EA Signs Deal with Arena Football

According to many sources, including CNNMoney, EA today announced that it will develop a football game based on the AFL (Arena Football League). The deal would see the first EA AFL game in 2006 and as part of the package, EA will share in the profits of future expansion teams. The AFL, which has been around for 19 years, has 17 teams throughout the country and uses a 50 yard field and 8 players. It is broadcast on NBC, who also share in the profits. I can see it now, the California EA Gamers vs. the Grand Rapids Rampage. Oy. Here is the official announcement from the AFL.
