Why are legislators so shocked and surprised that there is violence in games? "I wasn't even aware that this filth existed," said one city councilman. Really? You weren't aware? Well, think about it. There's violence on the TV every single day and night. There's violence in the movies. Why wouldn't there be violence in video games? I hate lawmakers that are so offended by this realization.
Yes, something should be done to keep violent games out of kids' hands but that is only a small piece of the large violence puzzle that is America. Let's get CSI and 24 off the air. They're violent. Let's get Days of our Lives off the air. It shows sexual situations. Oh, and let's try not to kill each other with guns on a daily basis. Geez. Lay off the games. Yes, some of them are bad. And stop focusing on GTA. It's one (well two) games. It's like saying that all Senators are evil because I've only seen Trent Lott.
Grrr. The stupidity that our elders/councilmen/legislators show regarding video games is very frustrating.
