Breaking: "GTA: San Andreas" Gets AO Rating
Wednesday - July 20, 2005
The ESRB (Entertainmenst Software Rating Board) has decided to change the rating of the previously M-rated Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
to AO (Adult Only), after Take Two Interactive (Rockstar's parent company) admitted, for the first time, that the code for the controversial and pornographic "Hot Coffee" mod was, in fact, on the manufactured GTA:SA
discs. What's more, the code is not only on the PC version of the game, as previously thought, but can also be accessed on the Xbox and PS2 versions (we reported on the PS2 "Hot Coffee" cheat
on Monday). Rockstar, which previously denied the existance of the code
, now says it will begin to manufacture copies of the game which will satisfy the M-rating. Because of this action, Take Two says it will "suffer financially".
Personally, I hope it does suffer financially. They lied to the ESRB when presenting the game, they lied when they were initially caught, and, because of these lies, big time politicians
are pushing to federally regulate the sale of video games. When people threaten my constitutional rights, I'm not impressed.
