The guide was written based on the TR: L's "Medium" difficultly level. However, having played through the game on the hardest difficulty level, too, we can assure you that this guide will help you, no matter what difficulty you choose. Difficulty has everything to do with damage taken and damage inflicted on others, and has nothing to do with actual gameplay. Objectives and puzzles remain the same, no matter what the difficulty.
Please note, because this game is made for many consoles and the PC, and because each console has several controller configuration options, buttons will be referred to by their actions, as opposed to their names. With that being said, we played this game with "Default" controls and "Standard" combat mode. There will be small discrepancies in specific instructions if you choose to play with other configurations. Finally, if you choose to switch up the cameras (we're all about the inverted axis), go to Options > Camera. We tend to leave the X-axis alone, but flip both the Ys.
This game is full of checkpoints, meaning it autosaves for you as you move through the level (indicated by the word "Checkpoint" in the bottom right corner of your screen). So, if you die, the game will restart at the last checkpoint. What's more, these autosaves are maintained even if your console is shut off. This is not to say you shouldn't save the game on your own. To do so, go to the Pause Menu > Options > Save. When you start from the last save, you'll be taken to the last checkpoint. It's always a good idea to save your game and not depend fully on autosaves. It's an even better idea to save your game in different slots, just in case you encounter one of the very few (but disruptive) glitches found in this game. If you find a glitch, start from a previous save instead of starting the game over from the beginning.
Upon the completion of the game's storyline, you'll unlock Croft Manor AND you'll get the opportunity to replay any level. Return to levels to find missed rewards, or play the "Time Trial" difficulty to get through the level in the time provided. Collect all rewards (including those in Croft Manor) and complete every time trial to earn a 100% game completion and unlock all of Lara's costumes.
Finally, Tomb Raider: Legend is a fairly straightforward game when it comes to directions. There's nothing tricky about health, your meters, what things mean, etc. If you have a question beyond the scope of this introduction, chances are the answer is found in the walkthrough, when you first come across it. If you have any further questions, please post it in our Tomb Raider: Legend Help Thread and we'll see what we can do to help. However, if your questions are regarding the game's many cheats, we don't answer those, simply because we don't use cheats (not that there's anything wrong with that). If you're someone who enjoys using cheats, we always recommend Gamewinners.com, as they update their cheats regularly.
Enjoy the game! It's on the short side, but it's quite an enjoyable gaming experience.
