ATI's third quarter net income tripled to $48.6 million, beating estimates. The rise is attributed in large part to strong demand for video games which require faster and better chips, especially those in cell phones. Sales for the quarter were $491.5 million which beat the forecast of 465.7 million. Numbers aside, the increased sales bode well for the video game industry.
