Blockbuster, the world's largest video game chain, has acquired
Rhino Video Games, the largest independant video game retailer in the Southeast US. They did so by purchasing Rhino's parent company, American Satellite & Video, for an undisclosed sum of money. The acquisition expands Blockbuster's video game business beyond the rental and reselling of used video games in its namesake stores at a time where movie rental revenue is falling due to competition from mail rentals and widespread availability of discount DVDs.
