5. Invasion of the Yokel Snatchers, Bargain Bin, Game Engine

Go to Springfield Mall

Head to the east side of the map and enter the red/orange light as either Bart or Homer.

Invasion of the Yokel-Snatchers

You'll play this level as Bart and Homer.

Find the tractor beam

As Homer, move forward using the Downward Smash as an effective way to clear out the aliens. Approach the left side of the Sprwal-Mart truck to find a helium tank. Note there is a Robo-Bart badge on the fountain near the start if you want to use it.

Helium Tanks - As Homer, approach a helium tank and press the prompted button to fill up. Once you're a ball, repeatedly tap the "Jump" button to gain altitude. You can also do a "helium burst" to burst forward (same as your "Forward Burst" button as a ball).

Use the helium tank to clear the truck and then use the next helium tank, at the edge of the gap, to clear the gap (use Helium Burst). Activate the lever on the left to create steam for Bart.

Switch to Bart and have him climb the netting of the Sprwal-Mart truck. Drop down the other side and glide across the gap using the steam. Kill aliens until everything is quiet.

Go into Homer Ball and roll toward the edge of the parking lot where there are still a few parking place white lines. Across the gap you'll spot a ledge that you can use Forward Burst to get to. Cross the gap and you'll find the Insanity Pepper badge which makes Homer temporarily stronger and invincible.

Use the tire jump to get up to this new parking lot area and activate the lever to create more steam for bart to cross. Switch to Bart and Glide across to Homer. Step onto one of the two pressure plates ("Thank you. Come again.").

Play the modified version of Space Invaders by either punching the enemies, or, more effectively, using Bart's slingshot. You really don't have to aim, as the target will automatically lock on to the nearest invader. I recommend taking cover any time the mother ship flies by. After you defeat the three waves of enemies, step into the tractor beam.

Rescue Cletus

Go up to the lever near Cletus and activate it.

Disable the alien portals

Locate each portal where aliens are emerging and use the Homer Ball plus Forward Burst to smash into each of the portals (the little part sticking out).

Turn off the tractor beam

Go up to the terminal and hit the button.

Duff Bottle Caps

• After clearing the first Sprwal-Mart truck, look to the left. Forward Burst as Homer Ball to the pavement with the Krusty Coupon. The cap is on the right ledge of this area.
• Jump from the red beam on top of the Alternative Knifestyles truck to the blue ledge. Go around the ledge to find the cap.
• Use Forward Burst to clear the gap across the lava to the left of Alternative Knifestyles truck. You'll land on a paved platform with it.
• From the previous cap, there is a nearby Insanity Pepper. Use it to roll forward through the lava to the cap.

Krusty Coupons

• From where you start, head left and grapple so that you land on top of the brown Fed Ups truck.
• Jump from top of first Sprwal-Mart truck and glide to the left.
• Pull the farther lever, it's past the mini-mart, to create steam for you to glide to the pole. Glide from the pole to the platform with the coupon.

Cliches

• Collectible Placement - Grab the first Krusty Coupon, above the Fed Ups truck.

Time Trial Tips

• Play space invaders using Bart's slingshot. You have to survive five waves. Take cover any time the mother ship goes by as it will do a ton of damage to you if it hits you with its laser.

Go to the Simpsons' house

Head there.

Bargain Bin

In the opening scene I wonder if they were looking at the Lunabean walkthrough? Hmm? ;)

Shut down the cartridge incinerator

You have 3:00 to shut it down. As Bart, move forward to the yellow/black tape on the edge and use the Grapple. Activate the lever to create a bridge for Homer. Switch to Homer and use the Forward Burst (as the Homer Ball) to smash through the cracked door. At the next gap, switch to Bart and slingshot the target.

Switch to Homer and use Forward Burst to clear the jump through the crates. Use the Helium to get to the platform with the spring pads. Use them. Again, use Forward Burst to clear the next gap, placing you at the two pressure pads (red circles).

Switch to Bart (he's a ways back) and grapple your way to Homer. Step on either pressure pad. Go through the door and activate the lever. Step into the elevator to end the episode.

After the cutscene, your family's health will increase.

Duff Bottle Caps

• After you break through the cracked wall with Homer, head right to the end of the pathway.
• Float directly up from the helium tank to the platform above.
• After using the first helium tank to clear the gap. On the platform with the spring pad.

Cliches

• Chasm Death - Fall off the path.
• Time Trial - Get to the lever in under 3:00 to turn off the cartridge incinerator.

Time Trial Tips

• You can easily get through the level in about 1:40. Just make sure that your partner doesn't get left behind.

Game Engine

Acquire each player upgrade from Professor Frink

As Homer, talk to Prof. Frink who is behind the circular counter. He'll toss out a tutorial badge. Grab it to learn about Gummi Homer.

Switch to Lisa. Talk to Frink. You'll get Lisa's Lightning and Freeze. These are used via the Hand of Buddha. Give them a try.

Switch to Bart. Talk to Frink. Get the Bartman Wrist Rocket and the Bartman Super Cape. Both of these are simply upgrades to the slingshot and cape you already have.

Switch to Marge. Talk to Frink. Get Marge's Mega-Megaphone.

Cliches

• Lame Tutorials - After all four characters talk to Frink you'll get this.
• Key Card - After you have all four key cards go up to the "Five Characters in Search of an Author" level, up the stairs.
