No Xbox 2 in 2005?

Yesterday Microsoft held its Financial Analyst Meeting 2004 event in Redmond where it was disclosed that the Xbox 2 will not be released next year. Microsoft’s Chief Executive Officer, Steve Ballmer, stated "There's no new Xbox in the next year, but, man, are we hard at work on that next Xbox; that's all we'll say. New Xbox Live creativity, "Halo 2," and again innovation fuels growth, innovation fuels growth. It's about as simple as that." Now, this was a financial meeting where fiscal years are often referenced in lieu of calendar years. Since we did just kick off the 2005 fiscal year this month, it might not be as bad as it seems...maybe.
