Are Returned PSPs Coming Back Worse Off?

Engadget has posted a short piece about PSP users taking advantage of
Sony's offer to exchange PSPs suffering from dead pixels for units with new screens, only to discover the new screens also have dead pixels, and, in some cases, have more dead pixels than the PSPs they traded in. While the Engadget piece is, itself, rather weak, the comments are shocking. It seems the dead pixel issue is very real, with some users complaining of more than 10/unit. There also seems to be a huge problem with dust under the screen, which I find bizarre. For some reason I always picture electronics factories as spotless. I guess that's just not the case...at least, not for Sony.
