Sony has today announced plans to launch its own online marketplace, the Station Exchange, in order to provide Everquest II gamers with a "secure method of buying and selling the right to use in game coin, items and characters in accordance with SOE’s license agreement, rules and guidelines." While Sony has been a staunch opponent of selling in-game property for real-world cash in the past (actually forcing eBay to stop allowing such auctions), it now calls the act a "growing secondary market", and guarantees that people who purchase over the Exchange will get what they paid for, something other auction sites don't offer.
