XboxNEXT to Play PC Games?

Microsoft is studying customer feedback regarding a version of the XboxNEXT (Xbox 2) that would be able to play both PC games and Xbox games according to
this article. The unit, at a hypothetical price point of $599, would require a monitor or HDTV, would contain a CD burner, DVD player, a HDD, and a fully functional version of Windows. Hmm? Sounds an awful lot like any PC at that price point. I doubt that this will pan out, however, it would be interesting if the XboxNEXT could play PC games without all the extra frills of the $599 unit.
