According to
Gamesindustry.biz, Sony has bid $5 billion to takeover film studio, MGM. Sony, who bought Columbia TriStar a few years ago, would add a film library of 4,000 films and over 10,000 tv series episodes. Key franchises for the video game-centric include James Bond, Rocky, Robocop, and Stargate SG-1. There are also PSP implications as Sony is trying to get the UMD movie playing standard to be accepted. Owning MGM would help that out.
