Introduction and Gameplay Tips

Welcome to the Lunabean Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith Walkthrough and Strategy Guide. This guide will get you through each of the 17 single player levels and reveals ALL SECRETS. It gives strategies and techniques for all duels and contains recommendations on Force Upgrades. This guide is all you'll need to become a true Jedi Master.

Controls

To get a look at your controls, access the "Pause" menu, choose "Settings" > "Controls". You have an option between four different configurations. Choose whatever you'd like. The controls in this strategy guide are referred to generically. For example, instead of saying a PS2 specific phrase like, "hit your Triangle Button," I say, "hit your Strong Attack Button". This way you can match up your controls depending on whether you're playing on the PS2 or Xbox.

To get a look at your combos and what each button does, access the "Pause" menu, and choose "Combat Chart". This will tell you what moves you can perform. The higher you build up your Force in each particular category, the more options you'll have available. Please note that some moves require you to hold down that button. For example, when you perform a Saber Toss, the longer you hold down the button, the farther it will go.

You have three basic Saber attacks: Strong Attack, Fast Attack, and Critical Attack. You'll use the first two of these for most of your Combos. If you want to see your combos, access the "Combat Chart" (see "Controls"). The Critical Attack is very useful in two cases: One, when the opponent is very near to death, this is an easy way to finish him/her/it off. Secondly, after knocking an opponent to the ground, usually by using an Area Attack, you can go up to the enemy and press and hold the Critical Attack button to stab the enemy while he/she/it is on the ground.

During most battles you'll want to hold down the "Block/Strafe" button. This will allow you to "lock-on" to an enemy. It also keeps you on the defensive so that you'll automatically block oncoming attacks. While holding the Block Button you can use the Jump Button to jump left, right, forward, or back from the enemy onto which you are locked-on. This is very useful for dodging attacks or getting out of a sticky situation.

When you are confronted with Blaster Fire, either from enemies or Turrets, hold down your Block Button and rotate the Right Analog Stick in a circle. This will cause your Saber to spin in a circle, thus deflecting enemy fire back at the enemy. This does use Force Meter.

Dueling/Advanced Moves

There are several dueling levels in the game where you'll take on another Jedi. What follows are some helpful hints to make these (and other) fights easier.

Saber Locks: A Saber Lock occurs when you and the other Jedi both perform a Strong Attack at the same time. Your sabers will be locked. To win this standoff, rapidly push either the Fast Attack, Strong Attack, or both simultaneously. If you succeed, you'll get a good attack in. If you lose, you'll be defenseless against an attack.

Universal Launcher: While fighting an enemy, pressing your left analog stick towards the opponent, use the Strong Attack button as the third part of a three-hit combo to launch your enemy into the air. At this point, you can get a few attacks in, especially if you Jump up just as you do the Universal Launcher so you attack the enemy while he's in the air. If you get tossed into the air, push the Jump Button to do an Air Tech Escape; aka jumping out of the way.

Critical Lunge Strike: I mentioned this above. When an enemy only has a sliver of health left you can perform a Critical Attack, which will be unblockable and will finish your enemy...with style.

Get-Up Attacks: If you get knocked to the ground, you can protect yourself from attacks by pressing the Strong and Fast Attack buttons simultaneously.

Breaking out of Stuns: If you get stunned by another Jedi, rapidly press the Strong and Fast Attack buttons simultaneously.

Breaking out of Grapples: A Grapple is when an enemy grabs you (you can perform them, too). To block a Grapple, press the Strong and Fast Attack buttons simultaneously at the very beginning of the Grapple.

Shunts: A shunt or parry is defined as "To deflect or ward off (a fencing thrust, for example)." There are three types of Shunts available to you: Offensive Shunts, Offensive Counter Shunts, and Trap Shunts. Offensive Shunts are performed when moving the left analog stick toward your enemy. While so doing, press the Strafe/Block button and then quickly push either the Strong or Fast attack button to do a follow-up attack. The Offensive Counter Shunt happens when an enemy has shunted you and is about to do the follow up attack. If you guess what attack he/she is about to do on you, and press that same button, you'll avoid the attack. Trap Shunts happen when you are holding down the Strafe/Block button. While blocking, press the Strong and Fast attack buttons simultaneously just before being struck by the enemy's Lightsaber.

Force Powers

You have many force powers which are upgradable. As you play through the game you'll earn Experience which you can apply to these skills. Using Force Powers will drain your Force Meter. The Force Meter regenerates over time, or if you pick up a Force Surge.

Force Heal: Click down on both the left and right analog sticks at the same time to use your Force Heal. This is the most important Force Power, in my opinion, and is the one that you should upgrade first. Once you have this power under your belt, it is easy to survive just about anything, because you can heal on demand.

Force Grasp: Force Grasp allows you to pick up objects and throw them at opponents OR allows you to pick up opponents and throw them at objects or off of cliffs. To perform a Force Grasp, press and hold the "Push/Grasp" button. While holding it, move your left analog stick in the direction you want to throw said object/enemy and then release the button.

Force Push: A useless Force Power, if you ask me. To do a Force Push, tap the "Push/Grasp" button to send out a wave of energy in front of you.

Force Stun/Lightning: As both Obi-Wan and Anakin, you have the ability to stun enemies and droids. Press and hold the "Stun/Lightning" button and watch as the enemy becomes dazed. This is also a great way to disable the shields on Droidekas (Destroyers). As Obi-Wan and Anakin gain power, this power changes a tad. Obi-Wan will develop the ability to not just Stun enemies, but to trick them into fighting for you. They'll shoot their own kind. In Anakin's case, this power transforms into Lightning. You'll send out waves of electricity to damage your opponents.

Saber Throw: Another fairly useless Force Power, except when it comes to destroying Turrets. This was the last Force Power that I upgraded. I didn't find any problem throughout the game of not being able to reach my intended target with a Saber Throw. Upgrading will only make the attack stronger, not go farther.

Force Speed: My least favorite of all the Force Powers. Move the left analog stick twice in any direction to gain a burst of speed. This is useful in one particular level, but is otherwise annoying.

Force Icons

During the game you'll get two types of Force Icons. The first type is the Force Jump Icon. This is a glowing blue icon on the floor. Stand on this icon and press and hold the Jump button. Release it to Force Jump. You don't have control over where the Force Jump Icon takes you. Just trust in the force. Also, if you need at least a little bit of Force Meter to perform this action.

The second type of Force Icon is the Force Focus Icon, which I simply call the Force Icon throughout this guide. This is a white/silver icon that glows on the ground. Stand on this icon and press and hold your "Push/Grasp" button to perform the action. Usually the action is moving an object that is blocking your path.

Force Targeting

Have you noticed a character or object that has a blue glow around him/it? This means that you have Force Targeted. You do this by moving your Right Analog Stick in the direction of the person/object that you want to highlight. You attacks will be focused on that person/object. I found this to be useless and I didn't even know about it the first time I played through. However, it can come in handy in crowded environments if you want to lift a certain container or want to target a Turret, for example.

Game Screen

Health Meter: Your basic health meter. It is the red horizontal bar. You can refill health by finding Bacta Tanks or using your Force Heal. You can add onto your Health Meter by finding secret Health Surges.

Force Meter: This is the blue bar just above your Health Meter. It regenerates over time. You can add onto it by finding secret Force Surges.

Experience Meter: This is the blue bar under you Health Meter. You get Experience for killing enemies. You spend Experience that you've gained at the Upgrade Terminal at the end of each level.

Skill Meter: This is the circle meter around the picture of Anakin or Obi-Wan. The meter goes up as you kill enemies. It drops if you take fire or hits. A turret can easily wipe out your Skill Meter if it gets you. As you fill up the Skill Meter you'll be rated on your kills. The first stage is "Fair" these are just normal kills and count as one unit of Experience. The second stage is "Good". Kills done while the meter is at this level count 150% of a normal kill. The third stage is "Impressive". These count as a 200% experience bonus. Finally, when you've maxed out the meter, you are in the "Masterful" stage. This stage only lasts about 10 seconds. Any kills you get while in this mode count as 300% toward your experience.

If you find secret "Saber Crystals" your skill meter will be instantly maxed out. Keeping an eye on your Skill Meter helps you gain the maximum amount of experience.

Upgrade Terminal

At the end of every mission you'll go to the Upgrade Terminal where you can spend the Experience Points you earned in the level. You are free to spend your Experience Points in any way you like. However, I have given you recommendations based upon my experience playing through the game several times. I tell you what I found to be more important and useful. You don't have to follow my recommendations, however, there are certain moves/combos that become unlocked based on how much you've upgraded a particular skill. I may be using a combo in a duel that you don't have because you didn't follow my recommendation. Just be aware of that. Also, you can go back and replay any mission to try to get more Experience. This is a good idea if you feel that you are low on Experience.

Keep in mind that I don't know how much Experience you earned in any particular level. If you maxed out each level, then obviously, you have more Experience to spend than somebody who only got their Experience Meter half full. In general I tried to get the Experience Meter about 3/4 full, which I figured would be a good average. Some of the levels, however, just lend themselves to more or less and I've noted that in the guide when that is the case.

The recommendations I have made are based upon my fighting style. My fighting style is based on what I found to be the easiest way to kill enemies. I tended to enjoy the Area Attacks in order to do lots of damage and knock an enemy to the ground whereupon I could run to him and perform a Critical Attack while he was still on the ground. I didn't find much use for Dash Attack as I found they are more trouble than they're worth. Same goes with Grapples, although you may be a big fan of them. That's great. Upgrade away. I have only recommended guidelines and you are free to do what you choose.

Bonus Missions

Five Bonus Missions are unlocked after you've played all of the single player missions. These are not really Bonus Missions as much as they are Survival Battle Arenas. You'll play as a particular character and will either have to survive as long as possible or kill enemies until they are all dead. At the end of the mission you'll get a readout of the time elapsed and the number of kills.
