Yesterday at the Game Developers Conference in San Jose, awards were handed out at both the Fourth Annual Game Developers Choice Awards
and the Sixth Annual Independent Games Festival
. The big winners at the Game Developers Choice awards were "Call of Duty", "The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time", and "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" (which won game of the year). At the Independant Games Festival, where the average budget for games entered was $5,800 with an average of 1.8 developers working an average of 5 months, we were happy to see an award hit "Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates", which is one of our favorite distractions.
