you'll Wall Run to a fissure. Shimmy left on the fissure until you can go no further. Push left and press the Jump button to Wall Run from the fissure.

Long Jump

You'll end up on solid ground. Head up the ramp to the door. Defeat the Corruption and then Vertical Wall Run up to the ring to open the door. Go through and navigate the collapsing hallway by Jumping and Wall Running when necessary. At the end of the hall you'll learn the Long Jump. In the middle of your Jump, press the Magic button and Elika will grab you and toss you.

World Map

After the cutscene you'll learn about the World Map. Press the Map button (shown to you) and go through the map tutorial. You are first shown locked lands. You can't go there now. You'll next learn about Power Plates. These are upgrades at the Temple that Elika can activate when she has enough Light Seeds.

Currently, you can only access four areas, indicated by the flashing blue circles. For consistency's sake, let's go left to right. Move your cursor over the left-most flashing circle and Set Destination. You'll then be told to exit the Map using the Map button.

Note, from here on out, if you re-open your Map, you'll see the name and information about each destination on the Map. In this case, you'll be headed to "King's Gate - Ruined Citadel."

Upon starting back up, you'll be told that you can hit Elika's Magic button to show you the way to your marked destination. Do so and you'll see a beam of light emit from her and point to your destination. Before moving on, feel free to talk to her repeatedly (keep hitting the Talk button) until all she'll do is small talk. You'll learn some history on Elika and about the Fertile Grounds which feed the Temple.

Desert

If you don't know which way to go, you can have Elika shoot out her Compass light at anytime using the Magic button. This will always point to the destination you have marked on your map.

In this case, simply head across the desert until you reach your destination whereupon you'll get a cutscene. After, talk to Elika if you wish and then do a Long Jump to clear the gap in front of you (Jump and hit the Magic button while in the air).

King's Gate - Getting There

After the Long Jump head forward and Vertical Wall Run up to the fissure on the left. Move along it and drop down to the pathway. Head forward to the dead end and then Vertical Wall Run up to the ring on the wall. While hanging from the ring, use your Lift Attack/Use button to continue up.

Head up the next ledge and then forward. Here, you'll be told to Jump and then Vertical Wall Run up to the ledge. Essentially, all you need to do is Jump while pushing forward and you'll automatically climb up the wall to the ledge.

This next Wall Run is also a bit of a twist. Wall Run to the ring and then use the Lift Attack/Use button to continue the Wall Run (much like you did just a minute ago for the Vertical Wall Run). At the end of the extended Wall Run, jump forward so that you land on the ground.

Move forward a tad and you'll be told to use Elika's compass (press the Magic button) to show you the path. The game would like for you to head to the left. You'll want to follow that advice (going right will take you all sorts of places that you'll be later anyway, so just stick to the program now, for goodness sake!).

Head left and Jump to the pole. While hanging from a pole, you can swing. Don't worry about swinging for now, though, just Jump again and you'll land under some rings. Make your way up the rings (remember to use the Lift Attack/Use button when hanging from a ring) and then jump to and across the two poles.

Walk out onto the broken beam and jump forward and climb up. Head forward and jump to the next beam. From the beam jump forward. Vertical Wall Run up to the fissure and then climb it. Jump up again to the next platform. Head forward and jump across the two beams.

Vertical Wall Run up the wall to the beam extending from the wall. You'll be hanging from it. Pull yourself up and face the wall. Vertical Wall Run up to the fissure and shimmy right. Wall Run to the next fissure and continue shimmying to the right until you can pull yourself up onto a platform.

Talk to Elika if you like. Also, if you look out over the area and up, you'll see a blue beam of light at the top of a ruined tower. That is your destination.

Use Elika's compass if you wish to show you the way. Facing out over the area, you'll want to go left. Jump the beam, pole, beam and land on the platform. Face the middle of the area and jump to your very first column. You'll automatically swing around to the back side of the column (nice touch), so just Jump again to jump from it to the central tower.

Here you'll see black vines covering the wall. Conveniently enough, you can climb vines. Jump up to them and shimmy left along them until you are above the next platform. Gripfall down and drop down to the platform.

Turn the corner and jump the two columns. Turn the next corner and Wall Run to the vines and from the vines, Wall Run again.

Turn the corner once more and jump to the column. This time, climb up the column and jump to the upper wooden platform. Head around to the next column and jump to it.

Roofrun

Climb this column and you'll learn about the Roofrun. The Roofrun is just like a wall run, except that you do it on the ceiling. In this case, push away from the column and press the Jump button. Sure enough, you'll run along the ceiling. When you get to the ring, hit your Lift Attack/Use button to extend the Roofrun. You'll end up on the next platform.

Turn the corner. Jump the two beams and then Jump to the column. Here you'll need to rotate around the column so that your back is facing the next column. Jump to that next column when you're all lined up and then jump from it to the platform.

Wall Run the right wall to the vines and then shimmy left around the corner. When you run out of vines, climb up and do a Vertical Wall Run up to the next ledge.

In front of you is the blue beam of light. You've reached the top! Approach the blue light to begin a boss fight.

Boss Fight - The Hunter

This Corrupted enemy isn't too difficult. Attack with a variety of combos. I mainly stuck to Magic Attacks and Sword Attacks. If you get saber locked with him, repeatedly tap the button shown to you. You may need to do this several times but seems to happen more if you're using Lift Attacks.

Of course, remember to block, particularly when the game tells you.

If you get damaged and The Hunter goes in for the kill, you'll be shown a button to press to get out of it. If, however, you fail, Elika will rescue you. However, you'll see the Corrupted enter the blue beam of light which allows him to heal. Therefore, avoid getting to the point where Elika needs to save you.

After the boss fight wait for the cutscene and press the Magic button when prompted. Then, repeatedly tap that button to heal the Fertile Grounds (if you played "Okami" this may look familiar to you).

When greenery and life has returned to the land, you'll be told about Light Seeds.

Light Seeds

Light Seeds are needed to unlock Power Plates (special powers) which unlock new areas for you to explore. You need 60 light seeds for the first upgrade. There are 45 light seeds per area (for example King's Gate has 45, The Cauldron has 45, etc.).

Since the first four area are open to you, and each contains 45 Light Seeds, all you need to do is collect 15 in each area in order to get to the 60 (15*4). However, this guide will tell you the locations of all Light Seeds. You can look at the end of this chapter for a complete list of the King's Gate Light Seeds.

King's Gate - Light Seeds

Light Seeds are available to you after you have healed the land.

1. You automatically get this one when you first learn about Light Seeds.

2. From where you start up after healing the land and getting your first Light Seed, in front of the gate.

3. On the ring that opens the gate.

4. On the beam after going through the gate.

5. Head back to the boss fight area and go through the other open gate. Hang from the ledge and Gripfall down to the light seed and the vines.

6. Move right on the vines and then Wall Run Jump to the platform. From the platform you'll see a seed on the column in front of you. Long Jump to the column (press the Magic button after your Jump). You'll have to line this up but it's not difficult.

7. From the column, jump to the platform. Wall Run (ignore the beam) past the beam and then jump to land on the next platform (or Long Jump). Turn the corner and you'll see a light seed on a ring above. Long Jump to the column, climb up, and Roofrun to the ring and the light seed.

8. Long Jump back to that same column, climb up, and this time, roof run the opposite direction to get the seed on the ceiling. You'll land on a platform.

9. To your right is an extended wooden platform. You'll come back here after this next light seed. For now, head around the corner to the left, jump to the column and slide down for a seed.

10. From the bottom of the column, you'll be able to see another seed. Jump to it and you'll end up on a grassy platform.

11. Long Jump back to and climb up the column. Go back to that extended wooden platform I mentioned in #9. Face out and you'll see a large door across from you. Jump forward to the hanging column where there is a light seed.

12. Climb the column and jump to the vines on the back wall. Climb down to the lower left of the vines for a light seed.

13. Shimmy to the right side of the vines and then Gripfall down through a light seed.

14. You'll now be at the large door. Face toward the tower to see a light seed just sitting there. Grab it.

15. You can either go left or right here, both paths have light seeds. Facing the tower in the middle, I chose to go left. Start by jumping to the wall and climbing up. From the top of the wall jump the two poles and you'll land on a beam with a light seed.

16. Jump to the next pole and then Long Jump (press the Magic button while in the air) to the vines on the wall in front of you. Climb up a tad for a seed.

17. Continue up the vines and Vertical Wall Run up to the platform. Turn around and face the direction you just came. Jump out onto the beam and then the two poles...between the two poles, you'll grab a light seed.

18. Long Jump from the second pole to reach the third pole and then jump to the beam where you'll grab a seed.

19. Jump forward to the vines where you'll grab another seed.

20. Head back to the platform you were just on (where you climbed up a second ago). This time, face the other direction and you'll see a pole with a red flag on it. Before you jump to it, Vertical Wall Run up the wall to your left to grab a seed.

21. Jump to the pole with the red flag and from it, Long Jump. You'll end up on a path sliding down. At the end of the path, jump and Wall Run the left wall (you'll grab a seed on the left wall along the way).

22. Continue your Wall Run, jump at the end of it to Wall Run the right side canyon wall, and then jump at the end of that Wall Run to end up hanging from a pole. In front of you is a black energy spiral. Jump from the pole down to it and fight the Corrupted Soldier that appears (Lift Attacks work well). After defeating him, face the iron barred gate and look to the left of it to see a seed up above. Climb up the ledge and then Vertical Wall Run up to it.

23. Backtrack by jumping to the next platform. You'll automatically begin sliding down. Jump forward toward the wall and then hit the Lift Attack/Use button when you hit the wall to climb up to the ledge. Pull yourself up, Long Jump the gap, jump the next gap where you'll get the light seed, and then jump again to the wall in front of you. You'll climb up to the railing. Pull yourself up and you'll be on the platform where you jumped to the pole with the red flag in #20.

24. Head back down to the large door of seed #14 and this time, go right. Jump to the first beam to get a seed.

25. Jump to the pole to get a seed.

26. Jump to the next beam to get a seed.

27. Jump forward to the grassy platform for a seed.

28. Jump the next two poles, between which is a seed.

29. Jump forward to the grassy platform for another seed.

NOTE - If this is the first area you have been to, then you don't have the abilities necessary to get the other 16 Light Seeds in the area. Just be proud of yourself for getting 29. That's a good start.

NOTE - The following light seeds require that you have unlocked the Step of Ormazd power (red power plates).

30, 31, 32, 33, 34. Upon warping to King's Gate you'll start off in the Fertile Ground (at the top of the tower). Go through the open gate without the beam and drop off the ledge. Hanging from it, drop down to the vines below. To your left you'll see a red power plate. You can't reach it from this side, however. You'll have to go all the way around the tower (you've done this before). So, head down and right on the vines, Wall Run to the platform, Long Jump to the column, jump to the wooden platform on the corner. Wall Run past the beam and jump to the next corner platform. Turn the corner and Long Jump to the column and then to the next corner platform. Turn the corner and you'll see a column and the red power plate. Jump to the column, climb up it a bit, and then jump from it. You'll Wall Run to the red power plate. Yay! When you get the power plate, hit your Magic button to launch from it. This will set you on a course of red power plate to red power plate to wall run to red power plate. Along the way, you'll grab these five seeds.

35. After that crazy red power plate action, you'll end up on the platform where you can see the pole with the red flag. Open your map and pretend that you're head to The Cauldron. Go ahead and set it as a destination and then use Elika's compass to head that way. Earlier, if you recall, the game would not let you pick up the light seeds on the path between King's Gate and The Cauldron (update...this is a glitch...if you can't pick up these seeds, just save your game, turn off your console and reload your game. If that doesn't work, then go to a previous save). From the start of that path, entering the canyon path between the two Fertile Ground just mentioned, Wall Run the left wall, using the ring to get to the next platform. From the platform, jump to the fissure. Slide down and then shimmy right until you can go no farther. Below you is a seed. Gripfall down the fissure to grab it.

36. Continue down to the rock platform and head out onto the wooden extension. Jump forward and then to the two poles. Continue on, Wall Running the ring, ending up on a fissure. Shimmy right and then down the fissure for a seed.

37. Drop down to firm ground. Open your map and you'll see that you are between King's Gate and The Cauldron. Turn around and Wall Run the left wall to grab the light seed there. You'll fall and have to be saved by Elika.

38. From the same spot where you just began the previous Wall Run, head out onto the wooden extension and jump to the pole and then head up the wall with the rings. Between the two rings is a seed.

39. Continue to backtrack toward King's Gate, via the poles and climbing the wall. Jump the beam and then Vertical Wall Run up to the fissure. Climb up the fissure to the upper platform. In front of you are two beams. Between the beams is a seed. Jump across the beams to grab the seed.

40. Head forward and Vertical Wall Run up to the beam extending from the wall. Vertical Wall Run up from there to the fissure and shimmy right, going around the corner. Wall Run through a seed.

41. You'll end up on another fissure (note that this is how you originally got into this area way back when). Shimmy right until you can go no farther. Pull yourself up onto the platform. If you look up here, you'll see several light seeds among some columns. From this platform, there are vines going up. Climb them (you actually could have gotten these earlier). From the top of the vines, head right on them. Wall Run to the first column and jump to the second. You'll grab a seed between the two columns.

42, 43. Jump from the second column to the vine wall where you'll see two seeds.

NOTE - I didn't come back here until near the end of the game, however, these two seeds don't require any special power, so you can get them whenever you wish.

44, 45. From Fertile Grounds, head down and make your way toward The Sun Temple. When you get halfway there, on the platform with the iron gate, turn around. Climb the ledge, jump to the slide, and then climb the next ledge. You'll end up on a platform on the cliff wall. STOP. Look to your right and you'll see the two seeds in a small alcove in the cliff wall across from you. Jump across to them.
