A New Gamecube Peripheral to be Unveiled at E3

Thanks to GamesIndustry.biz for revealing an article out of Japan's Kyoto Shimbun (a newspaper based in Nintendo's home town), which states, via Nintendo's PR office, that a new peripheral for the Nintendo Gamecube will be revealed at E3 in May. The PR office suggests the new peripheral will serve as competition for Sony's EyeToy.

This new peripheral may be one of many coming to the Gamecube. Some may remember the hubbub Nintendo's President Satoru Iwata caused recently when he reaffirmed Nintendo's long-term commitment to the Cube and announced more peripherals were on their way. This caused many to wrongly speculate that Nintendo was dropping out of the console race, which overshadowed the additional peripheral story.

Along with the revealing of this new product at E3, look forward to the unveiling of the Nintendo DS.
