2 - To Paradise Falls
You start up on the ground. You can toggle between the two characters using the, "Switch Character" button (Z on Wii). Get familiar with your other controls like moving, swinging Carl's cane or Russell's backback (aka, attack), and jumping.
Follow the path and you'll see a pair-of-hands icon above a rock. This means that you can push it. Push against it to move it out of the way. Continue on the path until you get to a dead end. Here you'll see a vine covered wall. As Carl, jump up to the wall's ledge and you'll pull yourself up. On the platform, move to the right and use Carl's cane to pry the rock (on Wii, you can simply use "B" for this or follow the on-screen instructions to flick your Wii remote from right to left and then to shake it to pry the rock).
The rock will fall down into place and you can now step onto it to climb the ledge to its right. Once on the upper pathway, turn around and follow the on-screen prompts to lower your cane to help Russell get up.
Head right and you'll be told to switch characters. Do so as Russell is the only one who can shimmy across narrow ledges. As he shimmies, be ready for a button prompt to prevent him from falling.
On the far side, use Russell to push the rock down into the pit to the left. Switch back to Carl and have him drop down into the pit (ignore the prompt at the edge). Move him to the rock you just pushed down, jump onto it, and then jump up the ledge to join Russell.
Continue along the path, breaking objects as you go, and you'll reach a ledge where you'll need to use the house to float across a gap. When both characters get to the edge, you'll automatically take off. While floating, you can steer left/right. Try to steer through the coin balloons.
Up next is a see-saw catapult. Russell will automatically hop onto the see-saw. As Carl, hop up the nearby rocks. At the top, simply drop off (move toward the screen) and you'll fall down onto the see-saw, thus hurling Russell across.
As Carl, head over toward Russell and you'll see that he drops a handy rope for you to climb. Walk to the rope and push to the right to be pulled up.
Just past this area, at the bottom of the path is a bright red bird who serves as the MEMENTO
for this level.
Head along the path and you'll reach a large log. You can't get past it. Backtrack a tad and use Russell to drop down to the ledge below where he can shimmy on the narrow ledge past the log.
On the right side of the narrow ledge is the BRONZE ARTIFACT
Still as Russell, hop up and push the rock next to the log toward the back of the area. You'll be told that sometimes it takes both of you to push a heavy object. Return to Carl and have the both of you push the log out of the way.
Just past the log is another see-saw. Launch Russell and he'll grab a vine. You'll be told to move toward Russell. Do so, basically falling off the cliff, and he'll help you swing back and forth. When prompted, hit the jump button to release from Russell's grasp and land safely on the other side.
Head forward and you'll see that the path splits, one to the left and one to the right. Also note that there is a yellow "Tip" icon in the middle of this area telling you how to use Russell's water bottle by pushing right on the D-pad of your controller.
Head right first. You'll reach a rock that you'll need to pry using Carl. Do so and it'll drop down into the pit below. Drop down to grab the GOLD ARTIFACT
. Hop back up and switch to Russell. You can shimmy along the back wall of this area. Do so and you'll be told that Russell can use his keys to cut certain vines using the normal attack button (B on Wii). Push toward the back of the screen (so that Russell's back is to you) and repeatedly tap the prompted button (B on Wii) to cut the vine and thus lower the large rock to the left.
Switch to Carl and jump the gap to the rock that just lowered (or drop down into the pit and from the slightly raised platform jump to the same rock). Now both characters are together. Head around the path and push the boulder. It'll smash through one of the trees in the middle of where the path split.
What's more, the tree will release a few wasps
! There are two ways to deal with wasps. The first, as the game suggests, is to use either the bugle or hearing aid special ability
. Your special abilities are accessed via your D-Pad on your controller. First, though, you'll need to collect a special ability token. There are two brown circle icons in the area which signify Carl's hearing aid. For Russell, you'll see two yellow music note icons for his bugle.
Once these are collected you can use them by pressing left on the D-Pad and then left again to activate it. You'll see sound waves coming from your character and you can run around in the direction of a wasp to stun him. Once he's on the ground, squash him.
The second way to eliminate a wasp is to wait for it to rear back and attack you. You'll see a button prompt (B on the Wii) and if you hit it in time you'll knock the wasp down to the ground where you can squish him. If you miss the timing you'll have one tick of your health removed.
Either way, eliminate the two wasps and then head down the left path.
Before you have Carl jump up the vine ledge, hop up the rocks on the right to find the SILVER ARTIFACT
Now, have Carl jump up the ledge and then pull Russell up. Head to the see-saw and use it to send Russell to the vines. Walk toward Russell to swing across the gap. On the far side, head to the end of the path and you'll see a wall that Carl can grasp across a gap. Jump toward the vine wall and it'll crumble. This gives Russell room to shimmy across the narrow ledge at the back of the area.
With Russell now on the left, approach the ledge and use the prompt to lower down a rope for Carl to climb. Head to the end of the path and push the boulder. It'll smash through the second and final tree blocking the central path.
Hop down, collect all of the coin balloons and then hop over the tree stumps. Head along the path to finish the level.
