Last June
it was announced that ESPN's
NFL 2K5 would launch with a $19.95 price tag. This was all in an effort to attract gamers to the ESPN game, in lieu of EA's more popular $49.99 Madden offering. This was also part of
a larger plan, involving all ESPN games, where "high quality products" were to be offered at "value pricing". The plan worked, and ended up stimulating many sales for Sega and Take-Two (co-publishers of ESPN games). However, according to
GamesIndustry.biz, the plan was only a temporary solution, and
these low prices are not to last.
