As reported by several news outlets, including
GamesIndustry.biz, Sony has had to admit to some manufacturing delays for their slimmer, newer PS2. To remedy this situation Sony will cut back manufacturing of its handheld PSP to dedicate more resources to its money-making PS2. This means that only 200,000 PSPs will be available for launch in Japan with an expected additional 300,000 by years end. Not very good numbers for a launch when you consider that the
Nintendo DS has 2 million pre-orders in Japan alone. In my mind, the handheld war is over before it has even begun. Did somebody say N-gage?
