Thanks to GamesIndustry.biz for reporting that Rupert Murdoch's mega-media-corporation, News Corp, is set to acquire British game studio, Eidos (Tomb Raider, Thief, Hitman). Eidos has been courting a suitor for quite some time and News Corp has been itching to get into the lucrative video game market. News Corp owns TV, cable, magazine, satellite, book, and newspaper companies throughout the world including Fox, The Sun, TV Guide, Harper-Collins, DirectTV, New York Post, Sky, The Weekly Standard, The Times, etc. According to the article, Eidos is pleased with the purchase because the studio will not be broken up, which would have been the case if a rival studio had purchased them.
