Mission 7
Corneria: War Comes Home

Your goal here is to eliminate the barrier devices, each one high up in the sky. Go ahead and collect the Sniper Rifle in front of you, the look north. Note the droid structure in the sky. This is a barrier device. Since you're close to the device, the "barrier" is working, producing a green haze on your map and radar, rather than a red dot. Aim your Sniper Rifle at it to get its attention. When it wakes up and reveals its eye, shoot the eye before it sends its attack your way. Roll out of the way to avoid the attack, if necessary. Simply run around the area, collecting and killing as you go, taking these devices out of the sky. Let the red dots guide you, then know you're very close when the dot turns to haze. Feel free to climb the various structures to get a good shot at the barriers, and don't forget to protect your friends as you're running around.

Once you've taken out all of the barriers, make your way to the Arwing. Climb to the top of the indicated building (use your map), and you'll get a cutscene. You will next find yourself on Wolf's wing. Like the last time your rode someone's wing, watch your radar for blue arrows and orange dots, and eliminate them as they come. Also, be sure to watch your back for incoming missiles. Hit them before they hit you. To get your Combo score up, be sure to hit anything you see on the ground, too. Simply survive the ride and you'll eventually come to a cutscene.

Boss Fight: The General's Flagship

You are still riding Wolf's wing. Continue using your P. Cannon, as this fight is all about constant shooting. Since you can't move nor dodge, you have to destroy all attacks before they get to you. Take aim at anything the General's Flagship tosses your way, including its personal attack. When it comes close to you, shoot it in the "head" before it strikes. Also aim for the head when you see it creating one of its "sonic ball" attacks. If you hit it hard enough, it will stop in the middle of the process. If you fail, you have to count on luck in avoiding the sonic ball, since, again, you can't move. Use any time you have when you are not defending yourself to shoot a constant stream of ammo into the Flagship's head, damaging the Flagship. Really, this boss fight is just a matter of keeping "Shoot" pressed while primarily aiming at the boss. Not too tough.

Silver Medal Strategies

This was one of the easiest Silver Medals to obtain. I, actually, earned it on my first try. This time there are 9 targets in the sky. Find them as you did on the Bronze level, and shoot a few enemies in between. I started with the barrier device directly in front of me, then I worked my way around in a counterclockwise motion. No significant combos are necessary on the ground. Although, one major combo is necessary while you're riding Wolf's wing...but this isn't tough. I obtained a 108 combo in the air.

Gold Medal Strategies

Again, this medal isn't too tough to obtain. That is, once you get the placement of all of the barriers, it's not too tough to obtain. I suggest doing an initial scouting mission or two (or three) to locate the placement of the targets first. Once you have them down, hit them all as fast as you can, and don't worry about any combos on the ground. Try to hit whatever is in front of you, but don't worry about combos.

I used my same counterclockwise pattern here, with one exception. After hitting the barrier directly in front of me, I ran left. Run past the building to your left. Note the ramp running low to the right and high to the left in front of you. Get near the base of this ramp and look up. Here you will find a barrier target. Take it out (you may want to take out the cannon behind you for health reasons first), then, return to your starting position, then make your way around counterclockwise. This way, if you work your circle correctly, the last two targets will be between two yellow buildings in the SW. You can hit these targets from one of many ledges on the building where you ultimately grab the Arwing. This makes the process quite fast.

Once you are on the wing of Wolf's ship, everything else remains the same as before, but, you take a lot more damage than before. So, do what you can to take enemies down before they touch you. This goes double for the boss. Note, in the air I obtained a 124 combo.

1. From your starting position, turn around and run south. To the right is a ramp leading up to the top of the Lunastone Hotel. Move to the top of the ramp, then aim your weapon directly at the "Lunastone Hotel" sign across the way. Shoot to reveal the Flag.

2. Check your map and move to the central structure. Look at it as a circle broken into quadrants. Move to the SW quadrant and locate the building. Get up to the roof of the building via the south ramp. On the roof, aim at the northernmost spot of the roof to reveal the flag.

3. Using the same central circle and quadrants, locate the Ward Offices in the NW quadrant. Get all of the way to the roof and locate the sweet spot on the west section of the roof. Shoot to reveal the Flag.

4. Look at your map again and not the four rectangular structures to the NE. Make your way over to them (they're red and industrial looking). Run up the ramp leading to the SE structure (take out the enemies), then note the bridge leading to the SW structure. Aim your weapon across the way to pick up the Flag's position (a bit right). Shoot away, then retrieve the flag.

5. After taking out all of the barriers, you will be given the position of the Arwing. Locate that building and start climbing it. Before the ramp to the second level (not including the base level), you will find a Flag spot just right of it. Shoot away to reveal the Flag.

Mission 8
Orbital Gate: Incoming

Begin this mission by simply shooting at any and every enemy ship in front of you. Balance this with protecting Slippy and Krystal when they ask for protection. Eventually you'll get a cutscene telling you a missile is on its way. At this point, drop what you're doing and make your way to the missile, indicated by the red arrow on your map and radar. On your way there, more missiles will spring up. You need to figure out which one is your priority, determined by which one is closest to the space station. Upon locating that missile, lock-on to it and send a powered-up shot its way. Repeat this process until all missiles have been destroyed. As you get farther along you'll have to take out some stronger missiles with pink fronts. Aim at the pink until it blows.

When you've destroyed all of the missiles you'll get another quick cutscene. A mega-missile is on its way, and its comprised of three parts. Make your way to it by using your radar. Get behind it and shoot at its backside first. Don't forget to use your brake for control. When the back falls off, fly to either side and take aim at the pink middle. When the second section falls off, move to the front to destroy the front tip. This will destroy the last section and complete your mission.

Silver Medal Strategies

There is one strategy in earning medals in this level, and that strategy is to get the largest combo you possibly can. Use the two minutes at the beginning to take out as many as you possibly can...without ever losing the combo. Look for the double-laser power-up near where you start in order to take out these enemies quickly. You should be able to maintain the combo, at least, through the second wave of missiles (longer for Gold). In earning a Silver Medal, I had a max combo of 99. In earning a Gold Medal, I had a max combo of 171.

There are more targets in the Silver level, and even more in the Gold. Simply get to know their placement and take them all out before they hit the base. Also, get familiar with your c-stick flip, as you'll need it to escape from damaging enemies.

Time is not much of a factor in determining score, as, to complete the level, you must get to each missile in a set amount of time.

1. You start off facing a gate (the structure to the west if you're looking at your map). Shoot the bottom prong to reveal the Flag.

2. Fly into the space station. Exactly in the middle of it you will spot the top of a pillar-like structure. Shoot the top of it to reveal the Flag.

3. Beneath the base of that same pillar is an enemy. Shoot it to reveal the Flag.

4. The southern section of the space station has a tunnel running through it. Pass through the tunnel from the inside, and shoot toward the outside to reveal the Flag.

5. From inside the space station, fly to the top and aim at the top of the west section. This will reveal the final Flag. If you have trouble finding this one, then, from the beginning, simply turn around and shoot directly in front of you. You will automatically target the sweet spot.

Mission 9
Aparoid Homeworld: Breaching the Defenses

Here we have your final ground mission, so appreciate it! As usual, you have some targets to destroy. So, from the beginning, take aim at the yellow sphere in front of you and destroy it and any enemies it produces. Move forward and note the door in front of you. If you want a Gatling Gun, hang a right or left and find it along the circular path surrounding the area to which the door leads. When you're ready, move through the door.

Once inside, go downstairs only if you want hit points. Otherwise it's pointless. Instead, go up the opposite ramp, wiping out enemies as you go. Continue up to the top where you'll find a door, a few enemies, your hatcher target (red dot), and three yellow shield generators (orange dots). You must destroy each of the shield generators before you can destroy the hatcher. Do so and pass through the door and move down the NW hall.

Eliminate the enemies in the hall, and move into the end section. Eliminate the shield generator to your left, equip something strong (I like the Sniper Rifle) then move up the ramps. Clear out the enemies and the shield generator here, then move up the next ramp. Again, eliminate the enemies, eliminate the shield generator, then locate the hatcher on the ceiling and destroy it.

Now, backtrack all of the way to where you started the level, and, note, your Landmaster parked alongside the Arwing. Use it to clear the area outside the SE entrance, and to blast through the SE entrance, itself, then pass through. This time, the shields and hatcher are at the bottom of the structure. Make your way to the bottom, blowing as you go, then destroy any and everything at the bottom. When this is done, move up the ramps to the top, take out the enemies you care to destroy, then move through the SE door.

Again, make your way down the hall, destroying what's in front of you. You'll move up a ramp at the end of the hall. Eliminate the enemies and the shield generator here, then gear up and move down the ramp to the right. Take out the droids and the shield generator in the corner, then move down the next ramp. Here you will find more enemies, one more shield generator, and the last hatcher. With all four hatchers destroyed, you will get a cutscene. More red targets will appear on your radar. These are all attached to the bottom of the base.

Make your way back to the center of the base and hop in the Arwing. First, protect Falco from his attackers, then use your radar to guide you to the attached targets on the base's underside. Eliminate them to complete the level.

Silver Medal Strategies

The Silver Level has a couple more targets than did the Bronze Level. These are located in the NE and SW structures. Move through the first part of the level as you did for Bronze, then drive your Landmaster to either one of the two new targets.

Krystal is outside the entrance to the NE structure. Help her and take out the surrounding enemies. Eliminating the hermit crab enemy provides you with a very useful Gatling Gun. Use it after blasting open the entrance to the area. Use your map to locate the shield generators. When you find yourself "trapped", whip out your Gatling Gun and use it to take out the many enemies which appear before you. When you come to halls lined with turret guns, use your grenades to clear them out. This also helps you with your combo. You shouldn't need much of a combo to get the Silver Medal (I had a 36), but they help. Once you've located all of the shield generators, locate the hatcher target and take it out.

The SW target entrance is located up a level. So, drive down the ramp to the SW hermit crab, take him out for his Gatling Gun, then move up either of the two pink ramps in front of you. At the top you'll need to fight a few more enemies and blast through the door. Do so. Inside, repeat the same process used in taking out the NE target (use your Gatling Gun when trapped and use Grenades to clear out halls). When you've taken out all of the targets, make your way to your Arwing and simply shoot down the hatchers as you did before.

Note, this medal wasn't too difficult in obtaining. If you fail the first time, I'd suggest focusing on combos and hits before worrying about your time bonus. A five minute difference only gave me a forty point difference.

Personal Scores:

After eliminating the first round of hatchers:

End of Level:
28'44"

Gold Medal Strategies

Again you'll have a couple more targets. However, there's nothing tricky about their placement. They are each located in the original NW and SE structures. What's more, they have no shield generators protecting them, and they are both in the first sections of those NW and SE structures. The new targets are not what makes earning this medal difficult. It's staying alive while eliminating these eight targets, and it's earning the necessary hits and combos while doing so. I had three combos over 50 (Max combo was 54), which helped the score a lot.

The first combo I earned is at the very beginning of the level. I hopped into the Landmaster and drove it SE, blasting as I went. However, I didn't go inside the SE structure. Instead, I ran around the outside of it, shooting the enemies pods in front of me, in order to build a combo. Then, I hopped back into my Landmaster and drove NW, taking out everything in front of me. Inside the NW structure I ran up the ramp (down is tempting, but it was easier for me to keep a combo if I went up first and left the downstairs hatcher for my exit). Upstairs, take out all of the enemies (and the hatcher), then continue through the hall. Once through the hall you should have a pretty decent combo. Do what you can to keep it as you work your way to the hatcher (although I lost it pretty fast after entering the second section of the structure. On your way back out, don't forget to eliminate the downstairs hatcher.

Back outside, run around the NW structure and collect the Gatling Gun. I needed it more for the SE structure than the NW. Drive SE, blast the door open and use your Gatling Gun to fight your way through to the targets. Use whatever path you desire here. I didn't have a large combo, as I was just trying to stay alive. Once you've eliminated the targets, return to your Landmaster.

Use the same directions provided in "Silver Medal Strategies" to hit the next two targets. As noted there, you can get some great combos by using your Gatling Gun and Grenades. Before entering the last chamber (SW or NE...it doesn't matter), drive around the ramps to eliminate all of the enemies. You need every last hit point, and the enemies will disappear once you've cleared out the last target.

Once you do clear the last target, again, find your Arwing and clear out the targets beneath the base. Take out as many enemies as you can while doing this. Before taking out the last target, you should have around 700 hits to safely earn a Gold Medal. So, if you don't have these hits, try to earn them here. Look for revealed double lasers and bombs to make this process faster. Once you're satisfied with your number, eliminate the last hatcher target.

Personal Scores:

After eliminating the first round of hatchers:

Mission 9 Flag Locations

1. From the center, run to the SE door. Instead of passing through, run around the circular path surrounding the SE section. Find the Flag spot in the middle of the back hall and shoot away to reveal the Flag.

2. In the bottom floor of the SE section of the base, where you destroy the fourth of the first group of hatchers, locate the Flag spot in one of the four corners.

3. Take the ramps up to the top of the SW section and blast open the door. Enter and take the path to the left (the south path), until you come to the trap. Take out the enemies, then locate the Flag spot in the small recess to the SE (look at your map, if necessary).

4. At the very top of the central structure. You have to be in your Arwing to get it.

5. Again, in your Arwing (although you can run up the ramps to collect it, if you prefer), fly to the top of the NE section of the base. Look down and see the green field. Shoot in the middle of it to reveal the Flag.

Mission 10
Homeworld Core: The Final Battle

It's your last mission, and it's a guided flying mission. You'll need to maintain control through this level, as there are many dangerous obstacles.

Begin by clearing what's in front of you. Powered-up shots are you best bet in clearing out many enemies. When you turn the corner, control yourself as you pass through the sliding obstacles. When you move down the next tunnel, be careful to avoid the large eye structure in front of you (if you power-up and shoot it in the center, you can eliminate many of the ships it tosses your way before they get to you), then quickly protect Slippy. Continue clearing out what's in your way.

You'll move through a room with blue spirals, then into a room with sliding obstacles. Feel free to brake to control yourself as you pass through them. Next, you'll come to a tunnel of purple rings, as obstacles will begin building themselves in front of you. Speed up and keep high and right. Continue along, and protect Krystal.

Be sure to grab the Bomb in the first room with the rectangular pink barriers, and be sure to keep it until the boss fight. After passing through the second room with the rectangular barriers, prepare to quickly save Falco for another Bomb. I suggest keeping all Bombs until the end, but if you need to use one, try it on the mini-boss who appears in front of you. As always, power-up, lock-on, and shoot. Repeat until he goes down. Continue with your powered-up shots to take out the masses of enemies who appear in front of you.

Look out for the shield that forms in your path. Locate the hole along the right side and move through it (shoot the hole for a Flag). Keep moving and quickly take out the next mini-boss who appears in front of you. It should only take one or two powered-up shots, so don't waste anything on him, but do make sure to take him out fast, as his attacks are dangerous. As you move, be sure to take out whatever turrets are attached to the side walls. This will prevent you from taking a lot of damage. Again, you'll have a closing shield. Speed up and aim for the opening a little up and a little right before it closes up on you.

Next up you'll come to some rotating blades. I found braking and keeping low and left to be the best way through them. After the rotating blades, closing blades will appear in front of you. Be careful here. I found the best way to get through them was to maintain my normal speed through the first few, then, about halfway through, I hit my speed boost it kept it pressed through the remainder of blades. If you fear them, they will hurt you. After the blades, you'll get to some new enemies, with their own spiraling blades. Their bodies won't hurt you, but the balls they shoot your way will. Avoid them as best you can, and focus on one at time with powered-up shots (if you have an extra Bomb, use it here). They're strong, so keep focused on avoiding their shots.

Boss Fight: Queen

In her first form, the Queen is in the middle of of a large room. Her body is covered by crystals. Avoid or destroy the enemies she emits, then blast through her crystals. When you spot the pink crystal attached to the front side of her body, shoot away. This will take health off her meter. Eventually, the Queen will stop spinning and will raise her arms. When this happens, fly away from her front side, as she's about to attack. Her attack consists of various pink beams that come out of her front side. If you line yourself up right, you can still hit the purple crystal from the side as she's emitting her beams. When the beams subside, return to her front side and continue shooting the crystal until it gets covered up again. When this happens, simply repeat the process until you run the Queen's meter out. Note, the Queen will occasionally put out a few crustacean creatures and a few bubbles. I found very few upgrades to be found within the crustaceans. However, if you pop the bubbles, then pop each formed bubble from the popped bubble, you will usually receive a useful item.

Next you'll be placed in another tunnel. The Queen is in front of you. Notice the four pink balls on her body. Shoot one and keep focused on it. Notice as a cover slips over the ball. Completely cover the pink ball, then move to the next ball. Repeat the process until all four balls are covered. This will cause a head of sorts to emerge from the Queen. Avoid its swinging attacks and beam attacks (rolling is your friend). When the beast settles down, shoot off its helmet (it only takes a couple shots), then notice the eye-like structure on the top of its head. Shoot at it and shoot fast. You don't want to make this battle last any longer than necessary. Notice the poisonous pods and missiles coming your way here, too. Shoot those in your way before they hit you. The poisonous pods often offer ship health when destroyed.

If the Queen survives the first attack in this form, you'll have to repeat the process, but you'll do it moving through a pink electrical field. Avoid the strong beams (they're almost white), or suffer the damage.

Once you run the second meter down, you'll be introduced to one last form, with one last health meter. Luckily, there are no tricks here. The entire body of the structure in front of you is vulnerable. Shoot and shoot fast. When it emits its green attack beam, brake so you don't get caught up in it. When it shoots flames your way, avoid them as you've avoided so many mega-beams in the past. If you have any bombs left, use them here, as its best to destroy her early, before her attacks destroy you. When the Queen goes down, the game is complete! Nice work. Now it's time to earn yourself some medals.

Silver Medal Strategies

There's not a whole lot to say here other than make sure to hit lots of groupings so you get the group bonuses. These include the various cannons lining the walls and shooting enemies in bunches. After the first mini-boss (the guy worth 7 hits) be sure to hit as many of the blue spike groups that you can. You should be able to get about 5 or 6 groupings if you kill the mini-boss quickly. As long as you survive, you should get the Silver Medal without much problem. Try to get to the final boss with at least 300 hits.

Gold Medal Strategies

This is very hard. It will take you a long time to string together a good run then you have to deal with the final boss. Make sure to reach the final boss with at least your green double lasers...blue double lasers is even better if you can manage it. After the mini-boss, while you're shooting the blue spike groupings be aware that a lot of enemies will be coming from behind. They'll try to damage you and knock off your wings, thus killing your double lasers. Do some spins to avoid them. Remember, getting to the end with good health and double lasers is half the battle. Also, there are some timing tricks that you should know regarding the obstacles. The first obstacle you reach, before the pink barrier room, the one with the pie-piece doors closing one after the other, is pretty easy to get through without getting hurt. Stay in the upper right of the tunnel. The first two doors will be closing in behind you. Between the second and third door, boost, and stay in the upper right. You'll get through no problem. The next two obstacles are the spinning gears tunnel followed by the half-doors (pac-man style) closing tunnel. To get through the first spinning gear tunnel you'll have to choose which path to take depending on the rotation of the gears: the upper right, lower right or left. You should be able to pass by the first few gears without changing your speed. After that, it'll take a few "brakes", and well-timed ones at that to get through unscathed. For the half-door closing tunnel, fly normally by the first two doors. Just after that second door, boost and you'll have a good chance of getting through OK. This doesn't always work, so adjust the timing of your boost and find the best place to do it.

When you get to the final boss, the armored Queen stage is first. In this stage, if you don't have at least double green lasers and at least half of your health, you may as well start over. The double lasers are imperative to blast through her armor. You do have a chance in this area to stock up on a few items if you shoot the bubble enemies then shoot all of the smaller bubbles that spawn. Usually you'll get a bomb, but sometimes you'll get some health and maybe a double laser. Although it is good to go into the final battle with at least 3 bombs, destroying the bubbles takes up lots of time, but it may be worth it if you're low on health. While blowing up the bubbles, be sure to keep an eye on the Queen to make sure that she doesn't shoot her pink rays at you.

When it comes to the pink eye stage of the boss, well, all I can say is good luck. You'll be throwing your controller and perhaps swearing a good deal in this part. You have to go through three stages of the pink eyes. The first two stages are pretty easy, but hitting the third set of pink eyes is difficult. Remember to take your time and aim steadily at the pink eyes. If the pink lightning comes your way, ignore the boss while it's going on and concentrate on not getting hit. Also, keep in mind that you can launch a bomb at the eyes and you may get lucky and hit a few of them, helping you to close them. If you're lucky, your teammates will last long enough to give you a health. To help them last longer, shoot the mines as best as you can or knock down the health meter quickly so that the boss will go back to its pink eye stage thus allowing your teammate at the time to give you the health.

For the final boss, shoot any bombs you have at it, fire rapidly at it, avoid the destructive ray, and when the green sonic tunnel is created, break and stay in it. You need to work quickly in this stage or he'll kill you.

Mission 10 Flag Locations

1. After your first sharp turn, you'll move down a tunnel system with sliding objects, then you'll move down into another tunnel. An "eye" will be in front of you. Shoot at its center to reveal the first Flag.

2. After the first Flag, you'll continue forward through the glass tunnel. At the end of the tunnel you'll see three green turret structures attached to the sides. Shoot where the fourth would be to reveal the Flag.

3. After the first mini-boss, and after the many enemies who appear after it, a shield will appear in front of you. Shoot through the opening along the right side to reveal the Flag.

4. As you pass through the rotating blades, there's a turret structure on the ground, through the first blade, to the left. Destroy it to reveal the Flag.

5. After making it through the massive blades, and before you make it to the Queen, you'll come to some enemies with their own blades attached to them. They shoot the sonic balls your way, and they are tough to take out. The final Flag is located inside one of these ships. The ship that it's in will take the position all of the way right, toward the middle. Destroy it and collect your last Flag!
