Sims 2 - Best EA Launch Ever

Electronic Arts (EA) today announced that the "Sims 2" has sold over 1 million copies at retail stores in its first ten days making it the biggest PC launch in EA's 22-year history. In an interesting aside, more than half of those copies were sold in Europe. It seems that the Sims is quite a phenomenon world wide. And, if you're a console gamer, look for "The Urbz: Sims in the City" coming out in November.

Best PC Launch in EA's History

Chertsey, UK, September 27, 2004 - Electronic Arts (Nasdaq:ERTS - News), today announced that, based on internal data, The Sims 2? sold more than one million copies at retail stores worldwide within the first ten days - the biggest PC launch in EA's 22-year history.

Fight for NYTM, Medal of Honor Pacific AssaultTM, GoldenEye: Rouge AgentTM, The Lord of the RingsTM, The Third AgeTM, The Lord of the Rings: The Battle For Middle-earthTM and the follow up to 2003's global best selling game, Need For SpeedTM Underground 2.

The SimsTM franchise also will deliver a new console game this November to its loyal fan base, The UrbzTM: Sims in the CityTM. For the first time, The Sims are moving to the city and it's all about building your reputation. Players will be able to unlock nine different districts in the city that never sleeps and gain access to all the hottest VIP spots while interacting with The Black Eyed Peas. The soundtrack to the game includes nine exclusive re-recorded music tracks from The Black Eyed Peas all in Simlish - the game's quirky language. The Urbz: Sims in the City will be available early November for the PlayStation?2 computer entertainment system, Xbox? video game system from Microsoft, Nintendo GameCubeTM and Nintendo Game Boy? Advance.
