You begin this level by parachuting out of a plane. Free fall and fly around as you wish. Eventually the altimeter in the bottom left corner of your screen will turn red and you'll get the option to "Open Parachute". Take it. Of course, nothing is ever easy for a Splinter Cell, and something will go wrong. You are told to locate the pin. Use the left control stick (directional buttons on the PC) to guide Sam's hand over the pin. You'll know you're in the right spot when you get another "Open Parachute" prompt. Take it and your parachute will successfully open.

Once you safely land you'll need to find your equipment. Of course, you'll also have to evade the enemies. Fall off the front side of the cliff and move forward a few steps. When you approach the snow pile (and when you can spot the guards), hang a left and move toward the cliff wall. Follow it right, using the ledges and rock structures for protection from the enemy's view. Eventually the wall will curve right. Follow the curve and you will spot your equipment. Make sure neither of the two guards are looking and sneak up to the box. If the guards are near the box, it's possible they'll begin to move in your direction. If this is the case, backtrack a bit and put yourself on the other side of the central ice mound and make your way to the box from this direction. Collect the two Sticky Shockers and two Sticky Cameras to complete the objective. When this is done, move over to the ledge and dive into the pool of water below.

Look around and find the cave opening. Swim through it and Sam will note a man on the above ice. If you swim up to the spot where the man is standing, you'll be given the opportunity to kill him. Since you are working for the terrorists, the kills are not going to affect your stealth rating, so, do what you have to do, but don't pop up through the ice. Instead, find the next cave opening (to the right of your entrance to the area) and swim through it. Checkpoint.

Use Detonators to blow the ice wall (JBA)



Stick along the left wall as you swim forward. Eventually it will curve left and reveal a few icicles. Swim to the one closest to you, where you should get another chance to kill the man on the above ice. Take it this time, then pop up through the open hole. Here you will find a generator. Opt to "Pierce Generator", then turn around, move to the backside of the covered building, and head right.

Once you clear the building, look right, where you should spot a guard. When the lights eventually go out, he should move toward the generator. If he does not, aim your Sonic Emitter toward the generator and try to get him close to move right before crossing. If you're wondering, "Why not just kill him?", it's a matter of not having any bodies found, as this will affect your 100% rating. If you can't get past this area without killing, be sure to dump all bodies in the water.

Anyway, when the man moves toward the generator, make your way to the backside of the tent across the way. Line yourself up in the middle of that backside and you will get a "Cut Material" prompt. Before taking it, equip your Thermal Vision Goggles to ensure the man inside this tent has moved out. If he hasn't, wait until he does, then cut the tent open. Enter and move to the front opening. SAVE.

Look through the opening at the fire to the right and a table to the left of it. On this table is the computer you must use to detonate the explosives. Again, use your Thermal Vision Goggles to ensure both guards are not in the area (one should be investigating the generator, and the second could be anywhere), and slowly sneak to the computer. If you spot either guard, slip into the tent to the left of the computer, and hope no guards follow. Once you reach the computer, hack it, then detonate. Immediately turn around, move past the crate, and fall into the water. I suggested saving before sneaking to the computer, as evading the guards here is quite difficult, and is dependant on the paths the guards opt to take as they search the camp. However, I found it to be the most consistent method.

Once in the water, swim left. Feel free to keep your head above water, as it's easiest to move in the right direction this way.

Continue down the stream to the dead end, where you'll spot some large mounds covered in tarps. Find the low ledge (just to the right of the mounds) and pull yourself out of the water. The guard/s who are normally in this area should be to the left (or they were casualties of the explosion), so you don't need to worry about them. Instead, sneak straight forward and hop into the pool of water, which you exposed by blowing the ice wall. Dive down. If you made it to this point without being detected, you will have completed the Reach the Rublev without alerts objective. Checkpoint.

Next, you'll find yourself in a pool of water that is covered with ice. There is no escape other than breaking one of two ice circles above you. They are noted by the rays of light coming through them. Swim up to either one (I prefer the one that is to the right). Make sure there is no one near the ice circle and opt to break through the ice. Once it breaks, again, wait to make sure no one is near, then surface, climb out, and jump into the large pool of water.

Swim toward the ship and you'll spot a light shining near the surface. Swim toward it and pull yourself up to the platform. Locate the switch on the crate and opt to "Call the Zodiac" down. Step onto the boat and opt to raise the crane. Ride up.

Hop off and note the enemy to your right. He will be speaking with a man on the above catwalk. You need to kill them both, as you need to kill everyone on the ship, because you now have a new goal.

Take out the supertanker crew (JBA)

Important note: Below you will find a step by step walkthrough of how to best disable the supertanker crew. It will provide you with the best route to complete all of the objectives and reach the captain. If this is your first time through, I highly suggest using the below route to get to know the level. However, I was never able to get through the level with 100% stealth by using the below route. At minimum, two bodies would be found (even after I dumped every body I possibly could off the ship). Still, this remains a 100% stealth walkthrough, so I do tell you how I completed the level with 100% stealth at the end of this section. I just think it's important that you learn the route provided below, as the same route will be taken for 100% completion, with the exception of a final twist...

Remain still and the man in front of you will walk the other direction. Sneak behind him (stay beneath the above catwalk so no one can see you), and grab him. Back him up so you're under the catwalk and near the tanks, then kill Crewman #1. Leave his body. Please note, if you're not sure if you have killed or knocked out a person, check the 3-D Map. An unconscious person will register as a yellow dot, whereas a dead person will not have a dot. Jeez...that's a lot of yellow dots. We have much carnage ahead.

Move along the wall and, before the corner, you'll come to a light switch. Hit it, then tightly turn the corner and slip behind the tanks. Move to the end of the tanks. Here, look up and right and you'll see Crewman #2 on a high platform. Wait for him to come down the stairs, make sure no one is looking, then grab him. Drag him to the tank area. Before killing him, check your map and make sure there's not a crewman on the catwalk directly above you (or anywhere close), as he will hear you kill the man. If there is, wait. When it's clear, kill the crewman.

At this point, pull out your 3-D map and locate Crewman #3, who is wandering between the large machinery and spools to your right. It's important you get him now, as he'll find the body of #2. However, you must also be weary of the man on the above catwalk (who shouldn't really be a problem, but, be careful). Once you find #3, sneak behind him and kill him.

Finally, move up the stairs to that pesky catwalk (near Crewman #2's body) and locate Crewman #4. If he's coming at you, go back down the stairs and wait. If he's moving away from you, sneak behind him and take him down. If he's on the above platform, move behind the staircase, and beneath the platform (at its edge). Wait for the crewman to start his descent down the stairs, then jump and pull yourself up to the platform where he just was. Sneak behind him on the stairs and take him down. Consider this quadrant cleared.

This next part is up to you. In order to get 100% Stealth, you have to make sure the bodies of everyone you just killed are not found. This can be a problem as the Captain will run through this area at the end, and he could find the bodies. So, I suggest you find the opening on the right side of the Rear Deck. Stand on the platform and drop each of the four bodies down to the ice below, where no one will find them.

Next, find the crow's nest of this quadrants (high pole leading up to a platform). Find the rope hanging down from it and climb up. At the top is a zipline. Jump up and zip to the wall, where you will find yourself hanging from a ledge. Shimmy right, over the pole, and continue right. Move around the corner, where you should spot Crewman #5 walking around (if you don't, wait for him). Drop down, sneak behind him, and kill him.

Next, find the pole in the corner and climb it. At the top, face the wall in front of you and jump up. Shimmy left and note Crewman #6 above. When he moves, pull yourself over the railing (you'll have to be in a life preserver-clear zone), sneak up behind him and kill him. You'll be back here momentarily. However, for now, hop back over the railing and move back down that pole.

Put your back to the pole and move forward. At the railing, look left. Here you should see Crewman #7 somewhere on the series of catwalks (most likely coming down the stairs). Wait for him to get on the level below you, then jump over the railing, sneak up behind him, and kill him (this happened for me on the backside of the stairs).

Crewman #8 and Crewman #9 are one the ground below. Their positions change from game to game. However, most consistently, I was able to climb down the stairs, move forward, and wait for one to come my way. When this happened, I took him out with a quick Pistol shot to the head. When he is down, the second man on the ground is easy to take out. Just use your 3D Map to locate him, and take him out as you wish. Don't feel like you have to toss the bodies of these men over the ship, but do try to move them between the machinery. When this is done, use the ladder to climb up to the crow's nest here. At the top, use the zipline and you'll find yourself in familiar territory.

Shimmy right, climb up the pole, jump to the wall in front of you, shimmy left, and pull yourself up. I told you you'd be back here.

Contact Lambert (NSA)



You are on the top deck. Note the tall ladder leading to the communication tower. Climb it and pick the lock on the power box. "Use computer", hack the secure folder, then contact Lambert. When the conversation is complete, return to the power box and select the Normal Access folder. Select "Antenna Power" to power down the antenna and complete the Secondary Objective, Disable communications.

Jump up to the zipline and ride it down to the platform to the right. Stand on top of the trap door and open it up. Rappel down.

Take out bridge crew (JBA)



Move through the broken fan to locate the ventilation system. Approach any one of fans and take the option to release the Fentanyl Grenade. When this is done, locate the ledge above the lone fan and pull yourself up to it. Climb through the red lit vent to the Checkpoint, where you will discover your Fentanyl Grenade killed Crewmen #10, #11, and #12.

Exit the vent and move left. Slide down the pole. Hop onto the platform below, then move right and hop over the railing. Move along the walkway behind you, then hop over the next railing. You'll land near the crane where you originally boarded the ship. The container that was in the way before has been moved. Move past it, then turn the corner to the right.

Follow the pipes to the left. When you reach the black tarp, look left and wait for Crewman #13 to appear. He's a tough kill. This is not because he does anything particularly tricky, but because there is a man watching you from above. Any movements you make here should be close to the pipes.

With that being said, back up a few steps and pull out your Ultrasonic Emitter. Shoot it (it whistles) to get the #13's attention. When you see that you have been successful, and the man begins to walk toward you, back up even farther, so he won't be able to spot you. Next, use the SC-20K to launch a Sticky Camera near the base of the black tarp (and a little left, so you aren't seen around the corner). Use its noise function to draw the crewman over to it. When he is hovering directly above it, release the gas. To ensure a kill here, move up to him and shoot him with your Pistol.

Next, approach the black tarp and "Cut Material". Drag #13's body under the tarp, then then cut again. Move through the container and carefully climb the stairs to the left.

Climb the stairs carefully, as there is a guard who likes to walk the catwalk. When you're sure he's not around, move up the stairs and right. Wind your way around to the ladder (be careful of the man, who could be anywhere) and climb it. Here you will find Crewman #14, the man who was spying on you from above. Sneak up behind him and take him down.

Climb back down the ladder. Use your 3-D map to note the location of Crewman #15. He may be on the catwalk with you, he may be in the unexplored area to your left (if your back is to the ladder). Locate him and kill him.

It's time to go below deck. To go below deck, make your way to that aforementioned unexplored area (down the stairs to the left, if you back is to the ladder). Once here, note the two sets of stairs (one that you just came down, and one to the right of it). In between these two sets of stairs is a trap door. Approach it and climb the ladder down. Checkpoint.

Move to the end of the ventilation room and open the door at the end (left side). Move along the caged walkway to the end (silently), where you'll spot a staircase and some controls. If you moved fast enough, you should also spot Crewman #16 here (if not, just wait). If this is the case, wait for him to turn his back to you, then sneak behind him and kill him. Your killing spree is now over. Well, kind of. The people you are required to kill are all dead, with the exclusion of the Captain.

Kill the captain (JBA)



Move down the stairs. At the bottom make a left U-turn, followed by a quick right (between the tanks). Move past the ladder and down the stairs. Move through the door, then through the next door.

Immediately turn right so you are between the wall and the machinery. Move along the wall and you'll eventually appear at the base of a set of stairs. Make sure the area is clear, then slip through the door at the base of said stairs. Close it behind you.

Locate the control panel and hit the switch. This will deactivate the fan. Climb over the railing and fall into the water below. Dive deep and locate the open side tunnel. Swim through it. Checkpoint.

Swim to the circular platform and climb onto it. Watch as the Captain paces back and forth above. He has in his hands a torch, which, if tossed, will kill the entire mission. He won't consider tossing it until you reach the above walkway, so, get your plan together while on this circular platform.

Stand beneath a railing and wait for the Captain to move past you in either direction. When he does, jump and pull yourself over the railing. Quickly (and I mean quickly) get behind the Captain and grab him. Kill the Captain. Congrats. Consider the supertanker seized.

Reach landing pad for extraction



Look for the red lit ladder along the platform and climb it up. Continue up and open the hatch at the top. Wait for the helicopter to arrive, and stand beneath it to complete the level.

100% Stealth

As mentioned at the beginning of the "Take out supertanker crew" section, the above never earned my 100% stealth. However, I did eventually get it. Here is how.

Use the same route as described above, but don't kill ANYONE (at first). Instead, sneak past them. First, make your way up to the communications tower. Next, poison the bridge crew. Finally, make your way to the captain and kill him. When this is done, it's go time.

Climb up to the helipad, then immediately make your way to the guard up above. When he's out, take out the two men (one on the right, one on the left). Next, with your back to the helipad, move left, then toward the Rear Deck. Locate the vertical pipe, climb it up, then move around the corner to the left. Here you will cross the barrier that prevents you from reaching the Rear Deck from this side of the ship. You will have stairs in front of you (and possibly a man coming at you). Take him out, then work your way up to the man guarding the communication tower. Along the way, you may run into another guard. Take him down. Finally, eliminate the guard at the top.

Now you only have men on the ground with whom to contend. Work your way down the same way you came up, and sweep the Rear Deck, carefully taking out each guard so no one sees nor hears. I wish I could provide you with details of how to take out each guard, but I went through this method three times, and each time the guards movements were different. I believe this is because this is not how the level was intended to be played, so the game gets a bit glitchy and sometimes guards get stuck in odd places or take odd routes.

I will tell you that I found it best to kill as infrequently as possible (I ended with only two kills). KOs are the better option. Sticky Shockers, Air Foil Rounds, and a good old choke hold are quick and (mostly) silent. Gassing can be fun, too, but it sometimes draws unwanted attention. Also, don't go for multiple kills (like with a gas grenades). Focus on one man at a time. Don't let the bodies remain in plain sight, but don't go to too much of an effort to hide them.

When everyone "outside" the ship has been taken care of, Moss will tell you there's one more left. Head to the Bow of the ship and down the hatch you initially fell through to find the captain. Take out the lone guard here (if you take out one of the other two, one will, most likely, find the other). When this is done, return to the helipad and enjoy your 100%. You've certainly earned it.
