Viacom, the mega media powerhouse who owns CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, Blockbuster, Infinity Broadcasting, and Simon and Schuster publishing, to name a few, has yet to bust into the video game publishing business. CEO, Sumner Redstone does own a majority stake in Midway but it's his, not Viacom's. That means that Viacom has been shopping around. Their eyes were set on EA. Then a price came out: $20 billion. Even for a powerhouse like Viacom that was too much. Now, Activision and Take2 are looking pretty good...a bargain $3 billion, plus or minus a few hundred million. No wonder video games aren't cheap.
