Mission 4
Fichina: Into the Storm

You must take out the shield generators, as indicated on your radar and map. Use the Landmaster (in front of you) to make your way to the generators. Don't worry about the fact that the dots are small, just make your way toward them. Each red dot gives you the placement of a shield generator. When you reach one, look up and locate the Power Supply (the spinning gem-like structure). Get in a position where you can shoot it directly and blast it away. Do this with each of the indicated shield generators, taking out enemies as you go.

Upon destroying the shield generators, the central control center will be accessible. The control center will not be noted on your radar, so, if you need help finding it, use your map to make your way to the central structure. Locate either of the two open doors (one's to the east, one's to the west), exit your Landmaster, and enter the control center.

Once inside, run forward and you'll get a cutscene. When the cutscene comes to and end, you'll find yourself surrounded by enemies. If you picked up the Gatling Gun along the way (inside an enemy at the third shield generator), use it. If you have to rely on your Blaster, you'll be just fine, too. Note, your weapons won't pierce the droids' "wings", and will, therefore, be useless when the wings are covering the "body" of the enemies. If the droids aren't opening up for you, charge them. Run at them and they'll fly back and up into the air. Shoot their exposed bodies before they attack, or move out of the way of their attack, then shoot them while they're stuck in place. Once you've destroyed all of the red dot indicated enemies, Falco will come for you. Continue to fight until he does.

After Falco rescues you, you'll be placed upon his wing as he flies you around. Watch your radar for light blue arrows, indicating flying enemies. Shoot them down as they come. Also look for the orange dots, indicating serious ground threats. Eliminate them as you approach them. Feel free to take out everything else on the ground, too, as you can get a large Combo by doing so. Protect Slippy when he asks for help. Eventually, you will come to a cutscene.

Boss Fight: Spider Bot

You are being timed. If the clock runs out, the planet will explode and you will die. So, don't let the clock run out. To defeat the Spider Bot you must blast away at the many flying enemies emerging from it. When you hit enough of them, the end producing the enemies will pop open, revealing its pink center. Shoot at the pink center to chip away at the Spider Bot's health meter. Keep an eye out for Bombs left behind by destroyed enemies. There are many of them, and successfully hitting the pink memory core with Bombs is the most efficient way to take out the Spider Bot. Also, if you haven't learned to use your Arwing's brakes yet, this is a good time to learn. Follow the on-screen directions to do so ("R-trigger" for me). This provides you with some space between you and the Spider Bot so you can get a few extra shots into it. Finally, note that if you don't hit the pink core during one of its "openings" the Bot will charge up and toss a blue beam your way. Simply avoid it and try again.

Silver Medal Strategies

To earn the required points necessary to gain a Silver Medal, you need to be a combo master. You must string together one combo from the beginning of the level to where you enter the control center. To do this, ignore the hermit crab enemies (big balls). They only take up time. Also, be sure to use your ground boost to get from one place to another as fast as possible. In the control center, you'll, most likely, lose your combo. Build up what you can, and keep it as you move into the flying stage. While you're flying, there's no reason you should lose your combo. Be sure to look for ground enemies to take out as you're flying to get the combo as high as possible. When fighting the boss, only use Bombs. Three hits will do the job.

Gold Medal Strategies

Hits take priority over time here, and you need a much larger combo than was necessary to earn the Silver Medal. Also, since enemies are a bit tougher, I suggest starting with the easternmost target first, then working your way around counterclockwise. I suggest this only because the easternmost target has a couple of the hermit crab attackers protecting it. If they knock you out of your Landmaster, you'll, most likely, lose your combo, and it's better that happens at the beginning, than at the end. If this does happen, start over, as you need a massive combo. The best way to protect yourself from being hit by these enemies is to place yourself between them as you are shooting the target. They'll miss you if you position yourself right.

From here, continue around to the targets, shooting everything in your way. This time, I did take out the hermit crabs, excluding the two guarding the first target. Also, once the third target was eliminated, I continued to look for enemies to destroy, rather than heading straight for the control center. This explains the difference in personal scores between Silver and Gold. Before entering the control center I had a 176 combo.

After entering the control center, your strategies remain the same as they were defined for obtaining the Silver Medal. Just take out the boss as fast as you possibly can, and you'll get the necessary score.

Mission 4 Flag Locations

1. From your starting position, look for the small tower east of you (it's at the base of the N/S bridge). Aim at the base of its north side and look for the sweet spot. Shoot away to unveil the Flag.

2. From the first flag, drive north to the bridge. Here will be two light posts. Shoot just above the left one to reveal the Flag.

3. Check your map and locate the circular plateau between the north and east power generators. In the middle of this plateau is a crystal. Shoot at the base of the crystal to reveal the Flag.

4. From the eastern power generator, face west and locate the tunnel. Aim at the ground of the tunnel to locate the lock-on spot. Lock-on and shoot away.

5. Take aim at the top of the control center's west door. Shoot to reveal the Flag.

Mission 5
Asteroid Belt: The Aparoid Menace

Here we're back to guided flying missions. Just let the game carry your forward, and shoot anything that gets in your way. Surviving the level comes down to getting to know the level. Shoot the brown asteroids to clear them from your path. Protect Falco as he gets chased by enemies. If you save him he'll drop a Bomb off for you later. Save the bomb and use your normal powered-up shots to take care of the first enemy. Simply shoot and roll out of the way of its missile attacks.

After passing through the targeted asteroids you'll encounter some beams. Blast the beams' bases to pass through unscathed, then protect Krystal. Next, use your brakes to wait for an opening as the asteroids in front of you bounce off one another. Once you pass through the asteroids, Krystal (if you saved her) will drop of "Supplies" (ship health) for you. Collect it, then continue shooting what pops up in front of you.

Upon changing directions and moving along the front side of the base, be prepared to protect Falco, as you don't have much time to do so. After protecting Falco, you'll meet another larger enemy, the aparoid infected prototype. You can use a bomb on him if you want, although I suggest saving all bombs for later. Instead, shoot at him with locked-on and powered-up charges when he exposes his body to you. If you have trouble with him, you can simply focus on avoiding its attacks, as he'll go away on his own. After dealing with him, prepare yourself to protect Slippy.

After dealing with Slippy, the door in front of you will close. Here you'll be guided to the left where you'll find a narrow passageway. Carefully guide your craft through it, then make your way through the moving "arms". To get through them unharmed, fly left, then low, then high, then left and low, then brake and go high, then high. From here, simply shoot your way forward until you get to your enemy.

Boss Fight: Pigma's Ship

Pigma's ship has many "tentacles". The tentacles are dangerous as they can shoot missiles your way, and they can actually smash you, themselves, causing much damage to your ship. They will only do this when positioned near the center, so there's no need to worry about the tentacles dangling along the outside (you can't damage them until they come into position anyway). So, with that being said, go ahead and charge up your weapon while you wait for the tentacles to come into place. Eventually, two tentacles will fold over and come to the center, providing you with a target. Shoot them at this time. If one exposes its two rows of red dots, this means it's about to shoot missiles at you. Shoot it, then roll out of the way.

When you've damaged the tentacle, it will show you a "head" with five red dots. This is your opportunity to destroy the tentacle. Shoot away at the head to blow it up (rapid shots do the job best). Note, this is also the form the tentacle is in before it smashes you. If you see some circles emerging from the head, it's charging up for the smash. Shoot at it until the last second, then roll out of its way. Continue with this process until all of the tentacles have been removed.

Once you've knocked all of his tentacles off, the Pigma ship will show its central face. Avoid the missiles and shoot at the face. Watch its health meter disappear as you do. When the meter almost runs out, the ship will momentarily cover up the face. When it emerges again, it's going to shoot a damaging pink beam your way. Try your best to evade it (flying high is your best shot), then use any bombs you have to finish him off.

Silver Medal Strategies

Do your best to get to the final boss without dying so that you have your blue double blasters working for you. Otherwise, learn the groupings of enemies and the glowing blue pods and get as many group bonuses as possible.

Gold Medal Strategies

Basically, do what you did for Silver, but do it better. The only tip for Gold is to kill the first mini-boss as quickly as possible so that you'll maximize the number of groups of blue spike pods that come out just after you kill the first mini-boss. You'll notice the quicker you kill him the more groups you'll get. I was able to get five or six groupings of the blue spike pods which is a lot of extra hits. Otherwise, make sure to boost whenever you can to cut down on your time. Your time bonus here is important.

Mission 5 Flag Locations

1. After fighting the first "mini-boss" enemy, you'll be ambushed by several waves of attackers. At one point there will be four ships on the screen. Immediately following the four ships, you'll have to face some odd creatures with pinkish strings hanging from them. The first Flag is inside the top ship in that group of four ships before the pink stringed attackers.

2. After facing the pink string enemies, you'll encounter some asteroids which the game targets for you. Be sure to blast the last one to reveal the 2nd Flag.

3. After saving Falco as you climb the side of the base, you'll face the aparoid infected prototype. As you move along, watch the ground. There will be a purple blob-like structure to the left (its an aparoid infection). Shoot at it to reveal the Flag.

4. After dealing with the aparoid infected prototype, two ships will appear in front of you. Destroy the left ship to collect the Flag inside.

5. After collecting Flag number 4 you'll enter a room with many blue structures on the ground. There's also an aparoid infection to the right. Shoot it and capture the Flag.

Mission 6
Sauria: Reunion

This is quite a fun area as it's fairly large and there are many powerful items around. Search inside and on top of the many ruins for items, and also be sure to check out the tunnel system beneath the large eastern tower (look for the entrance by the Arwing). Your goal is to destroy the hatchers in the area, as indicated by red dots on your radar and map. Again, remember, if the dot is large, you're on the same plane as the target. If it's small, you're not. Be sure to check inside, along the walls, and on the ceilings of the ruins for the targets. I also suggest getting to the targets by driving the Landmaster. It just makes things easier.

Watch the might gauge at the top of your screen. If it fills up that means the skies are overrun by the enemy, and you will fail your mission. So, keep an eye on the sky and use your H. Launcher, the Landmaster or, even, the Arwing to maintain the skies, and to protect your friends in the skies. Press and hold "X" to land the Arwing. Note, to take the largest chunk out of the meter, take out the large ships with the huge circular pods attached to them.

If you have problems locating any of the targets, view the map at the beginning of the game, and locate the targets according to direction (remember, this is for the Bronze level). There are five. Number two is in the NW ruins, attached to the ceiling. Number two is to the west and is obvious in placement. Number three is to the SW. This one is a little deceiving as the red dot is large, even when you're on the wrong plane. The third target is actually on the roof of the ruins, beneath the turret gun.

Targets four and five are to the east, and both are located in the tunnel system beneath the large eastern tower (again, locate the Arwing then find the tunnel entrance just south of it). Once in the tunnel system, use the map to guide you to both targets.

Once you've destroyed all of the targets, the level will be complete.

Silver Medal Strategies

Per usual, the key to earning a Silver Medal is about stringing a together a combo throughout the level. You can get one here, from beginning to end, as long as you solidly know the placement of all of the targets. There are three more here than in the Bronze Level. Targets one, two and three remain the same. Target four is in the tunnel system beneath the ruins where target three is attached (if you drop off the front side of the ruins to the bottom, along the river, the entrance to the tunnel will be right in front of you. Targets five and six take the place of "four and five" from the bronze level (in the other tunnel system, beneath the large eastern ruins). Target seven is on top of the large eastern ruins, near Krystal , attached to the back side (Krystal may actually take this one out for you). And target eight is along the ground path, on the east side of the eastern ruins. I ended up with a combo of 101. I lost it right before hitting the last target, but the timing didn't affect my hits much.

Once again, in order to earn this medal, you'll have to string together one combo through the entire level. With 12 targets this time around, stringing together the combo requires a little rearranging of the order in which you hit the targets. Here's what I did.

Hop into the Landmaster and drive left, in the river. Continue under the bridge and take out the enemies who appear in front of you. Hang a left again and find the trail leading to the NE temple. Before entering the temple, take out the three bombers attached to the cliffs to your right. When those have been eliminated, lift yourself up to the NE temple. Eliminate the aparoids and the target. Pass through and repeat on the next temple (this was target one previously). Exit out of the temple and make your way to the target alongside the river, to the west (this was target two previously). Once that's been taken care of, continue SW along the river, to the end. Don't drop off the massive waterfall, or you'll die. Place yourself on the right bank of the river, take out the three bombers across the way, then, locate the new target attached to the side of the waterfall beneath you, where the bombers were. Cross the river, then move along the path to the left.

Once you pass under the bridge, shoot what's in front of you, then, exit your Landmaster, then make your way through the tunnel to the right to locate the fifth target. Return to your Landmaster, then hover your way up to the top of the SW temple. Eliminate the target here. When this area has been cleared, you should shoot a few enemies in the sky. Target and lock on to ensure you'll hit them. Once your sky meter's down enough, continue over to the tunnel system beneath the large eastern tunnel and hit the two targets here. Exit out, return to your Landmaster, then hover your way up to the top of the eastern tunnel. Target 9 is located between the many turret guns shooting at you.

Again, it's possible Krystal has taken out the 10th target for you, which is on the backside of the eastern temple, attached to the top of a doorway. If not, eliminate it yourself, then move into the small ruins behind the temple and take out target eleven. Finally, make your way over the ledge to the east and take out the final target. I ended with a combo of 163.

Mission 6 Flag Locations

1. Beneath the waterfall at the westernmost spot of your map. Shoot to reveal it.

2. On the first floor of the south temple is an indented section of floor. Aim at the bottom of it and shoot away to reveal the Flag.

3. Exit the south tower and run east, along the dirt path. This will bring you to another small tower. Just before climbing the stairs, look right and notice the ruined pillars. Shoot at the one to the right, then collect the Flag.

4. Climb to the roof of the large east tower, then climb the small pyramid in the NE corner. Shoot at the ground to reveal the Flag.

5. Also in the tunnel system, but you can't access it via the normal tunnel entrance. Instead, from outside the tunnel system, look at your map and go to the easternmost bridge leading to the large east tower from the south. At the north side of the bridge is a blue turret droid, of sorts. Destroy it to reveal a tunnel. Go all of the way down the tunnel and shoot at the door at the end to reveal the flag.
