Yesterday at the Game Developers Conference in San Jose, awards were handed out at both the
Fourth Annual Game Developers Choice Awards and the
Sixth Annual Independent Games Festival. The big winners at the Game Developers Choice awards were "Call of Duty", "The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time", and "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" (which won game of the year). At the Independant Games Festival, where the average budget for games entered was $5,800 with an average of 1.8 developers working an average of 5 months, we were happy to see an award hit "Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates", which is one of our favorite distractions.
