6. The Path to the Temple of Time - Temple of Time

Path to the Temple of Time

Lanayru Province

Castle Town

Head into town and the Postman will stop you to deliver two letters. After you read them, head for Telma's Bar. Once there, talk to Telma and she'll tell you that you should go see Rusl in the southern wood, aka, Faron Woods. Head over to the map on the table to have the location marked for you. Exit the bar.

Before you warp to Faron Woods, it's a good idea to learn a new Hidden Skill. Exit Castle Town via the south bridge. Go to the bottom of the stairs, then make a U-turn to the left. Continue along the wall until you reach the Golden Wolf. In order to learn this new skill you must first prove that you can do a shield attack. Do so and you will then learn the back slice. To pefrom it, Z-target your enemy, then push right or left on your control stick as you double tap "A". This will roll you directly behind your enemy. Immediately after the double tap, swing your sword. String this action together and you have a nice roll around the back slash attack at your disposal.

After you've learned your new skill run around the area until night falls. Move up on the stairs and you'll find a Poe. Collect the Poe's soul. You are now ready to move on. Warp to N. Faron Woods in Faron Province.

Faron Province

Faron Woods

Transform into human form and head north. You'll find Rusl on the slightly raised path on the right. He'll tell you about a temple found deep in the woods. He asks if you'll take on the task of going there. Of course you will! Choose "Yes" and he'll give you a very special golden chicken. No, this chicken does not lay golden eggs, but it is one heck of a flier.

Pick up the chicken and jump straight forward off of the platform where you and Rusl are standing. You'll want to land on the platform made by the tree (if you look at the path to the forest temple, this platform is under it). From here, jump NE and fly to the next platform hanging down from the same tree. Face SE and jump across the gorge to a rock platform and go through the tunnel.

In front of you is a wind bridge. Drop the chicken and equip your Boomerang. Target the windmill on the bridge and toss your Boomerang to turn the bridge (if you're having trouble targeting it, lock onto it with "Z"). Pick up the chicken and jump to the bridge. Once on the bridge, drop the chicken and rotate the bridge again. Next, jump past the swinging rocks and go through the tunnel.

Sacred Grove

Welcome back to Sacred Grove. The Skull Kid and his minions, the Leaf Dancers, are still here and continue to be a pain. One nice thing about navigating through the area this time, as opposed to last time, is that the Skull Kid's lantern will glow when you enter the correct area. If you don't see the glow, he's not there.

To get the chase started, move forward to trigger a scene with the Skull Kid. He opens a tunnel for you in this area. Go through it and stay along the path on the right where you'll see another tunnel. Go through it and you'll be in an area with a small ledge. Climb up the ledge and you'll find the Skull Kid behind the tree. Slash him and he'll run away.

Hop off the platform, hang a right, and go through the tunnel in front of you. Stay on the path and go through the next tunnel on the left. In this area you will find three tunnels. Go through the tunnel on the right. Here, you'll find two more tunnels, go through the one on the right. You'll soon see the Skull Kid on a platform in the water. Shoot him with an arrow and he'll go through the tunnel on the right. Follow him and you'll end up back in the deep water area.

Stay on the path, go past the first tunnel, and then go through the second tunnel. Continue on the path and go straight across through the next tunnel. You'll emerge in the shallow water/waterfall area. Stay to the right and go through the tunnel that splits the waterfall. Go straight across this area and you'll see two tunnels. Go through the one to the left. Once through, hang a right and go through the stone archway. Hang another right and go through the tunnel. Hang yet another right and go through the next tunnel. In front of you you'll see a sequence of ledges. Climb the ledges and go out onto the end of the tree branch. Look to the left and up to find the Skull Kid on the bare limb of a tree. Shoot him with an arrow.

Continue forward on the tree branch path and drop down to the ground. Continue forward and drop down into the arena pit.

In order to defeat the Skull Kid you must hit him three times with an arrow. This isn't exactly easy as he'll be bouncing around from platform to platform. Unlike before, however, you can shoot him at anytime, so take aim and go at it. After he's defeated, he'll open a door for you. Go through.

You'll end up outside the Temple of Time, not far from where you go the Master Sword. Push forward the block on the left. Drop down to the block and go through the door. Go forward and through the door to the north. Head up the stairs and go onto the platform where you received the Master Sword. "Strike" it and you'll insert the sword thus making the statue blocking the door above disappear. That is quite some sword you have there!

Exit and head back to where the statue disappeared. On the way you will encounter a barrier ring and five Shadow Beings. Transform to the wolf and take care of them to open a Portal. Then, climb up the block path that you created and go through the door where the statue disappeared. It seems you are in the same area, however, everything has a 1950's sepia tone to it...what the heck is going on?

Head down the stairs and make your way back to the Master Sword platform. "Strike" your sword again and a staircase will appear before you. Run up it (look out for Ooccoo and son) and move through the door at the top.

***Please note, this walkthrough was written for the Wii version of 'Zelda: Twilight Princess', however it will work for the Gamecube version, which is simply a mirrored version of the game. This means when we say "go left", you should go right, and when we say "go east", you should go west. The guide also offers controls specific to the Wii, however this is only done because the Wii controls are so new, and Gamecube gamers will have no trouble following the in-game controller instructions.

Temple of Time

Welcome to the Temple of Time. Move forward and Midna will tell you to use your Sense to look around. To the right of the door you'll see an empty space where a statue should be. You're on the hunt for another statue. Switch back to human form. With your back to the gold door, look forward and note the pear shaped weight on the right platform. Grab it and place it on the floor switch on the left platform. This will raise another platform below the stair case, allowing you to reach it. Climb it.

Speak with Ooccoo at the top of the stairs to collect him, then move down the other side. Ignite the two torches with your lantern, then collect the small key from the treasure chest. Return up the stairs and go through the door at the top.

Take out the spider, then place one of the surrounding vases on the floor switch in the middle of the room (if you've already destroyed the vases, exit, then return). This opens the first part of the gate. Collect the arrows from the treasure chest to the south, then move up the stairs to the west. At the next gate, turn around, then shoot the vase that you just placed atop the floor switch. It will shatter and the gate behind you will open up. Move through it and continue up the stairs. Fight the Lizalfos you encounter along the way.

Fight the Lizalfos in the next room, then approach the statue. It will move. Use your back slice skill to get behind it and shatter the jewel on his back (if you haven't learned the skill yet, use Ooccoo to warp to the south side of the castle stairs where you'll find the glowing wolf...this is all explained at the beginning of the "Path to Temple of Time" section). Once you shatter the jewel and destroy the statue, open the resulting treasure chest for the dungeon map. Next, collect the red Rupee from the other treasure chest in the room, then place the two pear statues on the floor switches. Move through the open gate and head up the stairs. Take out the bat and move through the door at the top.

As soon as you enter look left and note the Beamos. Move toward it to activate it (take out the Lizalfos who charge you as you approach), then shoot the Beamos in the eye with an arrow. Clear the area of Lizalfos and move up the stairs. Use your Spinner to clear the gap in the stairs and make your way to the top, where you will find a locked door. Move out onto the central platform (look out for the spinning spikes) and turn the lever. You will ride down into the electrified center of the room.

Take out all of the bugs to de-electrify the circle, then return to the central platform. Note the nearby pear weight. Pick it up and place it on the platform (but not on top of the lever, as I did that initially and wasn't able to get it back). Turn the lever and ride the platform back up.

Avoid the spinning spikes and run the pear weight to the floor switch to the south. Find the second pear weight on the west extension, then return to the floor switches. Stand on (or near) the white (lighter) floor rectangle behind the switches and place the weight. You will be raised up. Move through the door.

You'll be locked in this room. Take out the two glowing statues using the Back Slice technique to make a treasure chest appear. Open the treasure chest for a small key. If you want a red Rupee, open the south treasure chest. Otherwise, exit the room and go to the north side of the circular room and through the door using the small key.

In this room you'll see a diamond switch on the left and a Beamos in front of you. Take out the Beamos and then activate the diamond switch to shift the walls in the room. Follow the path and you'll see that you are blocked again. Stand on the circle in the middle of the floor (pretty much any time you see a circle on the floor from here on out it means you can shoot a diamond switch) and shoot an arrow at the diamond switch to shift the walls. Take out the next Beamos and then open the treasure chest in the alcove for the Compass. Go to the nearby circle and shoot an arrow at the diamond switch so that you can go up the stairs. Go up, taking out the two Lizalfos on the way.

In this room, stand in the circle and face the gold fence. Look above and to the right of the fence to find a red diamond switch on a raised platform. Shoot it to shift the walls. Take out the two Lizalfos (one is armored...the shield attack works well) and note the electrified fence. There is nothing you can do with that now. Shoot the diamond switch again. Take out the armored Lizalfos, shoot the switch one final time and go up the stairs. Go through the door at the top.

Kill all of the spiders and bugs in the room. Note the bugs will run away if you're swinging your sword like a wild man. Instead, stay still and draw them in then, do a swirl attack. When they're all dead a treasure chest will appear containing a purple Rupee. Head up the stairs and you will find the large gold scales. There is a pear weight on each of the scales. Step onto the first scale and it will lower. Pick up the pear weight and, from the middle of the platform, "Throw" the pear weight onto the second platform. To "Throw" the weight, either push forward and hit "A" or hold "Z" and then hit "A". This will level out the scales. Walk onto the second scale, which will drop, and then climb up the ledge and continue up the stairs. Go through the door.

There is a Beamos in the middle of the room surrounded by the worst enemy; the spinning spikes...they're so annoying. Take out the Beamos and then head west up the stairs. You'll encounter more Lizalfos and a booby trap room. Go to the south treasure chest by avoiding the obstacles and open it for a small key. Avoid the spike logs and grab the pear weight. Take it to the floor switch and place it which will de-electrify the fence. Go up the stairs and into the next room.

Take out the two glowing statues and the many bugs. When the bugs are all killed, a treasure chest will appear with a purple Rupee. When the two statues are destroyed, the golden gates will open. Go through the open gate and through the door using your small key.

This is a pure sword fighting battle. Your goal is to knock off all of his armor using a combination of techniques. The Back Slice works well, but it must be done repeatedly and you'll probably have a successful attack one out of four times. If that's not your cup of tea, then wait for him to swing at you with his sword. Dodge the attack and his sword will get stuck in the ground. Quickly stab him. Repeat this until all of his armor is knocked off. At this point, you'll enter the second stage of the battle. For this part, there is no one technique that will work. Just use a combination of your favorite sword skills to attack him. Remember to use your shield to block attacks. Watch out for his sword and kick attacks.

Once you have defeated him, go to the treasure chest and open it for the Dominion Rod. This awesome artifacts allows you to control statues. Equip the Dominion Rod and face the treasure chest. Look up to find the missing statue that belongs in the foyer of the temple. Hold "B" to target the statue. If you're not getting the spinning yellow "lock on" then move closer. When you do get recognition that you're close enough, release "B" to send the power of the rod into the statue.

You and the statue will now move as one. Walk away from the treasure chest to make the statue fall down. At this point it's a good idea to get a feel for moving your new best friend around. First, you can swing his hammer by pressing "B". This is a very powerful attack and you'll be using it to smash gates, walls, and enemies. Next, release the statue from your control by hitting "A" to "Quit". Go right up to the statue and take control of him again. You'll note that the distance you are from the statue when you take control is the distance the statue will stay. Therefore, if you want him right next to you, take control of him when he's near you. If you want some distance, take control of him from a distance. Finally, note the green warp point in the room. This is the glowing pad on the floor with the glowing bell above it. Lead the statue to the warp point. He'll disappear and the gate locking you in will raise. Go through the door.

The statue now appears in front of you. Take control of him and smash the gold gate using his hammer attack. Lead him off the ledge and use him to smash the two glowing blue statues in the room. Grab a vase or pear weight and place it on the floor switch which will lower the rectangular floor panel. Lead the statue onto the floor panel and release the vase/pear weight from the floor switch to raise up the statue. Take control of him and lead him down the stairs to the electric fence.

Note the floor switch just beyond the electric fence. Take control of the statue from a distance and guide him onto the floor switch. Release him and go through the de-electrified fence. Take control of him and use him to smash the two spiked logs. Continue down the stairs with him. In the circular room, smash the rotating spikes and the Beamos in the middle thus revealing a floor switch. Lead the statue to the rectangular floor panel and then locate either of the two pear weights on the pedestals. Fortunately for you, you can take control of the pear weights using the Dominion Rod. Do so and lead it off of the pedestal. Place it on the floor switch to raise the statue. Guide the statue onto the warp point. Exit out the north door.

You'll be back in the large gold scale room. Note the statue has reappeared to your left. Your goal is to get the statue across the scales. Take control of the statue and guide him onto the first scale. Place him so that he's not directly in the middle of the scale because you'll soon be throwing pear weights which are best thrown from the middle of the scale. Pick up the pear weight in the middle of the first scale and "Throw" it onto the second scale. This will have no visible impact on the level of the scales. Climb back up the ledge and up the stairs. Look to the left to find an opening in the railing. Fall off the ledge down to the ground below. Once again you'll be attacked by many bugs and several spiders. Go ahead and clear them all out. Then, head up the stairs and at the top, look up and to the right to find three pear weights on a ledge. Use the Dominion Rod to take control of each one so that it falls down to you. Toss two of them onto the scale with the other pear weights and the scales will end up level.

Walk out onto the scale with the pear weights. It'll drop down. From this scale you can take control of the statue. Do so and lead him onto the scale with all of the weights. Now, in order for him to raise up, you need to "Throw" all of the weights off of this scale and onto the other scale. This will make it so that the statue is even with the floor. Guide the statue off of the scales and down the stairs to the warp pad.

DO NOT leave this room. You have to get the boss key first. Go back up the stairs and hop onto the scale. Look at the middle of the ceiling. There is a Clawshot pad above the central pagoda. From the edge of the scale you can Clawshot to it. Do so and then drop down onto the pedestal. Move forward to the wall and use your Spinner to go left along the wall.

Drop off the spinner at the balcony and move toward the door. You'll encounter a Poe. Defeat him for a Poe's Soul. If you want a red Rupee, there is a treasure chest on the south end of the balcony. Otherwise, go through the door. In this room, behind a gate, is a treasure chest. Defeat the glowing blue statue and the two armadillos. Clawshot up to the platform above the treasure chest. Note the four floor switches and the small treasure chest (red Rupee). Place the two pear weights onto two of the switches. Look up on the right wall to find another pear weight. Take control of it to knock it down and place it on the third switch. Then, from up above, use your Clawshot to grab one of the Armadillos shells. Place the shell on the fourth switch. (You can use both shells if you like, instead of the other pear weight...it doesn't matter.) This will open the treasure chest gate. Go to it and open it for the big key.

Exit out to the scale room and go to the bottom floor. Exit out the east door. Go down the stairs and you'll find your statue behind the golden gate. Leave him be for now. Instead, go to the circle and shoot the diamond switch with an arrow. Now, take control of the statue and have him smash the wall to the left. Guide him to the floor switch which will de-electrify the fence. Release him and go through the fence, take a left and go to the treasure chest for a Piece of Heart. Exit back through the fence, take control of the statue, smash through the wall and head up the ramp. Go down the stairs and, in the next room, guide him to the warp point smashing a wall to get him there. After he warps, exit the room via the south door.

Go to the circular platform and grab the switch. Move it so that it raises the platform. Guide the statue onto the platform. Then, use the switch to lower the platform all the way to the ground. Use the statue to help you kill all of the bugs to de-electrify the fence. Lead the statue off of the circular platform. Before you move him to the warp point, smash through the gold gate to release a poe...collect the Poe's Soul. Head over to the other gold gate, smash it to gain access to the warp point, and then lead the statue onto it. Exit out the west door and go down the stairs.

At the bottom of the stairs use your Clawshot to get over the gold gate. Destroy the Lizalfos and the glowing blue statue and then take control of your statue. Lead him down the stairs and smash the gold gate at the bottom. Lead him to the warp point in front of you. Exit out the north door.

The statue has finally arrived in the foyer! Take control of him and lead him to his position on the right side of the north door. Yay! The statue is back in his rightful place. The gold gate blocking the north door will drop, thus allowing you access to the path to the boss!

If you are low on health now would be a good time to warp out of the temple (using Ooccoo) and then warp to N. Faron Woods. Here, you can visit Trill's Shop (the little bird) and fill up one of your bottles with red potion (you'll use the other to scoop a fairy). If you are satisfied with your current health situation, then go through the door.

Jump the gap and avoid the obstacles as you move forward. On the left you'll see a pear weight. Grab it and place it on the floor switch which will open the first gate and close the second. Go through and then take control of the pear weight. Guide it off the switch to open the second gate. Head to the boss door and break the vases right out side of it to unleash a fairy. Scoop it up with your empty jar. Go through the boss door using the big key.

Boss Fight: Armogohma

This boss fight is actually pretty straightforward. The room is lined with statues which you can take possession of. You'll be using them shortly. The first thing you need to do is to shoot Armogohma in the eye on its back. Look up with an arrow at the ready and when you see the eye open, shoot it. This will cause Armogohma to fall to the ground. Run over to the statue nearest to where it fell and use the Dominion Rod to take control of the statue. Press "B" to cause the statue to slam Armogohma with its fist.

At this point, Armogohma will climb back up to the ceiling. It'll spew out a bunch of little bugs. Take out the bugs so that they don't bother you and then shoot the eye again. If you're being attacked by the laser beam simply run in a tight circle to avoid it and then shoot the eye. Once you have shot the eye for the second time, go to the nearest statue and smash Armogohma again. Do this one more time and you'll defeat Armogohma...or will you?

The huge spider itself is gone now, but the eye remains behind. Actually, the eyeball is a spider! Yuck. It is surrounded by a bunch of little bugs. Shoot the eyeball spider three or four times with your arrow to defeat it.

Success! You receive the third shard of the mirror. One more to go. Make sure to grab the Heart Container and then enter Midna's warp point. You'll end up outside the entrance to the Temple of Time. Locate the two owl statues situated in the walls in the room outside of the Master Sword room. Use the Dominion Rod on each of the statues to guide them out of the wall. The left side statue has a Poe; collect the Poe's Soul. The right side statue is hiding a Piece of Heart. Head up the stairs and exit out. You'll get a cutscene with Ooccoo. The power of your Dominion Rod is exhausted. No more moving statues for you for a bit!

As usual, it's a good idea to warp back to Castle Town and visit with Telma.
