1. Introduction and Controls

Introduction

This "Tony Hawk's Underground" Walkthrough and Strategy Guide will take you through all 129 goals through all levels and 27 chapters on "Normal" mode. The easier modes are only easier and the "Sick" mode is only harder, but every goal remains the same. The guide also includes Secret Tape Locations, Special Tricks and Old Skool Icons. It does not contain a list of gaps. If you go to your pause menu in the game you will see a list of all of the gaps.

This walkthrough was written playing the Xbox version of the game. However, the Xbox, Playstation 2 and GameCube versions are identical, excluding, obviously, the controls. Luckily, THUG does an excellent job of telling you the controls for each and every trick as you go along. Through the strategy guide we do reference some Xbox controls specifically, but we do try to encompass all of the control configurations by referring to the buttons as "Grind", "Flip", "Grab" and "Jump". We do this because rarely in the game are the controls an issue (as they are displayed atop the screen), but the timing is. Our guide will teach you the timing of your tricks. Also, for the few discrepencies in controls, here's a breakdown of the skating controls for the three systems.

This guide does not include cheats nor codes, simply because we cannot answer any cheat code questions you may have. We didn't write the cheats and we don't use cheats. Finally, the guide is simply broken down into goals. Through the game you are supposed to skate around the area and look for the people with icons over their heads. They give you the goals. We preferred to simply go into our pause menu and select "View Goals". From here you can select your next goal. It's much easier than skating around and trying to find it.
