At the end of January, many Japanese gamers were rather miffed by Sony's response to their complaint of PSP "sticky buttons". SCE president Ken Kutaragi had given an interview to Japan's Nikkei Business magazine where he stated, "This is the design that we came up with. There may be people that complain about its usability, but that's something which users and game software developers will have to adapt to. I didn't want the PSP's LCD screen to become any smaller than this, nor did I want its machine body to become any larger." He went on to assure the .6 percent of PSP owners affected that "it was not a mistake".
Today, it seems it was a mistake, as Sony has offered to repair any PSP suffering from "sticky buttons" for free. Sony has assured gamers that the manufacturing problem has been fixed and will not affect PSPs sold in the US.
