4. Galactic Conquest - Birth of the Rebellion

NOTE ON GALACTIC CONQUEST
Galactic Conquest is a fun single player campaign where you have to fight from planet to planet in a quest to conquer all planets. There are 8 different versions of this mode based upon various conflicts from the history of Star Wars. In some of the battles you can choose which faction you'd like to be associated with. In others, you can't choose.

The point of this mode is to win two battles in a row on each planet. Doing so will unlock that "Planet's Bonus" which you can then choose to use. For example, "Jedi Hero," bonus means that either Luke or Vader (depending on your side) will join you in battle. The Jedi is invincible and is a big help. Another example is "Elite Training". Choosing this bonus means that your troops are more accurate and better trained. As you progress through the map, you'll unlock more and more bonuses for your selection pleasure.

When you win four battles (doesn't have to be consecutive) you can use a special bonus, which for me, was that I was able to win an entire planet of my choosing without having to fight any battles.

The maps in Galactic Conquest are basically rehashes of maps that you already played in "Historical Campaign". They are simply jumbled around and a map that you may have played as a good guy, you're now playing as a bad guy.

That being said, there is really no point in writing out each of the 8 Galactic Conquest scenarios as I have already detailed the strategies for each map in the "Historical Campaign" and you probably already have your own strategies by now. I did however write out the first "Galactic Conquest" scenario, "Birth of the Rebellion," just so you'd get an idea of what it entails.

Bespin - Platforms

Recommended Planetary Bonus: Yavin 4 - Elite Training

Beginning Command Posts: Dock, Command, Fuel

200 vs. 200

Recommended Starting Point/Soldier: Command/Rebel Soldier

Summary
In this battle, you're simply looking to completely annihilate the enemy by taking their numbers down to zero. While you can start out flying around in an X-Wing or Y-Wing, I recommend not using any vehicles and simply taking the middle route and having an all out fight on the central bridge. Doing it this way I won 98-0. Please note, if the enemy selects to have Vader as their advantage, simply quit and start over. Vader is invincible and will really frustrate you, especially in this battle.

Detail
Start out at the "Command" command post. Head to the middle connecting bridge and take control of the neutral command post, "Extractor". If you run there, you won't have any problem taking control of it. From there, continue forward along the central bridge. You'll start to be attacked by waves of enemies. Allow some fellow rebels to go ahead of you to take the fire and stay back a bit. Shoot any and every enemy that you see. Do your best to slowly make progress toward the enemy's middle command post. There are going to be lots of grenades so keep an eye out for those. If you die, simply respawn at the "Extractor" command post and continue.

After a while of intense fighting, taking cover, and killing lots of enemies, you'll eventually see that their numbers have significantly dwindled. You'll also begin to hear that your fellow rebels are starting to take control of the various enemy command posts. You don't have to actually take control of any enemy command posts yourself. If you stay in and around the central bridge area you'll simply be able to kill them all one by one and victory will be yours.

Bespin - Cloud City

Recommended Planetary Bonus: Yavin 4 - Elite Training

Beginning Command Posts: Rear Entrance, Rear Flank

200 vs. 200

Recommended Starting Point/Soldier: Rear Flank/Rebel Soldier

Summary
The basic gist of this battle is to start at the "Rear Flank" command post and, staying up above on the platforms, work your way to "The Walkway" command post (the SE command post), then to the "Forward Flank" command post (the East command post). Once you have these two command posts taken, you'll be able to go down the ramp and take on "The Courtyard" command post (South central command post).

Start at the "Rear Flank" command post. Head East down the hallway and, like the previous battle on Bespin, let a few fellow rebels go on ahead of you. Follow them and shoot anything moving at the end of the hall. Take cover when necessary and slowly but surely make your way to the enemy command post. Do alot of strafing to avoid enemy fire. At the end of the hallway you'll see the red beam of light marking the command post that you want to overtake. As you approach it, be careful in the open, uncovered bridge area because you'll be susceptible to enemy fire from elsewhere. When near it, hold your ground and take control of it. This is "The Walkway".

From here, head North to the circular area taking out enemies and working toward the next command post. Soon enough, you'll have taken control of "The Forward Flank" command post. From here, continue and go down the ramp taking out enemies as you go. You'll soon be on ground level. You'll want to start heading to the South central command post, "The Courtyard". You can do this by heading South, along the East wall, and coming in behind or to the side of the command post. Take out any enemies along the way and try to get control of the command post quickly.

By this time, the enemy's numbers should be very depleted, probably under 20 or so. Also, your fellow rebels will most likely have taken control of the other command posts. So, either kill off the last enemy or take control of "The Courtyard" command post to win. I was able to win 89-0 using this method.

Naboo - Plains

Recommended Planetary Bonus: Yavin 4 - Elite Training

Beginning Command Posts: Red Dust, Heads

200 vs. 200

Recommended Starting Point/Soldier: Red Dust/Rebel Soldier

Summary
In this battle you'll want to get to "The Center" command post. It's the neutral command post in the center of the map. Get there as quickly as you can by starting at "Red Dust" and grabbing any sort of vehicle/animal that you can. Once in the middle, defend this position until enough of your fellow rebels are around to protect it, then head out to the other two enemy command posts and dominate them.

Detail
Start at "Red Dust". Here you will find a Kaadu (dinosaur) or a Combat Speeder that you can ride. Hop on/in and get to the neutral command post in the middle of you map, "The Center". Take control of it while you fend off any enemies. Stay there, protecting it, until you feel you have enough men there to protect it without you.

From there, run to the South enemy command post, "The Command". Take out the enemies around the area and capture the command post. At this point, the enemy numbers should have dwindled to under 20. Continue to hunt down enemies and/or go after the final command post, "The Pillars," for victory. I won this one 47-0.

Naboo - Theed

Recommended Planetary Bonus: Yavin 4 - Elite Training

Beginning Command Posts: Plaza, Rotunda, Embassy

200 vs. 200

Recommended Starting Point/Soldier: Plaza/Rebel Soldier

Summary
This is a fairly easy one. Start at the Plaza and grab a Combat Speeder behind you. Work your way to each of the three enemy command posts taking out enemies with your primary and secondary weapons on the Combat Speeder. You'll get a gang of fellow rebels to follow you and you can lead the way.

Detail
Start at the "Plaza". Grab a Combat Speeder. Head South to the "Office" command post. Clear the way of enemies using the Combat Speeder. Don't forget to use the secondary weapon (missiles). As you clear the area around the command post, your fellow rebels will swoop in behind you and take control of it. Then, head on out to the next command post to the East, the "Palace". Again, clear a path using the Combat Speeder and topple that command post. Repeat this until you have all of command posts of you kill everybody.

If your Combat Speeder is destroyed do your best to find the enemy's version of the Combat Speeder, a combat tank of sorts, and hop in and continue to do damage. Throughout this level, you may lose some of your three original command posts. Don't worry about it. As you take over the enemy's command posts you'll do enough damage to their numbers that your guys will get them back.

Rhen Var - Harbor

At this point, you'll have won four battles. Choose to attack Rhen Var, and you'll automatically win the planet. You could have used this on any planet other than the enemy's Secret Base. I chose Rhen Var because it is next in line. Recommended Planetary Bonus: Yavin 4 - Elite Training

Beginning Command Posts: Plaza, Rotunda, Embassy

200 vs. 200

Recommended Starting Point/Soldier: Plaza/Rebel Soldier

Kashyyyk - Islands

Recommended Planetary Bonus: Yavin 4 - Elite Training

Beginning Command Posts: South Village, Village Center, North Village

200 vs. 200

Recommended Starting Point/Soldier: North Village/Rebel Soldier

Summary
This is kind of the opposite of the "Kashyyyk - Aggressive Negotiations" battle you fought in "Historical Campaign - Clone Wars." Before, however, you were the enemy, now you are the good guys. An easy battle.

Detail
Start in the "North Village" and work your way directly North to the enemy's command post, "East Harbor." Once you have that command post, protect it and kill off any enemies trying to cross the river/harbor. Soon enough, their numbers will dwindle and you'll have won.

Kashyyyk - Docks

Recommended Planetary Bonus: Yavin 4 - Elite Training

Beginning Command Posts: City Hall, Pier One, Pier Two

250 vs. 250

Recommended Starting Point/Soldier: Pier One/Clone Trooper

Summary
The key to this battle is to take the Southernmost, "Beach Head," command post. That will cut off the enemy's AAT (brown tank) and four-legged spider walker supply. You may die trying to take it, and if you do you should restart the mission. Once you have control of that command post the rest of the battle is a cake walk.

Detail
Start off on Pier One as a Rebel Soldier. Run down the bridge and use your commands to "Follow Me". Have at least one other guy with you. Take a look at your map. You'll be running South along the West side of the map toward the Southern command post. As you get near, you'll see several enemy Walkers (AT-STs) heading North. Watch as they go and swoop around from the side and when it doesn't look like there are any enemies near the command post run up to it. Keep an eye out for any spawning enemies while you wait for the command post to turn neutral and then green. If any enemies spawn, take them out quickly. You may die doing this and if you do, just restart and try again. You want to take the "Beach Head" command post without losing any lives.

Once you have control of the command post, protect it. From this command post you can respawn as a Rebel Marksman and pick off enemies far away on the landing beach.

You'll start to see the enemy's numbers dwindling. If you feel comfortable leaving the command post, work your way North and try to take either the East or West jetty command post or the central landing beach command post. Again, you'll probably die a few times trying so just respawn and continue to take out enemies.

If you like, you can simply stay at the "Beach Head" command post and your guys should have no problem winning. I won many times about 80-0.

Tatooine - Dune Sea

Recommended Planetary Bonus: Yavin 4 - Elite Training

Beginning Command Posts: Bluff, Homestead

250 vs. 250

Recommended Starting Point/Soldier: Bluff/Rebel Soldier

Summary
This is the opposite of the "Tatooine - Desert Extermination" battle in "Historical Campaign - Galactic Civil War". This time, you are the good guys. In this battle you'll want to take "The Cisterns" the middle yellow command post then head West to the other yellow command post, "Tusken Camp".

Detail

Start out at the Bluff and hop into an X-Wing. Fly near the middle yellow command post, "The Cisterns". Land and take it over from the Tusken Raiders. Protect "The Cisterns" from both the Sand People and the Empire. After the coast is clear, head West to the other yellow command post, "Tusken Camp". Again, take it over and protect it. You will see the enemy's numbers start to drop. Hop into a land speeder if you see one nearby and head to either of the red command posts and take them over. Soon, you'll have won the battle. I won about 20-0.

Tatooine - Mos Eisley

Recommended Planetary Bonus: Yavin 4 - Elite Training

Beginning Command Posts: Shops, Hangar, Cantina

250 vs. 250

Recommended Starting Point/Soldier: Bluff/Rebel Soldier

Summary
This is the opposite of the "Tatooine - Siege of Mos Eisley" battle in the "Historical Campaign - Galactic Civil War". This time you are the good guys. The basic gist here is to start at the "Cantina" and quickly take over the three enemy command posts working your way North.

Detail
Start in the "Cantina" with a Rebel Soldier. Head to the "Warehouse" command post to the East. From there, head North. You'll be in a street battle. Fight your way through and get to the "Housing" command post in the NE of your map. Hold down these two command posts, going to hot spots as necessary. I had no problem winning about 50-0.

Endor - Bunker

Recommended Planetary Bonus: Tatooine - Jedi Hero

Beginning Command Posts: East Trail, Village, Rebel Outpost

200 vs. 200

Recommended Starting Point/Soldier: Rebel Outpost/Rebel Soldier

Summary
This is the same battle (other than the fact that there are 50 less enemy) as "Endor - The Battle of Endor" in "Historical Campaign - Galactic Civil War". Please see that battle above for complete details.

Detail
See Summary.
