Last night, for those of us who were unfortunate enough to watch the Spike TV Video Game Awards, we saw a disservice to everthing that is good in games and a hedonistic display of everything that is bad. From scantily clad women telling us cheat codes to the reunion of Motley Crue, complete with Tommy Lee. The video game industry has finally grown up becoming bigger than the movie industry and permeating all facets of today's pop-culture, however, it's lingering infancy and adolescence was on display last night. If video games want to be taken seriously, they need a serious awards show. Slashdot has a very good opinion piece regarding the show.
